WOW - Women of Wrestling Episode 25: Wild Card
This week’s show comes from LA Comic Con. They have some quick interviews with fans.
Randi Rah Rah and Coach Campanelli (WOW Tag Team Champions) vs Miami Sweet Heat (Lindsey and Laurie Carlson) w/Lana Starr
This match looks as if it was recorded on a cell phone with a “Acquired footage from LA Comic Con” banner.
It starts with all four women attacking each other in the ring. Coach and Laurie start off and Coach goes for a fast cover after getting out of an arm bar on the mat. Randi is tagged in and they hit a Russian Leg Sweep STO combo with a cove for two. Randi gets a roll up for two. They get a series of reversals until Randi is whipped to Miami Sweet Heat’s corner, where Lindsey is tagged in.
Randi hits a drop kick on the two of them and covers Lindsey for two with a rope break. Randi comes off the ropes for a crucifix cover and then Lindsey reverses it for two. Randi gets a waist lock, and Lindsey goes to the ropes so that Laurie can nail Randi from the outside. Lindsey rolls Randi up for two after a clothesline. Laurie is tagged in, gets a charge into Randi in the corner and then pulls her out for the two count.
Laurie hits a flipping neck breaker on Randi, and then Lindsey tags in and covers, but the ref is keeping Coach from getting into the ring. The ref sees and counts two. Lindsey locks on a side headlock and Randi elbows her way out of it. Lindsey pulls her down bny her hair for two. Lindsey works over Randi and keeps her from tagging out. Lana Starr attacks when the ref isn’t looking and Randi is draped over the second rope.
Laurie tags in and Randi is able to slam her head into the top turnbuckle. She somersaults to her corner to tag in Coach, who cleans house. Coach gets an airplane spin on Lindsey and then hits a Russian Leg Sweep. Randi helps her get an assisted Senton bomb, but Lana Starr is distracting the ref. Laurie grabs Coach and hits a DDT. Lindsey covers for the pin and the win.
Winners and NEW WOW Tag Team Champions: Miami Sweet Heat
Coach says that they didn’t win the match fair and square, and she wants a rematch tonight. Lana Starr refuses. Coach says they are going to get that rematch and they will do whatever it takes to win. Lana says they will never get a rematch. Coach calls them chicken. This causes Laurie to say they will get the rematch.
I don’t know if it was because they were in a different venue, but this match’s moves were sloppy, and with the degraded footage, hard to watch. I am glad they were in front of a big crowd in a different venue, but I don’t think these teams are ready for this kind of thing.
We then get footage from Kandi Krush going to a “haunted house” as per a note from Siren the Voodoo Doll. She goes through what seems like a pretty standard “haunted maze” with people popping out to scare her. Tons of jump scares until we get to where Chainsaw has Kandi’s groves. Chainsaw locks Kandi in a room, and when the door opens again, a woman says she’s the one behind all of this. The announcers let us know it’s Chainsaw’s little sister.
She is Angelica Dante who’s behind all of this and Kandi can have her gloves back after one more challenge. And it’s waiting for her in the ring. Kandi is then taken from the room and put in a corridor to crawl through to leave the haunted house.
We then get a recording of Kandi’s live Instagram after the haunted house. She says she is going to Comic Con to end this once and for all.
Chainsaw w/Angelica Dante vs Kandi Krush
This match is also changed to look like it’s filmed by cell phone.
Kandi rushes the ring and hits a Thesz press. Kandi then runs into Chainsaw in the ropes. Chainsaw leaves the ring and Kandi follows to brawl outside the ring. Chainsaw returns to the ring and Kandi goes up top for a leaping crucifix pin, but Chainsaw catches her. Kandi tries for a sunset flip, but it does work. Chainsaw tries to drop down on her, but Kandi escapes.
Kandi gets a stunner and covers for two and Chainsaw rolls out of the ring. Chainsaw slams Kandi’s head into the turnbuckle and then Chainsaw chokes her in the corner. Kandi is whipped across the ring and when Chainsaw comes for the cannonball, Kandi dodges. Chainsaw slams Kandi’s head repeatedly into the ring apron, which I have heard is the hardest part of the ring. Kandi gets a foot up to stop the final blow, and then puts the elbows to Chainsaw. She rolls Chainsaw into the ring and then hits an uppercut from the ropes and then leaps off the second rope for another uppercut for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kandi Krush
Kandi demands answers because she’s done everything asked of her. Angelica says it will be one more challenge, and Kandi chases her out of the ringside area.
They do a nice hype video for LA Comic Con.
We are told that Leia Makoa will be replaced by Tiki Chamorro in the Gauntlet Match.
The Gauntlet is more of a “Royal Rumble” match where you are eliminated via pinfall or over the top rope to the floor. They also have it in the “cell phone” style footage and we join it in progress because the show only has about 7 minutes left.
Left in the ring are Crystal Waters, Vivian Rivera, Robbie Rocket, Tiki Chamorra, Foxxy Fierce, and Penelope Pink.
Robbie pins Crystal, so she is eliminated.
Tiki dumps Robbie so she is eliminated.
Vivian pins Tiki so she is eliminated.
Foxxy dumps Vivian so she is eliminated.
Foxxy goes for a roll up but only gets two. Pink puts Foxxy over the top on the apron, but Foxxy nails Pink with a kick and goes to the top for a flying crossbody for two. Pink ge4ts a sliding clothesline and then hits a flipping neck breaker for the pin and the win.
Winner and NEW WOW Champion: Penelope Pink
This means Lana Starr has control out of all of the titles in WOW. Lana asks Pink how it feels, and she says she told us. Pink says she told us she was the best thing WOW has ever seen. She then says it’s their world and we all just live in it.
