SHAWN MICHAELS COMMENTS ON WWE NXT VENGEANCE DAY, DIJAK'S FINGER, NEW DAY AND MORE: POST SHOW MEDIA CALL RECAP

By Mike Johnson on 2023-02-04 23:43:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's coverage of the post-WWE NXT Vengeance Day Media Call with Shawn Michaels.  Highlights from the call:

*Shawn felt it was an absolutely phenomenal show in Charlotte.  The roster was overjoyed to be out there in Charlotte.  Lots of things going on including surprises and title changes.

*For the first time as a stand alone show in three years, with a number having their first major show outside the PC, they are really happy for it.  It was a huge stride in the development of a lot of stars.

*Shawn was asked what's next for New Day after the title change.  Shawn said they have an open invitation and enjoyed it down here.  They appeared to be open to returning if the schedule allows.  They enjoyed the experience.  It seemed to Shawn that after tonight, they realized how much wisdom and knowledge they can bring to their opponents in the ring to teach the NXT roster. He hopes they will be back in the future.

*He was asked if there was any injury updates.  Michaels said "everyone is good" and miraculously, after an X-Ray, they learned Dijak's finger wasn't broken.  They are setting it back in place.

*Michaels was asked about rumors of NXT talents being allowed to do independents coming out of Ivy Nile being announced for Booker T's promotion.  Michaels said it was a one time deal to help Booker's promotion and nothing else to the best of Shawn's knowledge.

*On the potential of NXT touring TV weekly, Michaels said they were hoping for that one day, especially if they could have the results they had tonight in terms of live crowd and reaction in Charlotte.  He said they exceeded expectations.  He loved it but there's a lot of "bean counters" who have to analyze things.  He thinks it will be a bit before they are touring live events outside of Florida.

*They ran an angle where Grayon Waller confronted Michaels about "not being his guy" which Michaels said was in relation to an incident that happened at the gorilla position.  Michaels said that he loves Waller but he's not different in real life vs. on camera.

*Michaels was asked about the obvious Grayson Waller vs. Bron Breakker match at Stand and Deliver has been in the works.  Michaels said there's a difference between thinking about it and putting it on paper, but you see two guys in the PC and you think they are pretty special.  He said they've been the lead stallions so you try to keep them separately from each other and then a year later, you realize that's a big match.  He said he called it before they ever put them on TV and he has no doubt it's going to be a big one.

*Michaels was asked about the chemistry of the New Women's Tag Champions.  Michaels said they've each had very little experience beyond the independents.  He said William Regal tonight said they feel like they are NXT homegrown talents.  He said you see them have chemistry against each other, so you put them in a team together to see how it works and then they decide to explore it and see how it goes.

*Michaels felt Kayden and Katana were one of the most consistently performing tag teams in the entire company and he basically said they'll be chasing the new Tag champs.

Michaels thanked everyone for taking part and said he hopes there will be more NXT PPVs on the road.
