BEATING ROMAN, JADE’S IMPROVEMENT, KOFI-MANIA 2 AND MORE

What are your thoughts on Jade Cargill? To me, she was greener than green when she first started. But in the last year, she has improved SO much in terms of in-ring ability, promos and presentation. She looks like a million bucks and carries herself like a boss-level star. I honestly don't understand why she still has so many naysayers in spite of the tremendous improvement she's shown.

My take is exactly what you said.  She has the look and she has worked hard to learn the business on the fly.  I like Jade a lot.

You were recently asked who you think should get their own Kofi-Mania push. Don't you think that Kofi himself should get a second chance at a halfway-decent world title run? His win over Daniel Bryan at Mania 2019 was one of the best moments I've ever seen in wrestling, only to be followed by half-assed booking and an insulting five-second loss to Brock not too long after. I'm still kind of pissed that Kofi never got the great title run that he earned ten times over.

Right now?  No, I don't.  I love Kofi and respect all that he has done, but that would be a rehash to me at this point.  HHH is going in different ways right now and I just don't think the place that Kofi is in screams main event.  To suddenly put him there would be Vince-like booking.  If they are going to do that, they can, but it would take a story to get him there.

Mike often reports on wrestling events that happen in the New York/New Jersey area. I've always wondered: what is the wrestling scene in Las Vegas like? Are there any prominent indie promotions in the area? Do you ever check out any local wrestling if that's the case?

We have Future Stars Of Wrestling out here.  They do good work from what I have seen.  We also have the main companies come into town.  Impact will be here soon.  I don't go to shows much anymore.  Between COVID and just getting older in general, I don't have the pep in my step that I had when I was younger.

Short and to the point - separate from current storyline, who would you have beat Roman? After the videos, the Rumble, and Dusty references, I actually feel like Cody is too inevitable. He’s been made. It reminds me of Rollins vs Lesnar. I don’t think it should be a hot shot loss, but I don’t want it to be obvious either.  I would really like to see a scenario where Solo turns face and he gets the win. Truly make him a superstar after a proper build up.

Before the beatdown of KO at the Rumble, I could definitely see your point.  Now, that people have real heel heat against Roman?  My mind is changing.  If they have Roman do something similar to Sami at the Elimination Chamber, and Cody makes the save and Sami is “out of action”, then the hero conquering the heel story could make for the perfect WrestleMania moment.  Cody and Sami celebrating after he vanquishes Reigns.  Sometimes it makes sense to just tell the story that the people want to see told.

What about you? Who on the roster would be your pick?

Right now, I don't have one.  In the old days, when Vince was booking, everything was obvious so it was easy to see who makes the most sense.  Now, with intricate storytelling things change and they aren't obvious.  I love that!
