RAW’S LOSING RATING, WOULD TALENTS HAVE GONE TO AEW IF THEY KNEW HHH WAS TAKING OVER, THE BOOKING (AGAIN) AND MORE

What do you make of the hour three drop on Raw.  Is it time to get concerned?

I always say one time, OK don’t overreact.  Two times, a pattern could be developing.  WWE should definitely be concerned.  A massive drop is never a good thing.  As to why it’s happening?  Well, I have said for years that this is the dead zone.  Nothing big will happen until next month when Mania season starts.  The difference this year is that there are no PLEs between Survivor Series and The Royal Rumble.  They aren’t building to anything right now which makes the show less must see.  My guess is that we will not see a PLE break of this length in 2023.

I haven't been following the NWA and its talent much in recent years, so could you explain why there seems to be some kind of backlash or controversy over Tyrus winning the NWA championship?

One, he's Tyrus.  Two, he is on FOX News, which rubs some people the wrong way.  Three, he's Tyrus.  Four, a co-host on FOX claimed he harassed her.  Five, he's Tyrus. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s the NWA and with all due respect, it doesn’t matter that much.  There aren’t many eyeballs on it and they are probably thinking Tyrus’ celebrity can help with that.

Obviously, the grass was greener for them at the time they opted to leave WWE for AEW, but do you think there's any part of Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly that wishes they stayed put with all that has changed at their former place of employment?  While KOR's injury was likely from wear and tear more than any one thing, an argument could be made that Cole's injury was a result of AEW's seemingly more reckless in-ring style (not that there aren't concussions in other places).  Also, do you think Roderick Strong is happy that his release was not granted now that a main roster run is more likely under the new regime?

I think that a LOT of talent in AEW right now would have made a different choice had Vince left in 2021 instead of 2022. In fact, I know talents that wouldn’t have left if Paul Levesque were in charge instead of Vince.

When Cody was in AEW, we saw him do a lot of behind-the-scenes work befitting of someone with an EVP title.  So what duties do Kenny and the Bucks do (or have been doing) to warrant their EVP status?  Are they working on the production or business side of the company in any capacity?  Are they acting as mentors or working with the young talents?  Are they contributing to creative?

I know Kenny was handling the women's division for a while.  Beyond that, I am not sure what they do, other than drive the top drawing star out of the company.

I’ve been a fan since The Attitude Era, and began tuning out between 2015 and 2017, although I still kept up with happenings. Then AEW came in the picture and it was a breath of fresh air. I’ve gone to more live events than I care to admit which include traveling out of state to two AEW pay per views. Now I am feeling that 2015-2017 rut again, and even leaning more toward WWE. The AEW backstage drama surely hasn’t helped and from a business perspective I am questioning more and more why AEW make the decisions they do. AEW just doesn’t feel like AEW anymore. In your humble opinion, do you think needs to be corrected in this company to “right” the ship? Tony Khan keeping fans in the dark about so many things (William Regal, CM punk, MJF during the summer, etc.) has ended up being a huge sore. If you market your company to “smart” fans shouldn’t you be open and transparent with situations like these?

I have said the same thing about transparency.  Khan markets to hardcore fans and keeps them in dark. That isn’t good but that isn’t the main problem to me.  What needs to be fixed, in the worst way, is the booking.  It’s just not good.  The problem is if you listen to Khan talk, like on last week’s conference call, he thinks the booking is great so there is no way he will fix something that he doesn’t see as being a problem.
