It’s time for AEW Rampage and it was recorded after Dynamite on Wednesday! The show is coming from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone.
Sammy Guevara vs Action Andretti
Andretti takes down Sammy twice with a double leg takedown and then they go to chops and blows. They move to the floor and Andretti is in control with chops and tossing Sammy into the barricade. Sammy is able to reverse a toss into the barricade. Andretti then drives Sammy into the apron and follows with a tope. The fight continues around the ring. He drives Sammy into the ring steps and then rolls Sammy into the ring. He hits a split legged moonsault on Sammy for two.
They go to the outside again and they trade chops. When they return to the ring, they fight in the corner and Andretti leaps from the top rope, Sammy tries to hit a drop kick in mid air on him, but Andretti grabs the legs, and then catapults Sammy over the top. Samm grabs the top rope and skins the cat back into the ring.
Andretti then clotheslines Sammy over the top and to the floor. Andretti tries for a leaping strike from the top, but Sammy is able to hit a kick on him in mid air as we go picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Sammy has a rear chinlock on Andretti. Andretti fights his way free and escapes a backdrop. He and Sammy run the ropes and leap into each other. Both men are up around 5, fighting on their knees. They work to their feet, still slugging it out. Andretti comes off the ropes for a pair of forearms and then hits a neck breaker. Sammy goes to the outside. Andretti is able to hit a moonsault off the top after they jockey for position on the outside.
Sammy is rolled into the ring and Andretti hits a 450 splash from the top for two. Sammy tries for a clothesline and Andretti turns it into a Spanish Fly for two. Adndretti tries for a running shooting star, but Sammy gets his knees up. Sammy then hits an over the top DDT and Andretti rolls out of the ring.
Sammy follows him and puts him on the timekeeper’s table. Sammy then goes to the ring, but Andretti is up and they fight at ringside with Sammy being placed on the table instead. Anmdretti goes to the top and hits a diving splash onto Sammy through the table. Andretti drags Sammy to the ring and rolls him in. Andretti goes to the top as the Ref is with Sammy. Garcia is able to shove Andretti off the top and Sammy grabs Andretti for a GTH, the pin, and the win.
Winner: Sammy Guevara
There was a Darby Allin video package. He will be back Wednesday.
Jungle Boy says he's done with Christian and coming for a championship belt.
AEW TNT Champion Will Hobbs and QT Marshall say the first edition of QTV is coming Wednesday.
The Acclaimed w/Billy Gunn vs The Already In The Ring Starboy Charlie and Jack Cartwheel
Cartwheel starts with Bowens, who backs him into the corner quickly. Bowens then beats him down with elbows and tags in Caster. They set up for Scissor Me Timbers right away. Cartwheel tags in Starboy and Caster gives him two shots to the face and then Bowens is tagged in. Caster hits the Mic Drop and Bowens gets the pin and the win.
Winners: The Acclaimed
Matt Menand and Angelo Parker come out with Jericho Appreciation Society T-shirts.
Backstage, Chris Jericho says they will win the Trios titles Wednesday.
Preston Vance w/Jose the Assistant vs Konosuke Takeshida
Preston has a bunch of masks around his neck showing all of the masks he’s taken from people. Don Callis tags in to do commentary and Tony sits this one out.
They lock up collar and elbow and Takeshida forces them back into the ropes. Takeshida breaks clean. They lock up again and this time Vance forces them back to the ropes and he breaks with a chop. Takeshida runs the ropes and hits a leaping forearm and then hits a discus elbow. Vance rolls out of the ring and Takeshida hits a tope from the top. Vance gets into the ring, and Takeshida charges into him and then hits a brain buster for two.
Takeshida goes to the ropes for another charge, but Jose grabs his boot, allowing Vance to clothesline him out of the ring. Vance then tosses Takeshida into the barricade. Vance slams Takeshida on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Vance is raining down forearms on Takeshida in the corner. Takeshida carries him out of the corner and slams him. Takeshida goes for a power strike knee, and Vance blocks it. They throw hands in the middle of the ring, and Vance wins the exchange. They then move to kicks. Takeshida ends that with a German Suplex. They then hit each other and both drop to the mat.
They are both up at 6, and Vance charges into a big boot from Takeshida in the corner. Takeshida then hits a knee strike off the middle rope. Takeshida then hits a blue thunder bomb for two. Takeshida hits a knee strike to Vance’s face, and Jose puts Vance's boot on the bottom rope at two. Takeshida nails Jose on the floor and when Takeshida gets in the ring, Vance hits a discus lariat for two.
Vance locks on a full nelson, and Takshida backs into the corner to break the hold and rolls up Vance for two. Takeshida is able to get a back slide and holds on for the pin and the win.
Winner: Konosuke Takeshida
Callis says he has guided Takeshida to his first victory.
Swerve Strickland says he's still coming for Keith Lee.
Mark Briscoe comes to the ring with the Ring of Honor Tag Team Title on his shoulder. He grabs a mic and says he is respecting the best tag team in all of time and space. He says he was talking to Tony Khan about the titles, and on 3-31-2023, we get the best tag teams on the planet and have them have a Reach for the Sky Ladder Match. He then introduces the first tag team in the match, the Lucha Brothers.
Matt Hardy "trained" Stokely Hathaway in preparation for Hook.
Nyla Rose vs Riho
They lock up and Nyla shoves Riho back into the corner quickly. They go to lock up again and Riho dodges and hits a series of blows. Nyla then takes over and gets in a few blows and a shoulder tackle. She attempts a senton, but Riho gets out of the way. Riho tries to lift Nyla and fails, so Nyla slaps Riho and slams her for two. Riho bridges out and hits a pair of drop kicks and Nyla rolls out of the ring.
Marina Shafir starts to walk toward Riho, but the Ref tells her to stay away as Riho gets back in the ring. Riho goes to the top and hits a cross body. Riho tries again for a suplex, and Nyla gets a stalling vertical suplex Riho escapes a charge in the corner. Riho gets a guillotine off the top , but Shafir is able to give Riho a judo throw on the floor after the move. She tosses Riho into the ring as we go to commercial.
When we return to full screen, Riho has been fighting from underneath. Riho gets in a few blows, but Nyla gets a knee in. Riho gets a Tijeras, but when Nyla pops up., she charges into Nyla. Nyla puts Riho on the top turnbuckle. Nyla beats on Riho’s back on the top, but Riho starts fighting back. She shoves Nyla off and gets a diving hurricanrana and a diving knee strike. She goes to the top, hits a leaping foot stomp for two. Nyla is up and shoves Riho into the ropes and then slams her for two.
Nyla drapes Riho on the top rope, goes to the top for a leaping knee drop and covers Riho for two. Nyla goes to the top again, and leaps for a senton, but Riho rolls out of the way and finally gets a suplex for two. Riho misses a knee strike, and Nyla slams into her in the cor5ner. Nyla tries for a cannonball and misses. Riho gets a crucifix bomb for two. Riho sets for the running knee, but Shafir grabs her foot. Nyla lifts Riho for the power bomb, but Nyla escapes and rolls through on Nyla and holds for the pin and the win.
Winner: Riho
Nyla and Shafir take Riho out and walk away, leaving her in the ring. Saraya, Toni Storm, and Ruby Soho come to the ring with spray paint. She gets a L spray painted on her as Ruby and Saraya hold her.
