RIC FLAIR CAST FOR VON ERICHS FILM 'THE IRON CLAW'

Deadline.com is reporting that former NWA World Champion Ric Flair will be played by Aaron Dean Eisneberg (HBO's The Deuce) in the Von Erichs film The Iron Claw, which is currently in production in Louisiana.  Flair lost the NWA title to the late Kerry Von Erich at the Parade of Champions in 1984 in what was undoutedly the biggest match and moment in World Class Championship Wrestling history.

Actor Zac Efron will be starring as Kevin Von Erich in the film.  Kevin is the lead character in the film, which will be shooting through December.  

Jeremy Allen White of FX's The Bear will play former NWA World Champion Kerry Von Erich.   Harris Dickinson, recently seen in Where the Crawdads Sing, is set to play David Von Erich in the film.   Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, the next Mission Impossible film starring Tom Cruise) has been cast as Von Erich family patriarch Fritz Von Erich.  Maura Tierney will play Doris Von Erich, matriarch of the Von Erich family. 

The film is "Based on the true story of the Von Erichs, the film follows the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day."

A24 is financing and produce the pic with Sean Durkin writing and directing.   Durkin most recently directed films Martha Mary May Marlese and The Nest.

Kevin Von Erich and his family have no current involvement in the film in any way, shape or form.
