Wrestling Open Week 57

2/2/23 Worcester, MA

I know they are referring to this as SEASON TWO, EPISODE 5 but like….57 continuous weeks should be celebrated and called out and be top of mind? It’s a Wrestling Open has had a hell of a showing in the last week, from last week’s MONSTER of a main event between Lio Rush and Dustin Waller to the high presence of Open at Beyond Wrestling’s “Miight Snow”. Tonight’s main is a rematch between Ichiban and Marcus Mathers, hopefully with less accidental shenanigans this time but we also need to hear from Alec Price, now that he is a member of the Stetson Ranch. Welp.

But first, a spotlight match! It’s Pedro Dones and he’s coming for the shoulder of his opponent…who is currently wearing a shoulder brace.

Spotlight Match: Pedro Dones vs Yuval Goldshmit

Yuval is wrestling out of Germany? Welcome to Worcester! Pedro seems to be having a difficult time keeping the newcomer down. Yuval is catching Dones left and right until Dones jacks the arm on the top rope. That shoulder has the target on it and Dones rips off the brace and wraps up the limb. Yuval firing kicks but Dones runs him over. Big shoulderbreaker and Dones has made his shot. Count the new guy down cause he’s toast.

Winner: Pedro Dones

And we’re live on IWTV! Paul Crockett and Denver Colorado are at commentary! Rich Palladino is our announcer! Did you know there’s a Wrestling Open soundtrack CD? It’s really good! It’s Thursday! It’s 8pm! It’s Wrestling Open, live on IWTV from the World Famous White Eagle! We’re starting with a title match!

Match 1: Mutually Assured Destruction (Rip Byson & Perry Von Vicious) vs Miracle Generation(c) (Kylon King & Dustin Waller) (for the Saturn & Kronus Eliminator Cup Tag Team Championships)

MAD has two wins in a row in recent weeks and that gives them at shot at MG’s big trophy and medals! These big men are giving the champs pause. Perry is too tall for the rest of strength…Kylon can’t bowl him over. Of course not. He’s trying though and Perry lets this happen. Kylon tries a crossbody and just bounces off Perry. It’s wild that Byson is the smaller man in his team. Kylon just getting manhandled. king ducks and Rip misses a big boot and crotches himself on the top rope. Big men problems. Dustin’s tagged in! High flying wildin’ from MG. They set up Perry for the powerplex but Rip runs in and stacks them both for a huge toss. King kicks out! Perry tries a piledriver from the top but Mg goes for the plex again. Dustin gets blasted out of the sky by Ripper! Double chokeslam? Dustin flips free and Kylon dropkicks them both. Everyone’s down and we have cleared started HOT. Perry go round to Kylon! Dustin hits the handspring cutter! Huge lariat from Rip! He tries to put down Kylon but gets reversed to his high angle German for the pin! Good opener!

Winners: Miracle Generation

Kylon King has some words. He hasn’t forgetting about Lio Rush putting him on the floor this past Sunday. Kylon issues a challenge to Lio Rush for NEXT WEEK!

Ray Jaz is here. He’s not supposed to be here! He has words. We can’t hear ‘em! He takes a seat at ringside even though he is definitely NOT welcome. I suppose Twitter will tell me what he said since the mic goes alive to IWTV.

Oh, THIS is what he’s on about:

It’s Church Time! Brother Greatness is here to show HIS strength tonight?

Match 2: Brother Greatness (w/ Anastasia Morningstar) vs Eric Chacha

BG wants to wrestle and doesn’t have time for Eric’s kicking. This is a solid back and forth, Greatness with a suplex for two. Chacha firing back with more kicks. Ray Jaz looks miserable. Greatness with a headlock takeover and blasts with a running PK for the win. He brings Anastasia in to hit a Fade to Black for good measure.

Winner: Brother Greatness

Ray is sit in the front row and looking so grumpy. He has a look for Dan Barry as he makes his way out…

Match 3: Curt Robinson vs Dan Barry

I’m not sure when we turned on Curt but he’s against Dan Barry tonight so f*** him. Dan is running this kid over in the early minutes. Curt tries a slick move over the rope but Dan just triangle dropkicks him to the floor. Slingshot back in, Dan Barry is so damn good. Curt catches him in an electric chair, drop back with the bridge for two. Curt tries to put Dan to sleep. Barry with the pin reversal. Curt’s straps are down! Dan lariats him. And again! And again! Cannonball! Curt trying to get anything going but he gets reversed into a Tombstone! Curt’s night is OVAH!

Winner: Dan Barry

Ray Jaz storms the ring again. He yells into the microphone and threatens a ref! Denver Colorado starts yelling him at him to stop. Whatever Ray Jaz wanted, DC gave it to him and Jaz threatens to hold the show hostage every week if he changes his mind. I’m sure I’ll find out what he said. What did he say? …OH

Looks like Ray Jaz, one way or another, is going to be on the next Beyond show. I wonder who DC will pick as his opponent. Hmmmmm….

Match 4: Big Bacon Brad Hollister vs Austin Luke

Brad’s not here to do cartwheels. He charges in the corner and pummels Luke to the mat. He loses focus which lets Luke come back. Bacon has to scramble for the rope for the escape from

Luke’s grip. Bacon with the running hip attack. Luke escapes the first jackhammer attempt. Bacon runs him over. Hard whip to the corner and the damn ring moves! Bacon is smothering him. The Sizzler throwing chops and screaming in Austin’s face. Huge Yakuza kick and running dropkick as Luke fires back! Brain buster! Kick out! Bacon dodges a stomp but almost gets tapped out. Brad powers out. Hard punches from mount. Big brain buster but Luke kicks out. Luke dodges the jackhammer again! Crossface! Bacon tries to power out…arm triangle! Bacon picks him up and bombs the triangle for the win!

Winner: Brad Hollister

Bacon is on commentary for the next one. And it’s church time again?!?

Match 5: The Even Stevens (Brothers Azure & Somerset w/ Brother Greatness) vs Fancy Ryan Clancy & TJ Crawford

Bacon is not thrilled to see Fancy Clancy. The Steves think their powdered wigs and corncob pipes and candles make them more fancy than Clancy. It’s a pose down! Even ref bill gets a fancy pose in! TJ is a rage and Clancy tries to calm him down! TJ still has these anger issues clearly. The Steves are cheating…like they do. Clancy fighting off slowly but surely but the Steves just keep the pressure on. There’s not much TJ can do and Azure boots him off the apron, preventing a tag. Somerset really trying for the pin. Clancy with the escape! Tag to TJ and he’s going wild! Somerset tossed to the floor. Side Russian to Azure and TJ quickly gets the pin in a frenzy! Clancy may be trying to get TJ to calm down but that rage was about effective in these last 60 seconds or so.

Winners: TJ and Clancy

Match 6: Aaron Rourke vs Love Doug

We’re less than two weeks from Valentine’s Day. That went SO well for him last year. Apparently Doug wants a smooch for Valentine’s…maybe he should check with his fiancé??? Doug looks offended that we reminded him of his indiscretion. Doug sticks him in the prom pose, Aaron with a hard slap. Doug unloading hard on Rourke. Sliced Bread? Rourke shotguns him! Hard whip! Kick out! Rourke is all over Doug. He  tries to choke Doug on the top buckles. Doug with an iconoclasym. Big boot! Smooches forearm! Slingshot back elbow! Rourke drags Doug down with a crossface…will Love ap? Doug reverses to a rollup and gets the three!

Winner: Love Doug

Match 7: The Haven (Shawn Knyte & Jay Onyx) vs Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson & Alec Price)

Ugh, it hurts to type that. Price doesn’t look excited either…but he’s got bills to pay. Price look miserable and the Haven looks confused to be on the other side of this ring. Stetson is just eating s*** with his smile. The big cowboy thinks he can take the Haven, they unload and send him to the floor. Aw, stetson needs a break. price doesn’t wanna be back in. The crowd doesn’t want Price in here either. Stetson with a backbreaker to Onyx. Saddle senton! Price doesn’t wanna tag in. Huge suplex as Stetson can’t run for the ranch hands. Tag to Knyte, Stetson is staggered with a series of kicks! Slingshot back elbow for two! Stetson runs away to recover. Price is back in. Haven going for the win but Price reverses. Stetson with the north Jersey lariat and drops Onyx. He demands Price go for the pin…Price struggles with the choice but does it and gets the win. The crowd is definitely split over how they feel about this. Boo Stetson. Yay Price but also why is Price not fighting this harder…so maybe Boo Price too? This is wrestling soap opera stuff, folks so we’ll see what happens next week. Will Price fight back?

Winners: Stetson Ranch

Match 8: Bronson vs Bobby Orlando

I do need to say it again. Bronson may be a dirty heel but his workout program is clearly doing him a lot of good. Bobby starts hot but Bronson powerbombs him on the apron. Stretches mom on the post. Bronson just torturing Bobby. Heavy forearms to the lower back. Powerbomb to the knee. This is a one sided drubbing. Lion tamer! Bronson gets posted! Bobby slam! Mom dives! The ref distracted, Bronson blasts Bobby in the face with a hard fist. High angle saito! Bobby stays down. Crowd is shocked that Mom got handled like this.

Winner: Bronson

Main Event: Ichiban vs Marcus Mathers

Good opening graps, Marcus and Ichiban trading holds but it’s very even. Marcus is frustrated cause the prodigy didn’t expect Ichiban to be this ready for him. Trading one/counts back and forth. Top rope forearm! Marcus eats all the single punches on the corner. Marcus landing hard but only getting one counts or two counts that were actually one counts. Back suplex. Kick out. Marcus getting visibly annoyed. He’s going for a crab, Ichiban fights off but pays for that with another hard shot and kick out. Ichiban dodges the stomp! Rollup! Hard lariat! Handspring back elbow! Marcus coming back…Ichi with a high cross body for two! He tries the flatliner! Marcus catches it and flips him to a crab! It’s deep! Ichiban fights to the rope! Marcus misses a big boot! Crowd giving this awesome match the this is awesome! Hard chops from Mathers! Ichiban returns in kind and Marcus is furious. 15 minutes have elapsed! He spikes Ichiban with a falcon arrow! Sick landing but Ichi kicks out! Mathers is yelling at his knee as he wants to go up top….Ichiban with the head kick! Superplex!!! They both grab the leg…did we just have a double pin?!? The ref calls it a double pin! Sick match but they are understandably frustrated at this result. They are shoving and this turns into a full brawl! Ring the bell again! Miracle Generation out here to split them up! They can barely contain their friends! They both calm down but this is clearly NOT OVER. Ichiban flies back into the ring and attacks Mathers again! What is happening to Ichiban?!? Kylon King physically picks up Ichiban and carries him back to the curtain. The Prodigy and Number One end the night with unfinished business. This was ridiculously good and another in a series of absolute killer main events this year for Wrestling Open.

Winner: No Contest (Double Pin)
