How did you make it in the wrestling business when so many other people didn’t?  I see failed writers and promoters come and go all the time but after decades you are still here.

I like to think it’s because we provide a quality product that people trust.  I have always thought that trust with the reader is the most important aspect of what we do.  Another thing that I feel gets people into trouble is that they put their love for wrestling over running the actual business of their business.  My college major was Business (I minored in Journalism) so I think from that perspective. I think too many people let their inner mark get in the way of being a businessperson.

Jim Cornette recently said that Logan Paul was better than 90% of the AEW roster and while I consider that an exaggeration, there is no denying he had excellent basics, like timing or selling and following the ring general. AEW talent who come up through the indies are often lacking in these areas, even after several years in the business. How come some celebrities can get "it" within short notice, while these people can't? Aren't you supposed to be getting more refined with experience? Are they not coachable enough, are they not listening to veterans, or are they simply taught the wrong way? Is the issue what the teacher teaches, or what the student learns?

The difference is the celebs like Paul and Bad Bunny want to do things the WWE way.  They train with WWE talent to put on a match that looks great.  The AEW guys you talk about like doing indy style stuff and Tony Khan must like it too, so they do it.  There are a lot of stories of people like The Young Bucks and Adam Page saying that they don't want coaching so they do the kinds of matches that they want to do. Oh, and Logan Paul is awesome, no doubt.

How many different names and owners has the ECW Arena had?

A lot.  I don’t want to put a number out because I may miss one, but a lot.  Viking Hall was always my favorite name.

Who do you see beating Mandy Rose?

The woman who scores the pin on her.  Seriously, I am not sure at this point.  She has had a great, long run so whoever it is will get a rub from it.

Do you think Akira Tozawa misses actually wrestling in serious matches?

I can’t speak for him but if I were him, I wouldn’t.  He is a small guy who will never be champion so if it were me, I would love the comedy role.  He’s 37 years old and comedy is a lot easier on the body that wrestling serious matches.  I would love to get paid for less abuse on my body if I was never going to be in a top spot.
