3/13/23 Results from New Japan Cup 2023 from Ehime, Japan:
1 - Ren Narita and Oskar Luebe vs. Chase Owens and KENTA.
Owens pins Oskar after a C-Trigger.
2 - Kosei Fujita and Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Shota Umino and Tama Tonga, with Jado.
Tama pins Fujita after a Gun Stun.
3 - TAKA Michinoku and Taichi, with DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. SHO and Yujiro Takahashi.
Yujiro pins TAKA after hitting Pimp Juice.
4 - El Phantasmo, David Finlay and Gedo vs. Great O-Khan, Aaron Henare and Kyle Fletcher. More bitching and arguing between ELP and Finlay.
O-Khan taps out Gedo to a Sheep Killer.
5 - Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto, YOH and Lio Rush vs. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito.
Takagi pins YOH after a Pumping Bomber.
New Japan Cup 2023 Matches:
6 - Round 2: Jeff Cobb vs. EVIL.
Cobb got the better of EVIL and Togo at the start. They tried their tricks but Cobb used his power to control them. EVIL takes the match to the floor and smashes Cobb in the head with a chair. EVIL get the advantage but struggles with Cobb’s size. Cobb hits a powerslam. Two count. EVIL with a Fisherman Buster. Two count. EVIL hits Darkness Falls. Two count. Cobb with a Spin Cycle. Cobb throws EVIL off the top rope with a gut wrench suplex. EVIL tries for a Magic Killer but Cobb reverses and hits a Magic Killer of his own. Cobb with a standing moonsault. Two count.
They exchange reversals. Togo tries to interfere. Aaron Henare and Kyle Fletcher take Togo away. Yujiro and SHO attack O-Khan and handcuff him to the guardrail. House of Torture takes out the referee and gang up on Cobb. They use their weapons on Cobb.
EVIL hits Everything is Evil on Cobb.
EVIL pins Cobb
EVIL moves on in the tournament.
House of Torture are heat machines.
7 - Round 2: Mark Davis vs. Will Ospreay.
They start very evenly until Davis connected with a hard chop. They began trading strikes. They take the match to the floor. Davis throws Ospreay on then guardrails. Davis with a Senton on the floor. Ospreay may have injured his shoulder. They quicken the pace despite Ospreay’s shoulder. Ospreay attacked Davis’ left leg with kicks and a figure four. Davis fought back. Both hit stiff shots. Good match. Davis hit a lariat off the top rope. Ospreay with an Oscutter. Davis crushed Ospreay with a lariat. Ospreay with a Storm Driver. Ospreay follows with a Hidden Blade.
Ospreay pins Davis.
Will Ospreay moves on and will face EVIL next.
Both men shake hands after the match. Big ovation to both men. Ospreay thanks Davis for the match. He promises to win the New Japan Cup. He promises to take out EVIL.
