AEW DARK RECAP FOR 2/28/23

Action Andretti vs. Tony Deppen

The match begins with Deppen backing Andretti into the corner before slapping him in the face, Andretti scores a takedown on Deppen before getting him in a front headlock. Deppen gets free and Andretti drops him with a snap mare, Deppen gets up and he kicks Andretti in the midsection. Andretti and Deppen go through a series of holds until Andretti nails Deppen with a drop kick, Deppen looks for a handshake and Andretti slaps his hand away. Deppen recovers and he sends a charging Andretti out of the ring, Deppen leaves the ring and he slams Andretti on the arena floor before sending him back first into the edge of the ring. Deppen gets Andretti back in the ring and he follows him in there to get a near fall on a pin attempt, Andretti fights back and he drops Deppen before landing a basement drop kick. Andretti then hits Deppen with a spinning splash for a near fall, Andretti traps Deppen in the corner while landing strikes. Deppen recovers and he drops Andretti with a back elbow strike for a near fall, Deppen traps Andretti in the corner while landing strikes. Andretti recovers and he cracks Deppen with more strikes, Deppen drops Andretti again before attacking his arm.

Andretti uses a jaw breaker to get free from Deppen, Andretti then hits Deppen with a flying forearm strike followed by a clothesline and neck breaker. Deppen leaves the ring and Andretti nails him with a suicide dive, Andretti gets Deppen back in the ring before landing a super kick for a near fall. Deppen avoids a split legged moonsault from Andretti before landing a knee strike, Deppen then hits Andretti with a springboard code breaker for a near fall. Deppen goes to the top rope and Andretti meets him up there, Deppen knocks Andretti off the ropes and Andretti returns to land a pele kick. Andretti goes to the top rope and he hits Deppen with a superplex, Andretti then hits Deppen with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Andretti nails Deppen with a few kicks before Deppen counters with a knee strike, Andretti recovers to hit Deppen with an enziguri. Deppen recovers and he rakes the eyes of Andretti, Andretti fights back to drop Deppen before landing a standing shooting star press for a three count.

Winner: Action Andretti

Evil Uno vs. J. Spade

The match begins with Uno taking Spade down while working over his arm, Spade gets free and he goes after the arm of Uno. Uno takes Spade down again while applying a headlock to him, Spade gets free and he gets Uno in a headlock. Spade and Uno exchange shoulder tackles until Spade goes down, Uno then hits Spade with a Manhattan drop followed by a neck breaker. Uno traps Spade in the corners while landing chops, Spade avoids a final chop before landing a few strikes on Uno. Uno recovers and he manages to drop Spade with a right, Uno then hits Spade with a back breaker followed by a senton. Uno gets Spade into the corner again before landing some chops, Spade fights back and Uno nails him with a boot to the face. Spade avoids a charging Uno before landing a drop kick, Spade goes to the top rope and Uno avoids his leap off. Uno then hits Spade with a series of clotheslines, Uno then hits Spade with Something Evil for a three count.

Winner: Evil Uno

Parker Boudreaux w/Trench vs. Joe Ocasio

The match begins with Boudreaux immediately knocking Ocasio down before grinding away on his face, Ocasio fights back and Boudreaux drops him again before sending him face first into the mat below. Boudreaux traps Ocasio in the corner before landing a right, Ocasio fights back again and he nails Boudreaux with a few strikes. Ocasio then hits Boudreaux with a knee strike, Boudreaux recovers to hit Ocasio with a snake eyes followed by a leaping boot to the face. Boudreaux goes for a splash and Ocasio gets out of the way before landing a torpedo headbutt, Boudreaux sends a charging Ocasio into the corner before landing an avalanche followed by a modified uranage for a three count.

Winner: Parker Boudreaux w/Trench

Capt. Shawn Dean vs. Invictus Khash

The match begins with Dean getting Khash in a headlock, Khash gets free and Dean drops him with a shoulder tackle. Dean then reapplies the headlock to Khash, Khash backs Dean into the corner before missing a strike attempt. Dean gets Khash in the corner while landing some strikes, Dean gets Khash out of the corner before landing a back body drop. Khash recovers and he nails a charging Dean with a knee to the midsection, Khash follows up by landing multiple shoulder thrusts to the midsection of Dean. Dean fights back and he nails Khash with a series of strikes, Khash recovers and he catches Dean in an abdominal stretch. Dean gets free and he nails Khash with a few clotheslines, Dean then hits a swinging Khash with a float over DDT. Dean’s injured ribs give out on him and Khash nails him with a knee to the midsection, Dean recovers and he hits a swinging Khash with a Grace Driver for a three count.

Winner: Capt. Shawn Dean

Leila Grey vs. Sahara Seven

The match begins with Grey backing Seven into the corner before exchanging shoves with her, Seven then hits Grey with a knee lift followed by a neck breaker. Grey leaves the ring and she cracks Seven with a right when she tried getting her back in, Grey traps Seven on the ring apron before kicking her in the head. Grey mounts a downed Seven while landing some strikes, Grey then drops Seven with a face buster. Grey follows up by hitting Seven with a knee strike followed by a bulldog for a near fall, Grey keeps Seven down while applying a chin lock to her. Seven gets free and she cracks Grey with a few strikes, Grey escapes the grasp of Seven before getting her in a cobra clutch. Grey gets Seven in a triangle choke and Seven taps out.

Winner: Leila Grey

Willie Mack vs. Joe Keys

The match begins with Mack tripping up Keys before landing an arm drag, Mack then takes Keys down with a rana. Keys fights back and Mack levels him with a running knee strike, Mack climbs the ropes and Keys grabs his feet to prevent it. Mack goes to the ring apron and he hits Keys with a slingshot spear, Mack hurts himself during the spear and Keys nails him with some strikes. Keys then hits Mack with multiple knee strikes followed by a slam for a near fall, Key then hits Mack with a back breaker followed by a clothesline. Keys goes for a top rope diving headbutt and Mack gets out of the way, Mack then hits Keys with an exploder suplex before dropping him in the corner. Mack follows up with a cannonball on Keys for a near fall, Keys escapes the grasp of Mack before eating a pop up elbow strike. Mack then hits Keys with a stunner followed by a top rope splash for a three count.

Winner: Willie Mack

Shane Taylor vs. Adrian Alanis

The match begins with Taylor shoving Alanis across the ring, Alanis gets mad and he cracks Taylor with a right before landing a few follow up shots. Taylor recovers and he drops Alanis with a shoulder tackle, Taylor traps Alanis in the corner while landing strikes. Taylor follows up by tossing Alanis across the ring and landing an avalanche afterwards, Alanis fights back and he cracks Taylor with some more strikes followed by a knee lift. Taylor quickly recovers and he drops Alanis with a headbutt, Taylor then hits Alanis with a uranage followed by a splash for a near fall. Alanis gets free from Taylor and he boots him in the face, Taylor then hits a charging Alanis with a spine buster followed by a knee strike. Taylor follows up with an elbow strike followed by a package piledriver on Alanis for a three count.

Winner: Shane Taylor

Lee Moriarty vs. Vary Morales

The match begins with Moriarty scoring a takedown on Morales before going after his arm, Morales gets free and Moriarty nails him with a shoulder tackle followed by a few strikes. Morales recovers and he drops Moriarty with a rana, Moriarty briefly goes to the ropes before cracking Morales with a few strikes. Morales goes to the ring apron before climbing the ropes, Moriarty knocks Morales to the arena floor before landing a double stomp on his arm. Moriarty follows up by sending Morales shoulder first into the ring steps, Moriarty gets Morales back in the ring before landing strikes. Morales fights back and he cracks Moriarty with a few chops, Moriarty recovers to drop Morales and roll him up for a near fall. Moriarty keeps Morales down before getting him in a bow and arrow stretch, Moriarty keeps Morales down still while biting his hand. Morales gets up while Moriarty continues attacking his injured arm, Morales hits Moriarty with a few chops before Moriarty kicks his injured arm. Morales escapes the grasp of Moriarty and he nails Moriarty with a tornado DDT, Morales goes to the top rope and he misses a frog splash attempt. Moriarty hits Morales with a leg lariat for a three count.

Winner: Lee Moriarty

Arjun Singh vs. Blake Li

The match begins with Singh scoring a takedown on Li, Singh then cracks Li with a kick to the midsection before getting him in a headlock. Li gets free and Singh nails him with a knee to the midsection, Li fights back and he nails a charging Singh with a drop kick. Singh recovers and he drops a charging Li on the top turnbuckle before landing follow up strikes, Singh then drops Li with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Li fights back and he rolls up Singh before landing a back elbow strike, Singh recovers and he nails a charging Li with a power slam. Singh misses a knee strike and Li hits him with an elbow strike from the ring apron, Li goes for a springboard move and Singh counters with an European uppercut. Singh then hits Li with a running knee strike for a three count.

Winner: Arjun Singh

Skye Blue vs. Dream Girl Ellie

The match begins with Ellie slapping Blue in the face, Blue gets angry and she nails Ellie with a few strikes before eating a knee to the midsection. Ellie and Blue exchange some roll ups for a few near fall, Blue ends the exchange by hitting Ellie with a basement drop kick. Blue misses a head kick and Ellie nails her with a release German suplex followed by a drop kick for a near fall, Ellie traps Blue in the corner before landing shoulder thrusts. Ellie then hits a seated Blue with a clothesline for another near fall, Blue fights back and they trade more roll ups. Blue gets up and she nails Ellie with an enziguri followed by a drop kick for a near fall, Ellie recovers and she hits Blue with a knee strike. Blue recovers to hit Ellie with a super kick followed by a full nelson slam for a three count.

Winner: Skye Blue

Matt Sydal, AR Fox & Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) vs. The Trustbusters (Ari Daivari, Slim J, Jeeves Kay & Sonny Kiss)

The match begins with all the members of The Trustbusters eating drop kicks from the opposing team, Daivari quickly recovers to drop Darius with a back elbow strike. Daivari traps Darius in the corner before stomping away on him, Kiss tags in and Darius rolls Kiss up for a near fall. Kiss recovers and catches Darius in a roll up for a near fall, Kiss and Darius exchange some arm drags as well. Kiss recovers and nails Darius with a jaw breaker, Kay tags in and Darius cracks him with a drop kick. Fox tags in and he nails Kay with a leg lariat, Dante tags in and he attacks the arm of Kay before eating a few strikes. Kay and Dante exchange some arm drags before Sydal makes a blind tag, Sydal and Dante work together to hit Kay with a double drop kick. J tags in and Sydal fakes him out before Daivari tags in, Sydal drops Daivari before landing a standing moonsault for a near fall. Darius tags in and he goes after the arm of Daivari, Daivari sends Darius out of the ring and Darius fights all of his opponents before Daivari hits him with a rope assisted neck breaker. Darius falls to the arena floor and he gets worked over by the opposition, Kay tags in as Darius is thrown back into the ring.

Kay hits a downed Darius with a knee drop for a near fall, Kay then hits Darius with a slam followed by a splash. J tags in and he nails an elevated Darius with a top rope high cross body for a near fall, Daivari tags back in and he cracks Darius with a few strikes before getting him in a chin lock. Darius gets free and he drops Daivari with an enziguri, Fox and Kay are tagged in by their respective partners. Fox quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Fox eventually drops J with a twisting brain buster to clear the ring. Daivari prevents a Fox suicide dive before Kay lands a super kick followed by a Michinoku Driver for a near fall, Daivari tags in and he tags J back into the match. Top Flight interferes to help Fox before J is forced to leap off the top rope, Sydal tags in and he hits J with a meteora for a near fall. Everybody from both teams hit the ring and they all take each other out, J then hits Sydal with a diving reverse DDT for a near fall. Kiss returns to hit Sydal with a low blow while Daivari distracted the referee for a near fall, Darius returns to attack Kiss and J. Sydal and Dante take out people with a suicide dive, Dante tagged in and he hits J with a Nose Dive for a three count.

Winners: Matt Sydal, AR Fox & Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh vs. Jackson Drake, Jay Malachi & Oliver Sawyer

The match begins with Jarrett attacking Sawyer before the bell sounded, Jarrett quickly drops Sawyer with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Jarrett then hits Sawyer with a back body drop before tagging Lethal in, Lethal and Jarrett double team Sawyer for a near fall. Malachi tags in and he nails Lethal with a few strikes, Malachi then hits Lethal with a springboard rana from out of nowhere. Singh tags in and Malachi attacks him by landing a drop kick, Singh blocks a drop kick from Malachi before smashing him into the mat multiple times. Drake interferes and Singh immediately knocks him out of the ring before Lethal takes him out with a suicide dive, Jarrett tags in and he gets Malachi in the figure four leg lock to force a tap out.

Winners: Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh. Lethal mocks Schiavone before saying he doesn’t care who the fourth team is in the AEW World Tag Team Title Match at AEW Revolution, Jarrett says nobody needs to worry about their strategy heading into the match before mocking their upcoming opponents.

Peter Avalon vs. Dean Alexander

The match begins with Avalon attacking Alexander before the bell sounded, Avalon traps Alexander in the corner before stomping away on him. Alexander fights back and Avalon nails him with a chop block, Avalon keeps Alexander down while applying a single leg crab. Alexander eventually gets to the ropes to break the submission attempt, Alexander continues fighting back and he drops Avalon a few times with a few clotheslines. Alexander then hits Avalon with a back body drop followed by a few strikes, Avalon recovers to hit Alexander with a DDT followed by the Martinis for a three count.

Winner: Peter Avalon

After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Peter Avalon. Avalon talks about how Chris Jericho has embarrassed him multiple times on AEW Dynamite, Avalon says he has Jericho’s number and he will see him on Dynamite.

Orange Cassidy & Danhausen vs. The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry)

The match begins with Henry scoring a takedown on Cassidy before taunting him, Cassidy gets up and he drops Henry with an arm drag. Henry recovers to drop Cassidy with multiple arm drags of his own, Cassidy recovers and he catches Henry in a few roll ups. Danhausen tags in and Drake gets the tag a short time later, Danhausen challenges Drake to a test of strength before stomping on Drake’s feet. Danhausen looks for a slam and Drake defends before landing a few strikes, Danhausen curses Drake before sending him face first into the middle turnbuckle. Cassidy tags in and he double teams Drake alongside Danhausen, Cassidy then drops Drake with a rana. Henry interferes and that allows Drake to drop Cassidy with a chop, Drake traps Cassidy in the corner while landing more strikes. Henry tags in and he attacks a cornered Cassidy before tagging Drake in, Drake hits Cassidy with a slingshot swanton bomb. Henry works over Cassidy on the arena floor while Drake distracts the ref, Drake gets Cassidy back in the ring before stomping away on him. Cassidy fights back and Drake nails him with a slam, henry tags in and he gets Cassidy in an octopus stretch.

Cassidy gets free as Drake makes a blind tag to double team Cassidy alongside Henry, Drake climbs the ropes and he misses a Vader Bomb attempt. Henry tags in and Cassidy avoids him before tagging Danhausen in, Danhausen quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Danhausen then spikes Henry with a package DDT for a near fall, Drake hits the ring and he attacks both Cassidy and Danhausen. Cassidy and Danhausen use a double drop kick to knock Drake out of the ring, Cassidy goes for a suicide dive and Drake nails him with a strike instead. Drake tags in and he hits Danhausen with a senton for a near fall, Henry tags in and he hits Danhausen with a top rope double stomp for a near fall. Henry keeps Danhausen down while stomping away on him, Danhausen fights back and Henry hits him with a spin kick to the head. Cassidy returns and he hits Henry with a tornado DDT, Drake returns and he knocks Cassidy to the arena floor. Danhausen returns and he nails Drake with a German suplex after some help from Cassidy, Danhausen and Cassidy hit Henry with a double choke slam for a three count.

Winners: Orange Cassidy & Danhausen
