As we reported last night in the PWInsider Elite section, there was almost a major Smackdown creative change last week.
Sources indicate that Drew McIntyre was extremely ill all last week and wasn't actually cleared to return to the ring until after he arrived at the taping and was examined by the company's medical team. Had McIntyre not been cleared, there would have been another substitution in the five way last week, although we haven't heard what talent would have been tapped.
McIntyre, who worked all the live events post-Smackdown, has received a lot of respect for how hard he has worked for the company, even when under the weather or working banged up over the last year. He's very much a locker room leader in that regard.
