LAST STOP BEFORE REVOLUTION: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-03-03 23:20:00

It’s time for AEW Rampage and we’re live, partner! The show is coming from the Cow Palace in San Francisco CA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho, and Tony Schiavone.

Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta vs Top Flight vs Dark Order vs Aussie Open

The Dark Order attacks Claudio and Wheeler from behind and everyone is brawling at ringside.

The bell rings and Aussie Open works over Darius and when Dante tries to come into the ring, they take him out as well. Top Flight is able to turn things around and finally Darius and Kyle Fletcher are working in the ring. As they go to the ropes, Reynolds tags in and we again have people all attacking each other until eventually we get to Silver and Claudio working in the ring.

Silver dives at Claudio and Claudio grabs him in the air and gives him a back breaker. Silver is able to tag in Reynolds and Yutta comes into the ring and attacks with Claudio. Claudiop gets an uppercut and Yuta is tagged in and then gives Reynolds a double boot as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full picture, Claudio is still working over Reynolds. Yuta is tagged in and takes out Silver before running into a drop kick from Reynolds. Dante and Aussie Open are tagged in and Dante hits a leap onto everyone on the outside. Fletched gets hit by a DDT for a two count. The tag team alarm goes off and everyone is in the ring. After an attempt at a pin on Darius, Blackpool Combat Club are throwing hands with Aussie Open. Dark Order is next to work over Top Flight.

Yuta sneaks in and gets the seat belt on Darius for the pin and the win.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club

The fight continues up the ramp with Blackpool Combat Club and Dark Order fighting to the back. It was pure spotfest craziness.

We get a video from Jungle Boy in the dark and he’s fine with it being a fight and he says it will be a Final Burial match at Revolution.

Riho vs Emi Sakura

A return to this pairing, which we saw a lot in the beginning of AEW.

They lock up and go to the ropes where Riho breaks clean. Emi is able to grab Riho and toss her across the ring by her hair and then slams her when Riho tries for a cross body. Riho is able to recover and get a drop kick after bridging out of a pin by Emi. Riho gets a suplex for two. Emi and Riho fight over who will whip who into the corner, and Emi wins that battle, but Riho is able to knock Emi out of the ring.

Riho goes to the floor and charges, and Emi grabs her for a back breaker, and then Emi hits a cross body on Riho against the barricade as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Emi has been beating down Riho on the small screen, and Emi whips her into the ropes, and Rihjo gets a drop toe hold in the ropes and then hits a tiger fade kick into the ropes and a diving crossbody from the top for a two count. Emi is able to get a twisting slam on Riho and then hits a running splash in the corner for a cover and a two count. Emi tries for a butterfly suplex and Riho escapes and gets a rollup for two.

Emi gets a drop kick to Riho’s legs and then tries for a roll up for two. Riho gets a knee, but Emi gets a clothesline and covers for two. Emi goes to the top and barely hits a moonsault. Riho misses a double stomp from the top. Riho gets a spinning crucifix for the pin and the win.

Winner: Riho

Riho didn’t quite get that crucifix, but they turned it into a move where Riho spun around Emi and got her down for a pin.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs The Already In The Ring Serpentico

Hobbs comes to the ring holding the big gold donut he won at the ladder match Wednesday.

Hobbs hits a spine buster, lifts Serpentico into a torture rack and then slams him for the pin and the win.

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs

After the match he says it doesn’t matter who wins on Sunday, he will beat either of them.

Renee is with Takeshida and asks him how things are going so far. He says he’s had great moments but no big wins. He says he may need to go back to Japan. Don Callis hands him a card and says that Takeshida needs something. And he says he will show Takeshida what he can do, and if it doesn’t work, he’ll drive him to the airport himself.

We get a promo from Mark Briscoe, and he says sometimes he gets confused because he wakes up at a wrestling show. He says that the Lucha Brothers are his friends, and the feud he has with Mark Sterling’s team will be settled at Revolution.

Guess I missed that feud.

Excalibur runs down the card for Revolution.

Mark Henry sets the stage for the main event.

Swerve Strickland and Parker Boudreaux vs Dustin Rhodes and Keith Lee

Swerve and Parker attack from behind before the bell. Dustin fights Swerve on the floor and Lee fights Parker in the ring. Lee batters Parker, and while Parker tries to gouge Lee’s eyes, Lee turns it around and goes back to beating him down in the corner. Swerve and Dustin have made it to their corners, and Dustin is tagged in.

Dustin hits the drop down uppercut and then mounts him in the corner for ten punches to the head. Parker is able to toss Dustin to the corner and give him a short arm lariat as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Swerve has been taking people out, but Dustin gets a massive power slam. Lee and Parker are tagged in and Lee gets a series of blows. Parker is able to start firing back. Lee whips Parker into the ropes and hits the pounce. Lee then pulls Swerve in over the typo rope and stands over him menacingly. Swerve hits a series of kicks, but Lee is able to fire back. Lee gets in strikes as Swerve gets in kicks.  Swerve escapes from Lee’s grasp and tries a charge, but Lee is able to grab him, lifting him over his head, and slam him single handed.

Swerve rolls to the apron, and Lee climbs the ropes and pulls Swerve up. Parker is able to get a low blow on Lee, but Dustin shows, gets in a bit before Parker knocks him to the outside.   Parker grabs Lee, holding him as Swerve goes to the top. Swerve hits a moonsault onto Dustin on the floor by going off of Lee’s chest. Parker hits a boot to the side of Lee’s head.

Parker holds Lee for the stomp from Swerve from the top, and Parker covers for two. Dustin hits a flying bulldog on Parker. Swerve takes out Dustin and Lee hits a cross body on Parker. Swerve hits Lee with a flatliner. Dustin hits a Canadian Destroyer on Swerve. Lee tosses Dustin in the Parker and Swerve bails from the ring. Lee hits the F5 for the pin and the win.

Winners: Dustin Rhodes and Keith Lee

As the commentary team is going down the card, Ricky Starks attacks Jericho. They brawl onto the stage as referees try to pull them apart.
