IMPACT WRESTLING TV RECAP FOR 3/23/23
- Highlights are shown of the interactions between Josh Alexander and Steve Maclin over the last few weeks, we also see Bullet Club defeating Alexander, Rich Swann & Frankie Kazarian on last week's Impact.
The Design (Deaner, Kon & Angels) w/Callihan vs. Time Machine (Kushida, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
The match begins with Kon shoving Kushida to the mat below, Kushida cracks Kon with a few strikes and Kon defends before getting double teamed by Kushida and Shelley. Kon drops Kushida and Shelley before tagging Deaner in, Deaner immediately lands some strikes on Shelley. Sabin makes a blind tag and the MCMG double team Deaner, Deaner recovers and he drops Sabin after landing a few strikes. Angels tags in and he cracks Sabin with some more strikes, Sabin fights back and Angels nails him with a leg lariat. Sabin recovers and he traps Angels before Time Machine triple teams him, Sabin nails a downed Angels with a hesitation drop kick. Shelley tags back in and he goes after the arm of Angels, Shelley drops Angels with multiple chops before the rest of his teammates go after Angels' arm as well. Kushida tags back in and he gets a downed Angels into a crossbow stretch, Angels fights back and Shelley gets him out of the ring before Kushida lands a baseball slide drop kick.
Shelley gets Angels back in the ring before Sabin tags in to work over Angels further, Sabin traps Angels in the corner so Shelley can kick him in the head. Sabin goes after Kon and that allows Angels to land a neck breaker on him, Deaner tags in and he lands a bunch of strikes on Sabin. Deaner traps Sabin in the corner before stomping away on him alongside Kon, Sabin fights back and he catches Deaner in a roll up for a two count. Kushida tags in and he immediately starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Deaner fights back and he gets double teams by Kushida and Shelley. Angels hits the ring and he gets double teamed as well, Time Machine clears the ring and Kushida takes everybody out with a dive from the top rope as we go to a commercial break. We return from the break to see Shelley accidentally hitting Kushida with a kick to the face, Angels tags in and he exchanges strikes with Kushida. Deaner interferes and he kicks Kushida right in the face, Kon hits the ring and he lays out Kushida so Angels can land a frog splash for a near fall. Angels stays in the ring and he works over Kushida before tagging Kon in, The Design triple team Kushida by landing a double doomsday device for a near fall.
Sabin and Shelley hit the ring and they do battle against The Design, everybody from both teams hit the ring and they all take each other out. Angels is left in the ring and he winds up getting triple teamed by Time Machine, Deaner returns to the ring and he crotches Kushida on the top rope before eating a cutter from Sabin. Callihan interferes and he gets taken out by Sabin and Shelley, Sabin then hits a bunch of people with a suicide dive. Kushida returns and he gets Angels in the Hoverboard Lock to force a tap out.
Winners: Time Machine (Kushida, Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
- The Coven appear and taylor Wilde talks about witchcraft, Wilde tells Rosemary that she isn't a fraud while KiLynn King says Rosemary sealed the fate of the Death Dollz.
- A video package airs highlighting Champagne Singh & Shera.
- Eddie Edwards and Kenny King are backstage, Edwards says he wants to end things with PCO and he reached out to King for help. King admits he and Edwards didn't speak much after Honor No More broke up, King says he is stepping up because PCO was never family and he will beat PCO at Sacrifice.
Savannah Evans w/Gisele Shaw & Jai Vidal vs. Deonna Purrazzo
The match begins with Purrazzo nailing Evans with some strikes, Evans quickly drops Purrazzo with a boot to the face. Evans sends Purrazzo into the corner before landing more strikes, Evans also lands an avalanche on a trapped Purrazzo. Evans follows up by tossing Purrazzo across the ring, Evans lands a running kick on Purrazzo for a near fall. Purrazzo returns to the corner and Evans hits her with more strikes, Purrazzo fights back and she nails Evans with her own strikes. Purrazzo follows up by sending Evans out of the ring after landing a rana, Purrazzo leaves the ring to argue with Shaw and Vidal. Evans grabs a distracted Purrazzo and she backs her into the ringside edge before sending her into the ring post as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Evans working over Purrazzo in the ring. Evans also decides to choke Purrazzo along the middle rope, Purrazzo tries fighting back and Evans chokes her again. Evans keeps Purrazzo in the corner before landing a corner spear, Evans then hits Purrazzo with a butterfly suplex for a near fall.
Purrazzo fights back again and she lands a bunch of chops on Evans, Evans recovers and she drops Purrazzo before stomping away on her. Evans holds Purrazzo in a front headlock while landing more strikes followed by a suplex for a near fall, Evans keeps Purrazzo down while applying a chin lock to her. Purrazzo gets free and she lands a few strikes on Evans before dropping her, Purrazzo fails to drop Evans after some clothesline attempts. Purrazzo eventually drops Evans before landing a back kick followed by a knee strike, Purrazzo then hits Evans with a side Russian leg sweep before applying a Fujiwara arm bar. Evans eventually gets to the ropes to break the submission attempt from Purrazzo, Evans recovers and she hits Purrazzo with a northern lights suplex for a near fall. Evans sets up for a fell nelson slam and Purrazzo defends by rolling her up for a near fall, Shaw distracts Purrazzo and Vidal does as well before Evans accidentally takes him out. Purrazzo catches Evans in a crucifix bomb for a three count.
Winner: Deonna Purrazzo
After the match, Savannah Evans attacks Deonna Purrazzo before Gisele Shaw and Jai Vidal join in on the attack.
- The Death Dollz are backstage and they are angry at The Coven, Jessicka says that Rosemary's magic should have guaranteed them a victory last week. Taya Valkyrie and Jessicka argue over whether or not they should use magic, Jessicka searches for The Coven with Valkyrie in tow. Jessicka finds a coffin backstage and she opens it before Valkyrie closes it, a hand comes from the coffin the hand drags Valkyrie into the coffin.
Bully Ray & Masha Slamovich vs. Tommy Dreamer & Mickie James
The match begins with Ray taking a swing at James before James tags in, Slamovich tags in and James nails her with a few strikes. Slamovich fights back and James drops her with a Thesz press followed by some more strikes, James then hits Slamovich with a flapjack. Ray distracts James and that allows Slamovich to gain control, Ray tags in and he misses an elbow drop on James. Dreamer tags in and he quickly drops Ray with a cross body block, Ray quickly drops Dreamer before tagging Slamovich in. Ray drops Slamovich on top of Dreamer for a near fall, Slamovich then cracks Dreamer with a few strikes. Dreamer recovers and he tags James in so she can land a top rope axe handle smash to the arm of Slamovich, Ray interferes and he drops James with a hair pull. Ray tags in and he knocks Dreamer off of the ring apron, Ray grabs a kendo stick and he thinks about using it on James before tossing it out of the ring. Ray then hits James with a slam before tagging Slamovich back in, Slamovich nails a trapped James with a kick to the upper body.
Slamovich then drops James multiple times with multiple hair mares, James fights back and Slamovich drops her with a knee to the midsection. James fights back again and she drops Slamovich with a rana, James then hits Slamovich with a neck breaker. Dreamer and Ray are tagged in by their respective partners, Dreamer quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Dreamer then hits Ray with a cutter for a near fall, Slamovich hits the ring and James drops her with a top rope Thesz press. Dreamer and James then work together against Ray and Slamovich, Dreamer drops ray before James lands a top rope axe handle smash to his balls. Dreamer and James leave the ring to go get a table that is brought into the ring, Slamovich takes out James with a dive. Ray hits Dreamer with a low blow behind the ref's back followed by a piledriver for a three count.
Winners: Bully Ray & Masha Slamovich
After the match, Masha Slamovich finds Mickie James and she gets her in the ring while Bully Ray sets a table up. Ray prepares to put James through the table when Jordynne Grace makes the save, Grace then hits James with a spear by accident after Ray got out of her way.
- Frankie Kazarian and Rich Swann are talking backstage about what Steve Maclin said last week about Swann's relationship with Josh Alexander, Kazarian tells Swann to find Alexander.
- Rich Swann goes to Josh Alexander's locker room when he finds Steve Maclin in there, Maclin leaves after Swann confronts him.
Dirty Dango & Joe Hendry vs. Moose & Brian Myers
The match begins with Myers kicking Hendry in the midsection before getting him in a headlock, Hendry gets free and he drops Myers with a few shoulder tackles. Hendry then tags in Dango while still landing a delayed vertical suplex on Myers, Moose tags in and Dango cracks him with a few chops. Dango mounts Moose in the corner while landing more strikes, Moose gets free and he sends Dango into the corner while landing shoulder thrusts. Myers tags back in and he works over a cornered Dango, Dango fights back and he hits Myers with a suplex followed by a tornado DDT. Moose interferes and he gets sent out of the ring by the opposition as we go to a commercial break, we return from the break to see Dango nailing Myers with chops. Dango follows up by landing a falcon arrow on Myers, Dango goes to the top rope and Myers knocks him to the arena floor. Moose gets Dango back in the ring so Myers can work him over, Moose tags in and he drops Dango with a hard Irish whip into the corner.
Myers tags back in and he nails a trapped Dango with some more strikes, Myers holds Dango down while applying a chin lock to him. Dango gets free and Moose tags in to attack Dango from behind, Moose keeps Dango down while choking him. Moose follows up by hitting Dango with a suplex. Myers tags back in and he lands knee drops on a downed Myers, Moose tags back in and he again chokes a downed Dango. Moose keeps Dango down while applying a chin lock to him, Dango gets free and he kicks a charging Moose in the face. Dango then drops Moose after landing a leaping European uppercut, Hendry tags into the match and he cleans house against the opposing team. Hendry eventually nails Myers with a cutter for a near fall, Myers fights back and he manages to hit Hendry with an enziguri. Hendry recovers and he nails a charging Myers with a pop up power bomb for a near fall, Moose hits the ring and he nails Hendry with a spear. Myers then hits Hendry with the Roster Cut for a three count.
Winners: Moose & Brian Myers
- Josh Alexander finds Rich Swann in his locker room, Swann tells Alexander that Steve Maclin was going through his things earlier and Alexander says he will go to the ring to settle things.
- Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Josh Alexander makes his way to the ring, Alexander says Steve Maclin has finally earned a shot at the world championship. Alexander talks about everything that Maclin has done to earn a title shot, Alexander says he has no respect for Maclin when he complains and moans about not getting a title shot. Alexander says Maclin will have no more excuses when he beats him at Rebellion, Maclin makes his way to the ringside area and he admits that he is afraid to fail. Maclin says he picked the right time to challenge for the title because he wanted to be at his best when the match comes, Maclin shows footage of himself watching Alexander's past matches. Maclin says he has become obsessed with winning the world title, Alexander wants to fight Maclin now and Maclin turns him down because he wants to beat Alexander in his hometown at Rebellion.
