AEW DARK RECAP FOR 2/21/23
Slim J w/Ari Daivari, Sonny Kiss & VSK vs. Matt Sydal
The match begins with J leaving the ring after a shoving exchange with Sydal, Sydal takes J down with a headlock when he returns to the ring. J trash talks with Sydal before catching him in a small package for a near fall, J then drops Sydal with a shoulder tackle. Sydal recovers to drop J with some hip tosses before getting him in an arm bar, J gets free after raking the eyes of Sydal. Sydal manages to still drop J and land a standing moonsault for a near fall, Sydal keeps J down before getting him in a crossbow stretch. Sydal releases the hold before cornering J and landing some strikes, J gets Sydal on the ring apron and Sydal returns to the ring before landing a jumping head kick. Daivari interferes and he gets Sydal out of the ring while J distracts the ref, Daivari and company work over Sydal before getting him back in the ring. J sits Sydal down before getting him in an inverted triangle choke, J releases the hold and Sydal rolls him up for a near fall. Sydal gets up and he nails J with a few kicks before eating clothesline smashes from J, J then hits Sydal with a springboard reverse DDT for a near fall.
Sydal is sent out of the ring and worked over by Daivari and company while the ref is distracted, Sydal returns to the ring and J nails him with strikes. J drops Sydal before applying a chin lock to him, Sydal gets free and he drops J with a spin kick. Sydal nails J with some more strikes before landing another spin kick, Sydal then hits J with a side slam for a near fall. J fights back and he drags Sydal up the ropes, J knocks Sydal off the ropes and Sydal gets him down with a rana for a near fall. J fights back and he catches Sydal in a full nelson slam for a near fall, Daivari argues with the referee while J accidentally takes an interfering VSK out. Sydal then hits J with a Lightning Spiral for a three count.
Winner: Matt Sydal
After the match, The Trustbusters jump Matt Sydal until Top Flight and AR Fox make the save.
Julia Hart vs. Devlyn Macabre
The match begins with Hart dropping Macabre with an arm drag, Hart backs Macabre into the corner while choking her. Macabre fights back and she hits Hart with a few strikes, Hart recovers and she uses the top rope to clothesline Macabre. Hart stands over a downed Macabre while landing strikes and stomps on her, Hart then hits Macabre with a corner clothesline followed by more strikes. Hart drops Macabre with a back elbow strike before mounting her and landing more strikes, Hart goes for a standing moonsault and Macabre gets out of the way. Hart recovers and she drops Macabre with a leg sweep, Hart applies the Heartless to Macabre and Macabre taps out.

The Workhorsemen (JD Drake & Anthony Henry) vs. Oliver Sawyer & Jay Malachi
The match begins with Henry going to work on the arm of Sawyer, Sawyer fights back and Henry drops him with a chop. Sawyer goes for a front headlock and Henry gets free before being rolled up for a near fall, Drake makes a blind tag and he hits Sawyer with a boot to the face. Drake drops Sawyer with a chop before landing stomps, Henry tags back in and he nails a cornered Sawyer with a forearm strike followed by a pump handle gut buster. Henry then applies an octopus hold to Sawyer before applying a modified single leg crab to him, Henry drops Sawyer with a snap mare before kicking him in the back. Drake tags back in and he nails Sawyer with a slingshot swanton bomb, Drake follows up by hitting Sawyer with a slam. Malachi tags in and he starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Drake recovers to hit a leaping Malachi with a release German suplex. Drake then hits Malachi with a flat liner for a three count.

The Renegades (Robyn & Charlette) vs. Lizzy & Peyton Blair
The match begins with The Renegades jumping their opponents before the bell sounds, Robyn traps one of the opponents in the corner while stomping away on her. Charlette tags in and she stomps away on her cornered foe, Robyn tags back in and both of The Renegades stomp away on their opponent. Charlette tags in and she nails her opponents with a chop, Robyn tags back in and both of The Renegades land more chops. The Renegades attack both of their opponents before Charlette hits one of them with a pump kick, Robyn tags back in alongside the other Blair. The Renegades hit their opponent with a modified Hart Attack for a three count.
Winners: The Renegades (Robyn & Charlette)
- Rohit Raju & Jora Johl are interviewed, Raju says they feel fantastic tonight and they are tired of playing the good soldier. Raju says he and Johl are coming together to find a path to success, Johl says some stuff in his native tongue.
Preston Vance w/Jose The Assistant vs. Blanco Loco
The match begins with Vance getting Loco in a headlock, Loco gets free and Vance drops him with a shoulder tackle. Loco fights back and he nails Vance with a head kick, Vance recovers and he sends Loco into the corner while landing strikes. Vance then hits Loco with multiple corner clotheslines, Vance keeps Loco trapped in the corner while landing more strikes. Loco gets free and Vance nails him with a spine buster, Vance then hits Loco with a discus lariat for a three count.
Winner: Preston Vance w/Jose The Assistant
After the match, Preston Vance takes the mask of Blanco Loco.
Tony Deppen vs. Caleb Konley
The match begins with Deppen and Konley taking turns working over the other’s arm, Deppen kicks Konley in the midsection before eating a back e;bow strike. Deppen knocks Konley to the ring apron and Konley hits him with an enziguri, Konley then hits Deppen with a slingshot splash for a near fall. Deppen recovers to drop Konley and land a knee drop to the back of his head, Deppen then hits Konley with an STF followed by a senton for a near fall. Deppen drops Konley with a snap mare before kicking him in the back, Konley fights back and Deppen rakes his eyes. Deppen traps Konley in the corner while stretching his arms in the ropes, Deppen goes for another senton and Konley gets his knees up. Konley then cracks Deppen with a series of strikes, Konley then drops Deppen with a flying shoulder tackle. Konley sets up for his finisher and Deppen fights back before eating a fisherman buster suplex for a near fall, Konley goes to the middle rope and Deppen avoids his leap before landing a knee strike. Deppen then hits Konley with a half and half suplex followed by a forearm strike for a three count.
Winner: Tony Deppen
Iron Savages (Bronson & Boulder) vs. Chris Sandson & Terry Kid
The match begins with Sandson nailing Bronson with some kicks, Bronson recovers and he nails Sandson with multiple elbow strikes. Bronson then hits Sandson with a release German suplex, Boulder and Kid are tagged into the match. Boulder quickly levels Kid with a clothesline, Boulder follows up by nailing Kid with multiple back breakers. Sandson interferes and Boulder chases him out of the ring, Sandson returns and Boulder boots him in the face before using Kid to land a Finlay roll on him. Bronson tags in and Boulder throws him onto both opponents for a three count.
Winners: Iron Savages (Bronson & Boulder)
Jora Johl & Rohit Raju vs. Dale Springs & Bryce Cannon
The match begins with Raju getting Springs in a headlock before working over his arm, Springs gets free and he does some work on Raju’s arm. Cannon tags in and he nails the arm of Raju with an axe handle smash, Cannon then hits Raju with a neck breaker for a near fall. Raju gets Cannon into the corner before tagging Johl in, Johl quickly stomps away on a downed Cannon. Cannon catches Johl in a roll up before eating a knee strike followed by a suplex, Johl sends Cannon into the corner before tagging Raju in. Raju then hits Cannon with a reverse DDT for a near fall, Springs tags in and he quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Johl makes a blind tag and he nails Springs with a pump kick for a three count.

Emi Sakura vs. Billie Starkz
The match begins with Starkz nailing Sakura with a slam, Sakura gets mad and she pulls the hair of Starkz before tossing her across the ring. Sakura traps Starkz in the corner while stomping away on her, Sakura then hits Starkz with some chops. Starkz fights back and she kicks sakura in the head before rolling her up for a near fall, Sakura recovers and she sends a charging Starkz into the middle rope. Sakura stomps away on a downed Starkz before applying the Romero Special to her, Sakura releases the hold before stomping away on Starkz. Starkz fights back and she trades strikes with Sakura, Starkz ends the exchange by hitting Sakura with a knee strike. Sakura gets to her knees and Starkz nails her with some kicks, Sakura recovers and she nails Starkz with a chop. Starkz then hits Sakura with a pump kick for a near fall, Sakura fights back and she hits Starkz with a spinning neck breaker. Sakura traps Starkz in the corner while landing strikes and a running cross body block, Sakura climbs the ropes and Starkz gets her down before eating an eye rake.
Sakura gets Starkz in a dragon sleeper and Starkz gets to the ropes, Sakura looks for a back breaker and Starkz defends against it. Starkz then hits Sakura with a tombstone piledriver for a near fall, Starkz goes to the top rope and she lands a swanton bomb. Sakura rolls to the ring apron and Starkz returns to the ropes before missing a swanton bomb attempt, Sakura leaves the ring and she hits Starkz with some chops. Sakura then crushes Starkz with a running cross body block into the stage, Sakura gets Starkz back in the ring before landing a back breaker for a near fall. Sakura then hits Starkz with a top rope moonsault for a three count.
Winner: Emi Sakura
Dak Draper vs. Brady Booker
The match begins with Booker taking Draper down with a headlock, Draper gets free and Booker gets him back down with a headlock. Draper gets free again and Booker gets him in another headlock, Draper pulls on Booker’s hair to get free and roll him up for a near fall. Draper drops Booker with an arm drag before landing a knee drop, Draper goes for a slam and Booker escapes before landing a sunset flip followed by multiple hip tosses. Booker looks for a power slam and Draper sends him into the corner before landing a back suplex, Draper keeps Booker down while landing a few knee strikes. Booker recovers and he nails Draper with a power slam, Booker then hits Draper with multiple football tackles followed by a flying shoulder tackle. Booker then hits Draper with a splash for a near fall, Draper fights back and he nails Booker with a springboard back elbow strike. Booker recovers and he gets Draper in a torture rack to force a tap out.
Winner: Brady Booker
The Wingmen (Peter Avalon, Cezar Bononi & Ryan Nemeth) vs. Jay Marte, Jarrett Diaz & Rich Adonis
The match begins with The Wingmen jumping their opponents from behind, Bononi clears the ring before Avalon works over one of his opponents by landing a clothesline. Bononi tags in and he nails an opponent with a front slam before Avalon lands a basement drop kick, Bononi nails his foe with an elbow strike to the back of the head. Bononi then hits his opponent with a pump handle fall away slam, another opponent tags in and Bononi runs him over. Nemeth tags in and he lands a knee lift on his opponent, Nemeth backs one opponent into the corner before attacking the rest. Diaz tags in and he briefly cleans house against the opposing team, Bononi hits Diaz with a modified choke slam. Avalon nails Diaz with a top rope splash for a three count.

Jeff Jarrett & Satnam Singh vs. The Boys (Brandon & Brent Tate)
The match begins with Jarrett and Singh attacking their opponents before the bell sounds, Jarrett then drops a boy with a hard Irish whip into the corner. Jarrett follows up by hitting a boy with a seated senton, Jarrett follows up by landing a clothesline on a boy. The boy fights back and he tags the other boy in, Jarrett recovers and he nails the boy with some kicks. Singh tags in and he nails the boy with some more strikes, Singh then hits the boy with an avalanche followed by a slam. Singh then hits the boy with several choke slams while on his knee, Singh follows up by landing a cross body block on the boy. Jarrett tags in and the other boy makes a blind tag, the boy then hits Jarrett with a springboard cross body block. The Boys then double team Jarrett for a short time, Singh tags in and he nails a boy with a big boot. Singh then hits The Boys with a double choke slam for a three count.

Tony Nese w/Mark Sterling vs. Trent Berretta
The match begins with Nese backing Berretta into the corner before separating, Nese then drops Berretta with an arm drag. Berretta takes Nese down with a headlock, Nese gets free and Berretta leaves the ring to confront Sterling. Nese also leaves the ring and Berretta cracks him with a few strikes, Berretta then sends Nese into the barricade. Nese tries heading into the crowd and Berretta stops him before landing strikes, Nese fights back and he hits Berretta with a knee before sending him into the ring. Berretta then hits Nese with a drop kick before landing a dive that sends them both crashing to the arena floor, Berretta gets Nese back in the ring before confronting Sterling again. Nese wraps the ring skirt to confuse Berretta and land some strikes, Berretta gets back in the ring and Nese kicks him in the leg. Nese stands over Berretta while stomping away on his injured leg, Berretta goes to the middle rope and Nese side kicks his injured leg. Berretta leaves the ring and Nese follows him out there before sending him into the barricade, Nese then backs Berretta into the ringside edge and the ring steps.
Nese gets Berretta back in the ring before stomping away on his arm, Berretta fights back and he hits Nese with a back body drop. Berretta looks for a suplex and Nese defends before landing more strikes, Berretta recovers and he nails Nese with a suplex. Nese recovers and he drops Berretta neck first on the top, Nese goes for a moonsault and Berretta gets out of the way. Nese fights back and he goes to the middle rope before Berretta gets him off and lands a Saito suplex. Berretta then hits a cornered Nese with a leaping elbow strike, Berretta goes for a tornado DDT and Nese counters by dropping him on the top rope. Nese then hits Berretta with a middle rope moonsault for a near fall, Nese goes to the top rope and Berretta nails him with strikes before meeting him up there. Berretta gets Nese off the ropes by landing a superplex, Berretta and Nese have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Berretta ends the exchange by nailing Nese with a half and half suplex followed by a release German suplex, Berretta then hits Nese with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Nese lands on his feet during a German suplex attempt to land a double stomp on Berretta, Nese then hits Berretta with a sit out pile driver for a near fall.
Nese follows up by landing a top rope frog splash on Berretta for a near fall, Berretta fights back and he catches Nese in a roll up before eating a head kick. Nese then hits a cornered Berretta with a running knee strike, Nese goes for a 450 splash and Berretta gets out of the way. Berretta then hits Nese with a running knee strike followed by a Dude Buster for a three count.
