Hawaii 1986
Randy Savage (with inauthentic ring gear) vs Lars Anderson. Dwayne explains that Ata & Lia decided to work together and they do an invasion angle. We see Rocky & Jake The Snake invade the match.
Ata pitches a Peter Maivia tribute show where the promotions battle in a 7 on 7 match. Lars counters with he’s smoothed over things with Jim Crocket Promotions and he can get Kerry Von Erich to the show. While Lia loves a Von Erich she chooses Ata’s gimmick. Ata says she wants to get Cyndi Lauper to sing the national anthem. Dewey enter the room (post growth spurt, Bradley Constant is playing an 11 year old ), Ata & Rocky are upset he used a knife to cut up fruit. They tell him he’ll be in the ring for the 10 bell salute. Dewey says he wants a real job and they say he’s too young. Dewey says he’s not too young and he doesn’t want to be called Dewey anymore, he’s Dwayne. Rocky says Dwayne Johnson sounds weird. Dewey… we Dwayne says that’s their fault. They laugh at him.
Ata calls Cyndi Lauper’s publicist to offer her the gig. They patch in Cyndi (Becky Lynch) and she accepts the show. Ata gets Cyndi’s ryder.
Back at the studio Rocky & Macho Man cut promos for the show. Lars says it’s too many words and he needs more chest bumping. ATA’s promos show Andre carrying Ric Flair outside and throwing him into a dumpster. I’m the locker room we see a bunch of NWA wrestlers bumping chests (Sting, Kerry Von Erich, Iron Sheik & Dusty Rhodes). Lars Anderson is in the main event against Bad News Brown. Dwayne asks Rocky why he isn’t the one to beat Lars. He explains it’s politics. Bad News trained with Peter and Lars wouldn’t have put over Rocky.
Back at home they are having a party. Dwayne tells Pat he can’t believe Kerry Von Erich is in his home, he has a poster of him in his bedroom. Pat says Kerry is a nice guy and not to be afraid to talk to him. Kerry butters and eats and entire pan of Kings Hawaiian Rolls (the actor needs them as he is tiny considering he’s playing “The Modern Day Warrior”).
Bruno tells Ata than Lauper has arrived in Hawaii. Lia gives a toast to the High Chief and they tells stories about him. Ata isn’t sure she wants Dwayne hearing these stories. Dwayne gets upset and says he’s not a little kid anymore. Lia agrees and says Dwayne should bring Peter’s belt to the ring at the show.
At the tribute show Ata gives the 5 minute cue. Lars suggests the switch Flair and Savage’s matches on the card because Flair needs to sleep it off. Ata veto’s it. Cyndi Lauper has not arrived but another client from the same agent (Jan Hooks of SNL) did. Ata is upset. Lars chimes in this is what happens when you make shows too complicated. Lia says it’s almost show time and Peter hated tardiness. Ata leaves to find Cyndi. She calls Gretchen the agent and they call Cyndi. She explains she’s stuck at the hotel. The driver did use her alias Mona Flambé and now fans know she is there and she can’t leave. Ata explains she though she said mangos flambé (we cut to Bruno using a torch to cook mangoes). Ata says she’ll pick up Cyndi in the alley behind the hotel.
Pat Patterson announces Dwayne and he walks to the ring with Peter’s Championship belt. Backstage Andre & Afa (or Sika) tells Dwayne that Peter watches over the matches and if the ring gets cold it means he’s bored. Flair is passed out on a gurney. Lauper arrives and notices how big Dwayne got. They run to the ring.
Rocky vs. Savage is in the ring. Rocky wins. Cyndi goes to out to sing despite the show having already started. Ata is mad Lars changed up the matches and out on Macho & Rocky early messing up the story. Lia defends him.
Pat introduces Cyndi and she sings. Backstage Rocky erupts in anger as he tells Dwayne and Savage that Lars backed out of the finish and won’t drop the title to Bad News. Dwayne runs off into the locker room to confront Lars telling his disrespecting his grandfather’s memory. He threatens to beat his “f’ing” ass. And the roster tries to hold him back as he charges at Lars.
We see Sting vs Sheik in the ring. Ata is at Gorilla and Rocky comes up and says she needs yo go to the locker room because of Dewey.
Kerry Von Erich comes up to Dewey and says he respects what he did. Ata and Lars start arguing. She’s pissed he changed the finish. Lars says it’s the wrong finish and Rocky says he can finish it right there. The Rock says they went to the ring, mad & sad. We see a photo of the actual show and the Maivia/Johnson family is clearly not happy.
Pat does the 10 bell salute. Dwayne feels guilty for ruining the night. He apologizes to Ata but she says she understands why he did it. Rocky says you can’t fight all the time and you have to set your ego aside. They laugh and Dewey trying to fight someone bigger and older than him.
Lia scolds Ata for still not understanding how the business works. Lars rubs it in and says he was right. It’s just business he’s the booker and he decides who gets the belt and when. Lia says that’s true, but and she takes the title from him and relives him of his duties making Ata the head booker. She says there going to Ruth’s Chris Steak House now.
Back at the Presidential mansion The Rock says even though the night was a success the promotion never recovered from it snd the family fell on hard times. So he understands why Honing is so protective of her nations coffee legacy. He makes a proposal for a trade deal and she says she’ll sleep on it.
