IWTV’s Wrestival is almost upon us and he’s a small sample of 15 matches across the NINE shows this weekend that I’m looking forward to:
Brother Greatness vs Eel O'Neal: Thursday, 12/29, 3pm EST - Pizza Party Pro “Pop! Pop!”
Brother Greatness has spent the year establishing himself as a great character AND wrestler in Worcester. Eel O’Neal often shows up as part of his Kings of the District team with Jordan Blade so it’s exciting to see him get a chance to show his skills in a rare singles outing.
Dan Barry vs Marcus Mathers: Thursday, 12/29, 7pm EST - Wrestling Open “The Last Stand”
Dan Barry has been having excellent match after match. The same can be said for Mathers. Their first clash in New Jersey was the highlight of the show so we expect the rematch in front of the home Wrestling Open crowd to blow doors off.
Steel Cage Warfare: Miracle Ones (Dustin Waller, Kylon King and Ichiban) and Bobby Orlando vs Pedro Dones, Brad Hollister and The Mane Event: Thursday, 12/29, 7pm EST - Wrestling Open “The Last Stand”
The first cage match at the world famous White Eagle pits 8 of Wrestling Open’s hottest stars of in a War Games-style clash for the main event (before we get a LOT of cage matches from Pitfighter X). This has been heating up for weeks so I expect this to just be an exciting brawl bell-to-bell.
Casanova Valentine vs Dr. Redacted: Thursday, 12/29, 11pm EST - ICW Holds Barred “Pitfighter X 14”
This whole show is going to be a bloody affair but I expect to get some really weird chuckles out of this fight.
Matt Tremont vs CPA: Friday, 12/30, 3pm EST - Blitzkrieg Pro “Always The Hard Way”
Speaking of WEIRD CHUCKLES…Matt Tremont is going to fight Worcester’s resident accountant and tax expert. This should sell itself.
TJ Crawford vs Ichiban vs Dante Drago: Friday, 12/30, 3pm EST - Blitzkrieg Pro “Always The Hard Way”
This has “low key banger” written all over it. Crawford’s work has been getting over big in Worcester. Drago is exciting when we get to see him and Ichiban is exceedingly over as a fan favorite.
Independent Invitational Gauntlet for the IWTV Independent Wrestling World Championship: Alex Shelley, WARHORSE, AC Mack, Tracy Williams, Hoodfoot, Adam Priest, Matt Tremont and Trish Adora: Friday, 12/30, 7pm EST - IWTV “Class Of '22”
It was extremely unfortunate what happened with former IWTV champ Krule (and I hope they find the big man someday, ready to break some faces) but the result is this absolute monster of a gauntlet match of former champions and hopeful contenders!
American Wolves vs Motor City Machine Guns: Friday, 12/30, 11pm EST - Prestige “The Things We Carry”
Y’all, do I NEED to sell you on this one?
Anthony Henry vs Robert Martyr: Friday, 12/30, 11pm EST - Prestige “The Things We Carry”
Two generations of low-key workrate kings. This should be a hell of a clash if it gets time to breathe.
GRIND Grand Championship: Jay Freddie (c) vs O'Shay Edwards: Saturday, 12/31, 12pm EST - Pro Wrestling GRIND Pro “All We Are”
Jay Freddie hasn’t worked a match in Worcester in a long time. Last I remember seeing him, he managed the Saito brothers in a Wrestling Open tag match. I LOVE the Big Bad Kaiju so getting to see a clash between two intense guys I love to see work that I don’t get to see often is exciting!
Violence Is Forever vs Mane Event: Saturday, 12/31, 12pm EST - Pro Wrestling GRIND Pro “All We Are”
I’m also admittedly a huge fan of the three-time IWTV (4 times if they win this year) Tag Team of the Year and the odds-on favorite to with the T4 Summit. Mane Event has been absolutely killing it for the last year and their recent newfound edge might make them a heck of a challenge for Ku and Garrini.
Anthony Henry vs Kevin Blackwood: Saturday, 12/31, 4pm EST - Limitless “High Strung”
Kevin Blackwood has been having a good escalation of competition outside of Worcester. It’s great to see him back under our roof and doubly so against the absolute wrestling machine that is Anthony Henry.
Andy Brown vs JD Drake: Saturday, 12/31, 4pm EST - Limitless “High Strung”
Can you tell I am ALSO a fan of the Workhorsemen? JD Drake is going to have a few hard slapping meat matches on Sunday but something tells me this might be the meat slappiest of the three.
Willow Nightingale vs LuFisto: Saturday, 12/31, 8pm EST - Beyond Wrestling “Heavy Lies The Crown”
A generational clash for sure, the legend, The Wounded Owl LuFisto takes on a potential future legend who has been absolutely making her mark this year in AEW.
Fans Bring The Weapons: B3CCA vs Alec Price: l Saturday, 12/31, 8pm EST - Beyond Wrestling “Heavy Lies The Crown”
Is this gonna be a workrate match? Hell no. Is it going to be a mess? Absolutely. Has the story they’ve been telling for the last year worthy of the final main event slot of the weekend? 100%. It’s always fun to see what type of creative props show up to a match like this but being the first match of the new year AND the last match of the Wrestival is going to make this feel that much more epic and insane. My current thought is to assemble a flail of bedazzled shoes. Will I have the time and energy for this? One can hope. Lol.
See you this Thursday in Worcester, on IWTV or on PWInsider! Until then!
