3/11 New Japan Cup results From Aichi, Japan:
1 - Oskar Leube, Toru Yano and Tama Tonga, with Jado vs. Great O-Khan, Jeff Cobb and Aaron Henare
Henare pins Oskar with a Rampage
2 - Kosei Fujita and Zack Sabre Jr vs. David Finlay and El Phantasmo
ELP comes to ring and looks at a fan’s sign of himself. He shows it to the camera and David Finlay hits the sign from his hand. Teasing more dissension.
Finlay and ELP begin tagging out by slapping each other in the face. Gedo screams at them to calm down. ZSJ takes advantage of their issues and punishes ELP with submissions. Finlay refuses to help his partner.
Finlay pins Fujita after a Blue Thunder Bomb.
They all give the Two Sweet Salute. But ELP leaves the ring first. Finlay grabs a kids toy and throws it across the arena. ELP is giving the Two Sweet Salute to fans. Finlay and ELP are acting the complete opposite when they were competing back in the G1 Climax last year. We shall see where this goes.
3 - TAKA Michinoku, DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Taichi vs. SHO, Dick Togo, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL
SHO pins TAKA after a cross arm Piledriver.
4 - Lio Rush, YOH and Tomohiro Ishii vs. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi
Rush pins BUSHI after a Final Hour
Lio Rush is getting wins heading into his match against Hiromu Takahashi for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title.
5 - Tomoaki Honma, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis and Will Ospreay
Ospreay hit a Chelsea Grin on Honma and was about hit a Hidden Blade. Davis tags himself in and Aussie Open hits a Corealis on Honma.
Davis pins Honma.
Ospreay stares down Davis. Both men will meet each other in the Round 2. They tease some drama before their match.
6 - Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada vs. Ren Narita and Shota Umino
Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flow on Umino. Okada leveled Narita with two Rainmakers.
Okada pins Narita
I don’t know the point of this match. Tanahashi and Okada dominated them.
New Japan Cup 2023 Matches:
7 - Round 2: Tetsuya Naito vs. Chase Owens
Naito and Owens played mind games with each other early on. Owens used his trickery to get the advantage early. Naito played the babyface who had to fight from behind. Owens hit a Styles Clash from the second rope. Two count. Owens hit two C-Triggers and picked up Naito on his shoulders. Naito reverses into a Victory Roll.

Tetsuya Naito moves on in the tournament.
8 - Round 2: KENTA vs. SANADA
Slower paced match. KENTA tried to play cat and mouse. He baited SANADA to the floor and threw him into the guardrails. KENTA began with strikes and kicks to SANADA’s back. KENTA hit a DDT on the floor. KENTA tied SANADA’s hands to his legs and rolled him over in a Paradise Lock position. The referee got SANADA free. KENTA went for submissions. SANADA gets to the ropes. KENTA with a DDT. They exchange strikes. Referee bumps. KENTA grabs a chair. Referee takes the chair away. KENTA throws SANADA into the referee who bumps to the floor. KENTA blasts SANADA multiple times with the chair. KENTA with a double stomp. Two count. KENTA hammers him with slaps. KENTA traps SANADA in a Yes Lock. SANADA gets to the ropes. SANADA with an O’Conner Roll. Two count. SANADA hits a TKO and a Moonsault. Two count.
Referee takes another bump. KENTA with a Russian leg sweep. KENTA hits a low blow. KENTA grabs the New Japan Strong belt. SANADA kicks KENTA and the belt hits KENTA in the face. SANADA hits his new Twisting DDT.
SANADA pins KENTA
SANADA advances and moves on to face Tetsuya Naito in the next Round.
