IMPRACTICAL JOKERS TRASHED, BLACKPOOL COMBAT CLUB IN ACTION, MARK BRISCOE & MORE: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2023-02-10 23:02:00

It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded after Dynamite, Wednesday night from the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso Texas. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Chris Jericho.

Kip Sabian, Butcher, and Blade vs The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta)

Yuta and Sabian start off the match by locking up collar and elbow and Sabian backs Yuta into the corner. They move to waistlocks until Yuta locks on an octopus stretch. Yuta uses it to bring Sabian down for a pin and a two count. Yuta is able to tag in Claudio as they run the ropes. Yuta leaves the ring and Sabian goes to leap onto him but decides not to.  Sabian turns around to get hoisted up by Claudio, who slams him down.

Butcher tags in and they lock up and run the ropes. They both try shoulder tackles, but neither goes down. Mox gets tagged in and he goes after the Butcher with kicks. Yuta is tagged in and he goes to work with chops. Butcher whips Yuta into the turnbuckle and gives Yuta a back body drop when he comes out of the corner. Butcher then hits a diving crossbody. Sabian is tagged in and Sabian tries for a backdrop stunner. Yuta blocks the first attempt, but Sabian gets the second, leaving Yuta on the mat in the wrong corner.

Sabian taunts the BCC and then tags in Blade. Butcher and Blade work over Yuta and then Butcher tags in and goes to work on Yuta. Sabian’s team keeps Yuta away from his corner with quick tags.

Yuta is able to get away and tags in Mox, who works over Sabian in the corners. Mox is able to lock in a double wrist lock and hits the hammer and anvil elbows. Sabian escapes, they run the ropes and Sabian gets a high knee, knocking Moxley into Sabian’s corner. Mox tries fighting his way out, but Butcher and Black knock down Mox and pull him, crotch first, into the ring post. They move to attacking Mox on the floor as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Sabian has Mox on the top turnbuckle and they fight until Sabian tries for the Hurrancanrana, but Mox instead uses it to power bomb Sabian from the top. Butcher is able to tag in first and Mox hits a haymaker lariat on Butcher. Claudio is tagged in, and Blade tags in as well, so Claudio whips him into the corners until Penelope Ford gets on the apron to get an arm in front of Blade.

This allows Blade to turn the tables. He only gets two times to whip Claudio before Claudio reverses it and hits a series of uppercuts followed by a short arm lariat. Claudio tries to start the giant swing, but Sabian leaps on his back to stop it. Blade rolls out of the ring and Claudio drops Sabian into the giant swing instead. When he releases Sabian, Blade gets a surprise rollup and a two count. Claudio is able to put Blade in a sharp shooter, and Butcher breaks it up.

Time for the tag team siren to go off and everyone gets an attack. After that, Claudio gets a fireman’s carry takeover on Blade into a pin, broken up by Sabian. Yuta gets on the top and Claudio tosses him at Butcher. Sabian gets a shoulder thrust on Claudio from the apron, but when he leaps into the ring, Mox is able to grab him and hit the cutter.  Claudio gets the pop up uppercut for the pin and the win.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club

Darby Allin & Sting promise they will go out in a blaze of glory.

Ricky Starks promises to take out Daniel Garcia on Rampage next week.

Q and Merv from Impractical Jokers show up with Jericho’s bat. Jericho says he won’t take the bat back from them, his friends will. The entire Jericho Appreciation Society shows up to beat them down and take the bat back. The JAS set up a table and one is slammed into the other on the table.  Happy Cross Promotion, boys!

Lexi was interviewing Dustin Rhodes outside the building.  Swerve Strickland and friends attacked and beat him down.

Marina Shafir vs Ruby Soho

They lock up and Shafir forces Ruby into the corner. They move to the middle of the ring where Shafir gets a sweep on Ruby. Shafir then gets a headlock takeover. Ruby works up to her feet and they trade arm bars. Ruby is able to get a  series of strikes and then gets a shoulder to the midsection. Shafir whips Ruby into the corner and Ruby comes out with a clothesline. As Shafir tries to get up, Ruby kicks her in the chest.

Vickie Guerrero, who came to the ring with Shafir, gets on the apron. This distracts Ruby so that Shafir can get a series of kicks, followed by a pump handle rear suplex and a two count. This allows us to go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Shafir has Ruby on the mat in an arm bar. Runny works to her feet and Shafir whips her into the corner. Ruby puts the brakes on and grabs Shafir in a leg scissors when she charges in and uses that to slam Shafir’s head into the middle turnbuckle. Ruby gets in a kick and then a back heel trip into a two count. Shafir is able to get a judo toss after her and Ruby jockey for control in the middle of the ring.

Shafir keeps wrist control and kicks Ruby’s face. Ruby is able to get a shoulder capture suplex for a two count. Ruby goes to the top, Shafir gets out of the way and Ruby rolls through. Ruby goes for No Future, but Shafir blocks it. Ruby then gets a series of head butts followed by Destination Unknown for the pin and the win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

This was, by far, Marina Shafir’s best match. She brought the toughness of MMA into a Pro Wrestling match for the first time that I have seen.  Nice improvement over the last few months.

After the match Saraya and Toni Storm come to the ring and Saraya heels the crowd. As they are coming to the ring, Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter attack them. Referees try to break up the fight and Ruby stays in the ring to stay out of it.

Mark Briscoe returned to AEW TV!

Ortiz said he was always going to have Eddie Kingston's back, even if he had to be the martyr to help Kingston overcome the House of Black.

Hangman Page was interviewed by Renee about his feud with Moxley.  Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford mocked him.  Page was going to attack Kip but held himself back and stormed off.

Jungle Boy vs The Already In The Ring Ryan Nemeth

Jungle Boy starts the match with a flying drop kick and then leaps onto Nemeth on the floor. They return to the ring and go to the top. They fight on the top, JB hits a cross body but Nemeth forces him to roll through into a pin for two.  Nemeth is able to get a DDT on JB and then gyrates for the crowd, who do not appreciate it.

JB hits a rope assisted sliced bread and follows with an elbow strike to the back of Nemeth’s head for the pin and the win.

Winner: Jungle Boy

Brian Cage and Prince Nana come out onto the stage to taunt JB.

Ortiz was backstage to address Eddie Kingston's attack on him. Ortiz said that he would always be with him, but if the only way to stop him from being the House of Black's martyr was to face, then he was game.

Ortiz was backstage to address Eddie Kingston's attack on him. Ortiz said that he would always be with him, but if the only way to stop him from being the House of Black's martyr was to face, then he was game.

Renee interviewed Hangman Page, but Kip Sabian & Penelope Ford made fun of him. Page stormed out of the interview to stop himself from attacking Sabian.

Orange Cassidy (All Atlantic Champion) vs Lee Moriarty

Cassidy has Danhausen with him tonight.

Lee starts by grabbing Cassidy’s hands before they go in the pockets and putting on an arm bar. He then takes off Cassidy’s sunglasses and puts them on. Cassidy is able to do a series of moves to reverse it and then takes his glasses back and puts them on. Lee reverses it and then starts rag dolling Cassidy with slams.

Cassidy is finally able to get his hands in his pockets to break the waistlock and walks away. Cassidy is able to avoid a series of stomps from Lee, and then hits him with the soft kicks. He then gets to his feet and hits a drop kick, all with his hands in his pockets. Cassidy charges into Lee in the corner, and after he goes up and over, he slams Lee’s head into the turnbuckles 10 times. Cassidy goes to the top for a cross body, but he misses.

Lee is able to get a kick on Cassidy and then they trade wrist locks. Lee whips Cassidy down and then keeps the hands and tries a submission by pulling Cassidy’s arms and putting his feet on Cassidy’s shoulders while they are on the mat. Cassidy rolls up and over to pin Lee for two. They move to fight on the apron, and Lee is able to block the Beach Break and slams Cassidy onto the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring.  We go to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Cassidy goes for a spinning DDT, but Lee blocks it. Cassidy comes off the ropes again, and this time gets a Michinoku Driver for a two count. Cassidy is selling the arm after Lee worked it over in the picture in picture. Cassidy goes to the top and Lee is able to get an arm drag off the top.  Lee goes to slam Cassidy, but Cassidy hits the Stundog Millionaire.

Cassidy goes for the spinning DDT again, but Lee blocks it again and tries to work Cassidy in position to be slammed. Cassidy is able to twist around to get on Lee’s back. Cassidy locks on a sleeper, but Lee works his way free and slams Cassidy. He tries to put on the Motor City Stretch. When he can't get it on, he beats down Cassidy and tosses him to the outside.

Stokely Cassidy stalks Cassidy, but Danhausen Curses him. When Danhausen tries the low blow punch, Stokely blocks it with the cast he has on (due to Hook attacking him on Dynamite)

As Lee comes out of the ring, Cassidy gets back in. Cassidy is able to get a diving DDT on the floor. Cassidy goes to the top and Lee gets back in the ring. Cassidy gets a diving DDT and sets up for the Orange Punch. Lee captures it with a hammer lock and a short arm clothesline takes Cassidy down.  Lee goes for a power bomb, but Cassidy reverses it to a Beach Break for two.

Cassidy sets up for the Orange Punch again, and this time it connects, but Cassidy is too hurt to cover. Lee locks on the Motor City Stretch. Cassidy is able to roll over and holds Lee for the pin and the win.

Winner and still All Atlantic Champion: Orange Cassidy.

Satnam Singh comes to the stage and Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal come in from the other side of the ring and attack. The Best Friends come to the ring and they get taken out. Jarrett sets up to nail Cassidy with the guitar, but the Acclaimed with Billy Gunn come to the ring and Jarrett’s group bails as we are desperately out of time!
