TIPS TO AVOID THE SLOT MACHINE ZONE

By Kendall Jenkins on 2022-11-26 18:01:00

Slot machine addiction is a real thing. It’s something that can ruin families, careers and lives if left unchecked, so it’s important to know how to avoid the zone when playing at casinos or online slots sites . In this article, we’ll go over 5 tips to avoid the slot machine zone and help you maximize your gambling experience without ruining your life by getting addicted to slots.

1) Define your goals

Define your goals. There are so many casino games, so it's important to know what you want before you go. Know how much time you want to spend in a casino. Ask yourself if gambling is really your thing before going in. Ask yourself these questions: What do I hope to accomplish by gambling? Will my life be better or worse off with or without gambling? Am I willing to risk losing all my money for that? Is it worth the cost?

2) Set a budget

Set a budget and stick to it. If you find yourself playing a machine that is not paying out, move on. Keep track of your winnings and losses, because you will be tempted to double up when you’re on a hot streak. Take breaks between rounds of play. Limit the amount of time you spend playing. Use the rest of your time on vacation exploring other fun activities, like ziplining or kayaking!

3) Understand the odds

Slot machines are designed so players will lose money. The odds of winning anything of value are typically 1 in 20 and even worse, they're rigged. When you go into a casino, your slots experience starts with the vigor slot. This is when you're checked for metal objects (like a belt or coins) and then you insert your ID card into a machine that takes an imprint of it. When you win at slots, your luck might change for the better and give you back some of what was lost.

4) Use a system

Use a system to gamble. Have your rules in place before you start, and stick with them. You will be much less likely to fall into the slot machine zone.  Set limits for yourself - how much you are willing to lose or spend before quitting for good, as well as what time of day you'll stop playing and leave. One way is to budget 1% of your net worth per hour played. For example: if you have $1000 net worth, then budget 10 cents per minute played. When that budget is up, quit for the night!

5) Manage your time

Manage your time by always having a clear goal of what you are trying to accomplish and plan accordingly. Be flexible with your plans if you find yourself veering off course, but don’t allow yourself to be distracted by every new shiny object that comes along. And never gamble money that you can’t afford to lose.
