Going forward, the MLW Underground series airing on REELZ will become the promotion's flagship series.
MLW Fusion will remain on Pro Wrestling TV and BeIn Sport and will still have new content, but Underground will become the top series for the promotion.
As you can imagine, this was considered a big win for the promotion internally as REELZ will be the biggest platform to date they will air on as REELZ is available in over 68 million homes. The promotion purposely did not tease anything, feeling they had been burnt in the past by trying to hype announcements to the audience. Their belief last year was that their Tubi deal would be transformative for the company and then that went to hell literally hours before it was to be announced publicly (which led to the current MLW vs. WWE lawsuit making its way through the courts in California), so there was great sense of hope and accomplishment when the REELZ deal was done.
MLW Underground will air Tuesdays at 10 PM, which means fans can slide over to it after watching NXT. The promotion will also be airing vintage MLW footage at 11 PM Eastern as well weekly.
The first episode will be headlined by MLW Champion Alexander Hammerstone vs. EJ Nduka in a Last Man Standing match, so this explains the storyline where Nduka's entourage were stalling the match. The promotion will then air the Battle Riot IV special from last year in NYC, which was a very fun match.
Last night's MLW Fusion confirmed the promotion will be running in Tijuana, Mexico on 2/10. The storyline is that Cesar Duran has started his own promotion after resigning as MLW matchmaker (in storyline) and that he and MLW have agreed to work together.
It also confirmed the promotion has secured a date on Saturday 4/8 in Philadelphia, PA. That is just a few days after the War Chamber event in NYC on Thursday 4/6, so the promotion will have two live events that week. With the REELZ deal in place and now two series to create content for, they are ramping up events.
Next up for the promotion is their 2/4 Superfight event in Philadelphia at the 2300 Arena, featuring:
*MLW Champion Alexander Hammerstone vs. Jacob Fatu.
*Micro Man vs. Real1 vs. Mance Warner vs. mystery competitor.
*Lio Rush vs. Davey Richards
*DRAGONGATE Open the Twin Gate Champions Big Boss Shimizu & Kzy will defend their titles.
*MLW Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie vs. Delmi Exo
*Hardcore Match: Rickey Shane Page vs. the debuting 1 Called Manders
*B3cca debuts.
