CNBC.com is reporting that WWE is in discussion with gambling commissions in Colorado and Michigane to allow bets to be taken on their match results. WWE is using The Academy Awards as a comparison, asserting that they can keep match results a secret before they actually happen.
If they can somehow get the option to allow the betting, companies themselves would have to decide if they want to offer odds and the option to actually bet on the outcomes.
It will be interesting to see if they can prevail in their attempt. It should be noted that the stock was down all day and rise into the green at the close on news of this report.
