Impact Wrestling on AXS TV opened with highlights of the last few weeks.
Eddie Edwards vs. Delirious
They went back and forth with some solid action early. Edwards nailed several chops but was cut off and hit with a suplex. Edwards escaped a submission by scrambling to the floor. Edwards nailed a big boot and superkick. Edwards went for the Tiger Driver but Delirious escaped and turned it into an armbar submission. Delirious went for a submission but was trapped and pinned.
Your winner, Eddie Edwards!
Good, solid stuff.
Edwards offered the Code of Honor handshake after but immediately turned on the former ROH booker and hit him with the Die Hard Driver. Yuya Uemura tried to make the save but was taken out. Edwards went to unmask Delirious so we almost found out if he really does have the face of a lizard after all these years but Jonathan Gresham hit the ring and made the save.
Man, between Delirious, PCO and now Gresham, Edwards is going to be everyone who ever worked for ROH in the foreseeable future.
Scott D'Amore stopped Impact Champion Josh Alexander from going out to the ring to again call out Bully Ray. Tommy Dreamer showed up and apologized to Josh. Josh didn't want to hear it, feeling Dreamer was in on it but Scott implored him to listen.
Bully Ray vs. John Skyler
This was a short match designed to spotlight Ray, who got the pin with a piledriver. It's nice to see Skyler, one of the most rounded and underrated talents around, back.
Tommy Dreamer came out and said he was the only person who really trusted Bully but Bully made him look like a fool and that their friendship was over. Ray ripped Dreamer apart, saying he used Dreamer to get what he wanted. He said he was indeed the one who took out Ace Austin and that Dreamer was a coward. Dreamer got really emotional saying he didn't want to fight but he will. Ray walked out and Dreamer was ready to go. Really good stuff here playing off their pasts.
The Major Players were complaining about how they were banned from ringside for the main event, but Decay told them they have something else to worry about - them!
The Major Players vs. Decay
As Decay was coming to the ring, Trey Miguel attacked Crazzy Steve, who insisted he could still wrestle. Black Taurus started the match and had control when he tagged out to Steve. Steve went nuts on Matt Cardona and Brian Myers. Cardona nailed him in the back of the head, where Miguel attacked him, knocking Steve off balance. The Major Players double teamed him and scored the pin.
Your winners, The Major Players!
Pretty obvious who the next challengers for the Tag titles will be!
There was a contract signing for the Hard to Kill PPV Knockouts match. Mickie said that Jordynne shouldn't presume she can beat and retire Mickie. Tasha came out and said Mickie hasn't beaten her yet. Mickie agreed to fight her next week but Grace stepped in, saying she wanted Mickie to be 100% when they fought. Scott D'Amore said that they'll do a tag match next week.
Backstage, Gia Miller interviewed Mike Bailey. He said that if Kenny King wants to play games, he can do that too or they can just fight.
Sami Callihan vs. Angels with Violent by Design
Angels attacked Sami, who made a comeback and hit a suplex into the buckles. He went for the Cactus Piledriver but Angels escaped. They battled on the floor. Deaner and Sami went face to face. Callihan went for the Cactus piledriver on the apron but Kon distracted hin, allowing Angels to knock him off to the floor. Angels missed a dive from the top but still took Sami down and attempted to cinch in The LaBell Lock. Callihan fought his way out and nailed a brainbuster for a near fall. They battled back and forth with punches and chops. Angels nailed a frog splash for a two count. He missed a second and Callihan nailed a package piledriver for the pin.
Big Kon attacked Sami and kept beating on him. Deaner pulled him off and stared at Sami. Angels nailed Callihan with a spinkick, leaving Callihan down, allowing Deaner to sit atop of him.
Backstage, Gisele Shaw asked Deonna Purrazzo to team with her against the Death Dollz.
Taylor Wilde apparently turned into Shelly Martinez as she was going through tarot cards. We will see where this goes!
Joe Hendry & Bhupinder Gujjar vs. Johnny Swinger & Zicky Dice
Joe Hendry said he was really disturbed by Swinger's Dungeon. Aren't we all. He said that his dungeon was a place where people believed in Joe Hendry. As he knocked Swinger's dungeon for all its depravity, Swinger was all the more proud and excited of the place. They weren't long into the match when Moose tried to attack Hendry. Hendry avoided it and mocked Moose, who chased him backstage. The match kept going and Gujjar nailed the Gargoyle Spear on Swinger for the pin. So much for getting a title shot after winning 50 matches Johnny!
Your winners, Joe Hendry & Bhupinder Gujjar!
Backstage, John Skyler and Jason Hotch bonded over being looked over and decided to become a team.
Steve Maclin did his usual good promo backstage, saying he was going to crush Rich Swann next week for wanting to get back to the Impact title when Maclin deserves the shot..
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Rhino & Heath Miller vs. The Motor City Machine Guns
Alex Shelley and Rhino kicked us off, with the story being that Rhino's power controlled the smaller but technically superior Shelley in the ring. Shelley was worked over until Miller tagged in. Shelley fought back and got Miller into the Guns' corner, where Chris Sabin tagged in. Miller was able to control Sabin, who came back with a bulldog. The Guns began nailing all their signature offense. Shelley went for Sliced Bread #2 but was caught and powerslammed. After a commercial, Rhino had tagged in and Shelley was worked over for some time by the champions. Sabin finally got the hot tag and they battled back and forth. Rhino Gored Sabin but didn't get the pinfall. Rhino went for another Gore but Sabin shocked him with a sunset flip and scored the pin.
Your winners and new Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, The Motor City Machine Guns!
Good main event and a solid show that was more focused on building storylines vs. in-ring action this week but after that Alexander vs. Bailey match last week, they have to change lanes as no way they could match that week to week.
