THE NOW TAG TEAM LOOKING INTO TRADEMARK LAWSUIT AGAINST WWE & AUSTIN THEORY

By Mike Johnson on 2023-03-07 12:38:00

The Now tag team, Hale Collins and Vik Dalishus, who have been regulars in the Northeast independent scene and have competed for Billy Corgan's National Wrestling Alliance, told The Hudson Valley Post newspaper that they own the trademark on "The Now" in professional wrestling and will be seeking legal remedy should WWE continue to use it in conjunction with WWE United States Champion Austin Theory.

The article noted that since Theory has begun using that term on WWE TV, the duo have sent WWE two cease and desist notices, one of which was acknowledged by the company, and are now looking into potentially suing.

The duo have been using the name since 2006, including appearances in Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore, Game Changer Wrestling, Mike Lombardi's Northeast Wrestling and other high-profile independent promotions.  The duo debuted for the NWA last year.

"Our next step is a lawsuit for trademark infringement and creating confusion in the marketplace," Rob Begley (Dalishus) commented.
