Some notes on the passing of Jay Briscoe:
-As we noted earlier tonight, the preliminary word was that Briscoe passed away in a car accident. Delaware ABC affiliate channel 47 reported there was a fatal collision at 5:30 PM Eastern in the area of Laurel Road and Little Hill Road in Laurel, Delaware. The ABC report noted there were two fatalities.
The belief among those we have spoken with is that the driver of the other vehicle also passed away.
The Laurel School District, where Briscoe's daughters attend school, announced:
"Due to an unthinkable tragedy in our community this evening, The Laurel School District will be closed for tomorrow, Wednesday January 18, 2023. Schools will be reopen on Thursday. Please keep the Pugh Family in your thoughts and prayers."
