By Mark Lisenby on 2023-02-05 00:40:00

The Civic Center in Columbus, GA was host to the WWE Road To Wrestlemainia show on Saturday night, February 4, 2023.  A crowd of approximately 7,500 witnessed three title matches, a Black Light Street Fight, and a battle between Seth and Cody.

The opening match saw Ridge Holland and Butch of the Brawling Brutes face off against the Bloodline's Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso.  In a back and forth encounter, Sikoa picked up the win for the Bloodline with a Samoan Spike on Holland at the 10:39 mark.

Match number two saw Candice LaRae defeat Piper Niven with a small package after going 6:56.

The third bout of the evening pitted Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci of Imperium against Braun Strowman and Ricochet.  After going 13:43, Strowman pinned Vinci with his running powerslam.

The first of three title matches was next with Sheamus taking on Gunther for the Intercontinental Title.  Gunther retained with a roll up on Sheamus at the 12:51 mark.  Gunther attacked Sheamus after the match, which led to Sheamus hitting the Brogue Kick, pleasing the crowd.

The second title match followed with a Triple Threat for the Smackdown Women's Championship.  Liv Morgan and Sonya Deville faced Charlotte Flair, with Flair retaining after 10:12 with the Figure 8 on Deville.

After intermission, the crowd was treated to a Black Light Street Fight between L.A. Knight and Bray Wyatt, who came out wearing an Uncle Howdy mask.  Wyatt used Sister Abigail to gain the pinfall after 6:49.

The final title match saw Bayley face off against the Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair.  Bayley was disqualified for outside interference from Io Sky, which led to Becky Lynch coming to Belair's aid.  An impromptu tag match came about as Lynch challenged Bayley and Sky, which they reluctantly accepted, which resulted in Lynch getting the pin over Sky after 8:25.

It's now Main Event time, which saw Seth Rollins face off against Cody Rhodes.  Rhodes took the win at 13:16 over Rollins with the Cross Rhodes.  Rhodes spoke to the crowd after the match, thanking them for their attendance and sending everyone home happy.

This was, by far, the best show that WWE has presented in Columbus in over three years.  The wrestlers/superstars interacted with the ringside crowd, taking several minutes after each match to take pictures and sign autographs.  An outstanding time was seemingly had by all.
