12/7/22 Results from New Japan's Super Jr. Tag League from Nagasaki, Japan:
1 - Ryohei Oiwa and Yuto Nakashima vs. Oskar Leube and Kosei Fujita
Fujita forces Oiwa to tap out to a Boston Crab.
2 - El Desperado, Lance Archer and Minoru Suzuki vs. Gedo, Taiji Ishimori and Bad Luck Fale
Suzuki pins Gedo after a Gotch Piledriver.
3 - Master Wato, Tomoaki Honma, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito.
Takagi pin Honma after a Pumping Bomber.
Super Jr. Tag League Matches:
4 - KUSHIDA and Kevin Knight vs. Francesco Akira and TJP
Knight jumped from the mat to take Akira down off the top rope with a hurricanrana. That was amazing.
Catch 22 hits a 2X2 on Knight.
TJP pins Knight.
Catch 22 is in a tie for the lead with 12 points.
KUSHIDA and Knight are eliminated.
5 - Clark Conners and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Lio Rush and YOH
YOH pins Taguchi after a 3K.
YOH and Rush are tied for the lead with 12 points.
Conners and Taguchi are essentially eliminated with 6 points.
6 - DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Dick Togo and SHO
Ref bump out to the floor. SHO gets his wrench and fights DOUKI who has his metal pipe. DOUKI chokes SHO with the pipe. Togo chokes DOUKI with his wire. Kanemaru takes a swig of whiskey. EVIL and Yujiro hit the ring. Kanemaru sprays Yujiro in the eyes then low blows EVIL. Kanemaru sprays Togo. SHO low blows Kanemaru. All men are down. The referee gets back in the ring and sees everyone laid out.. Togo attacks DOUKI and goes for a swig of Kanemaru's whiskey. DOUKI chops him in the throat and Togo sprays the whiskey in the air. DOUKI traps Togo in the Italian Stretch #32.
Togo submits.
Suzuki-Gun gets to 6 points total, but are essentially eliminated.
House of Torture, with 2 points are done as well.
DOUKI has looked strong in recent Super Tag League victories. Hopefully, this will lead to bigger things in 2023 for DOUKI.
7 - Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask vs. Titan and BUSHI
Titan tripped off the top rope when trying to hit Angel Immortal on Tiger Mask. BUSHI directed him to hit a springboard dropkick on Tiger Mask.
Titan pins Tiger Mask.
Titan and BUSHI are tied for the lead at 12 points.
Eagles and Tiger Mask are essentially eliminated at 4 points.
Titan has hit this move throughout the tournament. Very weird to see him miss it. The crowd went quiet when it happened.
8 - El Lindaman and Alex Zayne vs. Chris Bey and Ace Austin
Good match. Zayne, Bey and Austin are familiar with each other from their time in Impact.
Lindaman hits a bridging German suplex on Austin with Zayne floating over with a jackknife.
They pin Austin
Lindaman and Zayne get to 12 points. 5-way tie for the lead.
Austin and Bey remain at 12 points.
With five teams tied for the lead, heading into the last week of the tournament, it will be interesting to see who moves on to Wrestle Kingdom to face Catch 22 for the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Titles.
