Young Rock - S3 E7 “World Pacific Wresting”
The Rock is jet lagged and can’t sleep. He sends a text to Randall asking if he wanted to go on a walk but Randall is sawing logs. Rock gets up and starts waking around the residence and see Prime Minister Honig working in one of the rooms. They have some coffee together and Dwayne tries to spark trade talks with her. She changes the subject and we get out flashback.
Hawaii, 1985....
Rocky is trying to book out the card for the new promotion WPW but Ata is more concerned with getting Dewey’s lunch made. Ata has the venue picked out and Rocky designed a logo. They both want to stick it Lia for choosing Lars Anderson as a business partner over them. Dewey gets his lunch but wants a Snickers (in a Hulk Hogan lunch bag). Dewey is working for Lia and Rocky tries to interrogate him but Dewey won’t talk.
Rocky starts calling up wrestlers trying to book the show he only ends up with Jake Roberts and two others (one seems to be a play off Broken Matt Hardy).
Dewey is hanging out with Bruno (who is making sure the baby oil bottles are full like wait staff would with ketchup bottles). Bruno is struggling with money and he asks Dewey how much he’s making. Lia calls in Dewey who tries to get info out of him. She decides it’s not good for business for him to work with her while Ata & Rocky run WPW and she fire him.
Dewey comes home and tells his parents what happen. Dewey is accepting of the decision. Ata tells Dewey he’ll have to work with them for no pain. Dewey says no thanks and is informed he’ll attend the after school program instead. Dewey is not pleased.
Lars & Lia are talking about the next show and they here a radio interview with Ata plugging WPW.
Dewey arrives at the after school program and is told to take a seat and not to choke on anything. He looks around and realizes this isn’t his crowd.
Rocky & Ata leave the radio station and get in the car and hear Lia on a different station plugging her show saying she’s bringing in Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and Sting “not the musician”. They forget to pick up Dewey at school and he meets new group of kids. They decide to go to 7/11. The new kids tell Dewey to ask the clerk for Moon Pies and she says they don’t sell them. He turns around and the kids are already outside. They show him they stole candy and Jolt Cola. Ata & Rocky pull up and apologize with Burger King.
It’s show night and they’d drawn a good. After the show Ata & Rocky are going to their car and Bruno is out waiting for them. He says there is trouble at PPW. Lars and Jim Crockett get into an argument when Lars tells him he wants Ric Flair to put over a PPW guy and Crockett won’t have it because he can’t have people in Charlotte seeing it happen. Lars gets mad and pours a beer on Crockett’s head. He pulls all the JCP wrestlers and now they’re in Hawaii with nothing to do. Bruno tells them he wants to work with them.
Dewey is hanging at the lunch table with his new “friends”. He learns they all have busy parents (ER doctors, City Comptroller) so they get ignored.
Ata & Rocky have dinner with Crockett & Flair and they agree to work the show. Lia does another radio interview and doesn’t put over her disappointment.
Ric Flair is tagging against Dusty Rhodes & Rocky. They sell out arena. Lia shows up to congratulate Ata but then gleefully tells her how WPW is screwed because they can’t use Crockett’s wrestlers again and she’s rented an expensive arena and has no wrestlers to fill it.
At home Rocky & Ata are telling Dewey they’re going to have to move to a small one room place due to how much they owe on the arenas and they tell him he’s going to go live with Lia. On the way to her house he starts shoplifting Snickers at 7/11
The PM enjoys Dwayne’s story but she tells him she knows he’s there to get a trade deal that she turned down to President Taft...
