1/25/23 Results from New Japan’s Road to The New Beginning results from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
1 - Oskar Leube vs. Aaron Henare
Henare gets the pin with a brutal Roundhouse Kick.
2 - Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. KENTA and Gedo
Yano hits a low blow on Gedo.
Yano pins Gedo
After the match, KENTA attacks Tanahashi with the bell hammer. They will meet in a few weeks in singles match.
3 - Master Wato and Togi Makabe vs. Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo
ELP hits Sudden Death on Makabe and gets the pin.
El Phantasmo is re-establishing his Sudden Death as an effective finisher.
4 - Yuto Nakashima, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Kosei Fujita, Shane Haste, Mikey Nichols and Zack Sabre Jr.
Fujita traps Nakashima in a Hammerlock submission while ZSJ does the same to Ishii.
Nakashima taps out to Fujita.
Big win for Fujita. They have been selling on commentary that TMDK have been teaching Fujita new moves every week. Fujita is getting a big push right now.
CHAOS attacked TMDK after the match. Wild brawl.
5 - TJP and Great O-Khan vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and TAKA Michinoku
TJP was selling his knee after a Kanemaru Figure Four.
O-Khan traps TAKA in a Sheep Killer. TAKA taps out.
6 - Francesco Akira and Will Ospreay vs. Taichi and DOUKI
Good match. Very physical match.
Ospreay destroys DOUKI with a Hidden Blade and gets the pinfall win.
All 4 men brawl after the match. Ospreay and Taichi are building good anticipation for their special singles match.
7 - Shota Umino and Tomoaki Honma v SANADA and Tetsuya Naito
Naito pins Honma with a Jacknife cradle.
Naito gets some heat back by hitting Destino on Umino after the match. Umino is left laying in the ring while LIJ salutes over him.
8 - YOH, Ryusuke Taguchi and Kazuchika Okada vs. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi
YOH pins BUSHI after a Direct Drive.
YOH and Okada have momentum over Hiromu and Takagi in their future title matches.
YOH addresses the crowd as they close the show.
