The United Wrestling Network is set to return to Arizona on January 14th, 2023 with its signature event, the Red Carpet Rumble. The event will take place at Bell Bank Park in Mesa, Arizona. The stars of the United Wrestling Network often thrilled Arizona pro wrestling fans on a regular basis in the past with the popular weekly television series, Championship Wrestling From Arizona. In 2022, the promotion decided to consolidate its various regional versions of the program into one nationally televised series, Championship Wrestling. Many of the familiar talents from Arizona continue to battle on the national show, and will be heavily involved on 1/14. UWN President David Marquez had this to say about the return to Arizona, "We have not forgotten about our loyal and very energetic Arizona fanbase. We are thrilled to return to Mesa with one of our most beloved signature events." Top talent from multiple promotions will converge on Mesa for this blockbuster event.
UWN World Champion Danny Limelight vs. Eddie Kingston
Newly Crowned UWN World Champion Danny Limelight recently ended the historic title reign of Jordan Clearwater. Limelight, who proceeded his title victory by winning the Golden Opportunity Tournament, will defend the World Title for the first time when he takes on AEW standout and fellow proud Puerto Rican and New Yorker Eddie Kingston. There will be much more than bragging rights and street cred on the line in this high profile battle with the UWN World Title on the line.
United Heritage Champion Kevin Martenson vs. Davey Richards
The event will feature additional championship matches, including United Heritage Champion Kevin Martenson defending the title against current MLW National Openweight Champion Davey Richards. Both Martenson and Richards are incredibly well-rounded as both can strike, grapple, and high-fly with the very best. Martenson recently dethroned Outlandish Zicky Dice to win the Heritage Title. The American Wolf Davey Richards looks for another shot at UWN gold, after previously challenging for the World Title.
UWN World Tag Team Champions Reno Scum vs. Midnight Heat
The first ever three time holders of the United World Tag Team Titles, Reno Scum will defend the titles against former champions Midnight Heat. Midnight Heat's manager Tweak subbed for an injured Ricky Gibson when Scum recently won the Titles.
Alexander Hammerstone vs. Ortiz
Arizona's own Alexander Hammerstone will also return to UWN action in a high profile match. The current MLW World Heavyweight Champion will battle AEW's Ortiz in a match that further illustrates that the forbidden door is alive and well in the United Wrestling Network.
Shawn Dean vs. Willie Mack vs. Bad Dude Tito vs. Joey Janella World Title #1 Contender Match
AEW's Captain Shawn Dean, UWN mainstay and New Japan Pro Wrestling standout Bad Dude Tito, Joey Janella, and former Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion, and former holder of multiple UWN titles Willie Mack Clash in a high-stakes Fatal Fourway match to determine the #1 Contender for the UWN World Title.
Peter Avalon vs. R3 Cassus
Pretty Peter Avalon and the monstrous R3 Cassus will face off in a long awaited grudge match that is rooted in Arizona. R3 once relinquished the Arizona State Championship for a match with Avalon. With the consolidation of the shows, the match never took place. Cassus recently took matters into his own hands, invading Championship Wrestling, and brutally attacking Avalon while issuing a challenge for January 14th. Avalon has accepted, and is out for revenge in a personal and physical battle that will likely spill out of the ring and all over Bell Bank Park!
Marina Shafir vs. Zeda Zhang
AEW standout, and former professional mma fighter Marina Shafir will return to UWN Women's Division action. The Problem will face former undefeated mma fighter Zeda Zhang who has big match experience in WWE-NXT, MLW, and AEW.
Clark Connors vs. Jakob Austin Young
Connors, an NJPW standout returns to UWN where he has several big wins, including wins over current UWN World Champion Danny Limelight. Connors will face tough and well rounded UWN veteran Jakob Austin Young.
Red Carpet Rumble
The 30-Participant Red Carpet Rumble will headline the January 14th event. A UWN tradition, and true spectacle will begin with two competitors, with additional competitors joining the fray in timed intervals. Participants are eliminated when they are thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. When only two participants remain, it becomes a one-on-one match determined by pinfall or submission. The winner receives a UWN World Title match at any time / place they choose. Some of the field will include AEW and ROH's Colt Cabana who has a history of legendary World Title matches in UWN with the likes of Adam Pearce. Former World Champion Golden Boy Jordan Clearwater, UWN and Arizona Legend Navajo Warrior, original Arizona State Champion Gino Rivera, Jack Banning, Bateman, Papo Esco, UWN World TV Champion Jordan Cruz and many more will try to be the last participant standing.
