It is Friday and AEW Rampage was recorded in the Save Mart in Fresno CA right after Dynamite. Our commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Chris Jericho
Ethan Page vs Jungle Boy
Page goes for the Ego’s Edge right off the top and JB escapes and is able to avoid Page’s attacks until he gets a head scissors takedown. Page rolls out of the ring, and pulls Isiah in front of him when JB tries to leap into him. Page tosses JB into the ring and starts arguing with Matt Hardy, allowing JB to get the leap this time.
JB goes to the top and Page cuts him off and tries to pull him off the top, but JB reverses it and gets a variation of a head scissor takedown. Stokely Hathaway grabs JB’s foot when he starts to run the ropes, and Hathaway blames Hardy. This allows Page to toss him out of the ring and get in a stroke on the floor. Page celebrates with Hardy, who is uninterested. JB is slammed face first on the apron. And then into the ring.
Page gets a back breaker and then works a series of shoulder blocks. JB is then clotheslined out of the ring. JB gets in chops on the floor but Page slams him head first into the ring post. JB is tossed back into the ring and Page locks on a waist lock on JB. JB hits a series of elbow strikes to break free, but Page gorilla presses him, and then drops him to the mat as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, JB is tossed into the corner, and he fights out with a back elbow and chops. JB runs the ropes and tries for a cross body, but Page grabs him. JB is able to come off the ropes with a flying clothesline. JB tries to pick up Page, but can’t, and Page gives him a back body drop. JB goes to the top and Page is able to get there and hit the cross arm iconoclasm slam. He then hits a power slam on JB, covering for 2. JB takes a long time to get up and Page mocks Hardy with how he waits for him to get up. Page tries for a Twist of Fate, but JB escapes. JB comes off the ropes and Page tries another twist of fate, but JB runs him into the corner.
JB climbs the second rope and gets in ten blows, and then nails Hathaway, who had gotten on the apron. Page is able to get the twist of fate this time, and covers for two as JB gets a foot on the ropes. JB rolls to the outside and Page orders Hardy to attack him, but Hardy stalls until we hear Hook’s music.
Hook comes out allowing JB to grab Page. Page gets a roll up and holds onto Matt’s hair to get better leverage, but JB is able to reverse the rollup and holds on for the pin and the win.
Winner: Jungle Boy
After the match, Hathaway has a mic and yells at Hardy. Page then joins in and asks why he cost him the match. Page then challenges Jungle Boy and Hook to a tag team match on Dynamite. Hathaway says that Hardy is on Time Out.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Ortiz, who is in street clothes. Tony asks what is going on between him and Eddie Kingston. Ortiz says that he thought Eddie was his friend and he was about to hit a woman with a chair, which they don’t do that. He calls out Eddie who comes to the ring with a chair. Eddie doesn’t have a mic and makes it look like they should have talked in the back.
Ortiz keeps on him about almost hitting a woman. He then asks what Homicide would say, and he would say Eddie was a coward, and Eddie takes the chair to Ortiz and then leaves.
Willie Mack vs Brian Cage
Page locks on an arm bar and Mack escapes with a cartwheel. They run the ropes and Mack gets an arm drag followed by a Samoans drop. He misses a backflip and Cage is able to come off the ropes with a high knee. Cage then attacks him in the corner and gets a back suplex. He then beats down Mack in the corner.
Cage then poses for the crowd before fighting in the apron, where Mack gets in a few strikes, before Cage gets a side slam on the apron. They go to picture in picture.
When they return to full screen, Cage whips Mack into the corner and Mack tries to fight his way free. Mack gets a leaping kick to Cage’s face. Mack gets a couple of clotheslines and follows with a power bomb and a two count. Both men struggle to get up. Cage is able to get a spinning back kick and a F5 for the two count. Cage pulls Mack up and Cage finally gets a jumping knee strike. He follows it with a power bomb, another leaping knee and then the drill claw for the pin and the win.
Winner: Brian Cage
Jade Cargill and Leila Grey vs Already In The Ring Jada and Jordyn Vanity
Grey starts with a wrist lock takedown and a front face lock. They don’t say which of the Vanity Twins are in the ring, so sadly, I have to go with One and Two. They run the ropes after One fights her way free. Leila gets a jumping shoulder tackle and Two tags in, Leila tosses Two into the corner and hits a leaping drop kick before tagging in Jade.
Jade dominates with fighting in the corners. Leila is tagged in, and hits a swinging neckbreaker after a series of knees. One is tagged back in and whips her into her corner. Leila misses a knee and follows up with a clothesline and Jade yells “Finish it.” Leila hits a sit out facebuster and covers, but Jade yells no.
Leila tags in Jade and Jade hits Jaded for the pin and the win.
Winners: Jade Cargill and Leila Gre
Daniel Garcia vs. Action Andretti
Sammy joins commentary.
Garcia attacks before the bell and puts the boots to Andretti in the corner. Andretti gets a back elbow spring off the ropes and then gets chops in the corners. They run the ropes and Andretti gets a head scissors takedown and then hits a tornado elbow off the ropes for a two count.
Andretti gets a series of strikes and then hits an isigiri that knocks Garcia to the floor and follows with a tope. Garcia rolls in the ring and then rolls out. Andretti misses a baseball slide. Garcia gets a clothesline and then tosses Andretti into the steel steps and we go picture in picture. When they return to full screen, Garcia has been in control through the entire break.
Garcia holds Andretti’s arm and kicks his face. Andretti powers up between kicks. Andretti gets a series of clotheslines and then a backbreaker neck breaker combination. He goes to the top and Garcia trolls out of the ring. Andretti leaps onto the apron, then uses the top rope for a moonsault onto Garcia on the floor.
Andretti rolls Garcia into the ring and hits a split legged moonsault for a two count. Garcia shoves Andretti into the ropes, and Andretti tries for a springboard move with Garcia grabbing him and locking him into a rear naked choke. Andretti flips while still in the hold to pin Garcia’s shoulders for a two count. They trade kicks and Andretti gets a neck breaker for a two count.
Both men are down and take their time to recover. Andretti is up first and works over Garcia in the corner. Garcia whips Andretti into the corner, and he goes up and over. He springs off the ropes into a clothesline from Garcia. Garcia gets a sit out powerbomb for a two count. Garcia is looking to Jericho and Sammy for advice. Andretti gets a small package when Garcia goes for a dragon tamer for two.
Garcia gets a cross chop and then rolls up Andretti with a handful of tights for a two. Garcia charges into the corner but Andretti is able to hit an elbow and hits a tornado knee from the top, followed by a running shooting start press for the pin and the win.
Winner: Action Andretti.
