It is Friday and AEW Rampage is live, pal! They are at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Our commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Chris Jericho.
Ricky Starks vs Lance Archer in the AEW World Title Championship Challenger Tournament.
In the back, Lance Archer and Ricky Starks are already fighting. Archer tosses Starks into the steel garage style door. Starks tosses a trash can at Archer and they brawl into the arena through the crowd. The brawl into the crowd and then into the ringside area. Archer tosses Starks into the ring and the bell rings.
They fight in the corner with Starks able to get in a series to strikes, kicks and then clotheslines Starks out of the ring. Starks follows to the floor and Archer choke slams Starks on the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Archer is in control and beating down Starks in the corner. Starks is put on the top. Archer tries to set up for the Block Out, but Starks hits a series of blows and then a diving shoulder tackle. Starks comes off the ropes with a big clothesline. Starks tries for a swinging DDT, but Archer tosses him off and nails Starks with a clothesline for a two count. Starks is able to get the swinging DDT for a two count.
Starks wraps a braid of Archer around his arm, but Archer is able to shrug him off. They battle, run the ropes and Archer hits a spear, but Starks is right back up. They run the ropes again and Starks hits a spear and covers for a three count and the win.
Winner and moving on: Ricky Starks
Brian Cage comes out to the stage and they will face each other tomorrow night, but Archer attacks Starks from behind. Archer flips the steel steps and then choke slams Starks on the steps.
We get a video of Jon Moxley vs MJF.
We have a pre tape with Jericho and Sammy Guevara with Tony Schiavone about the Ring of Honor World Title, Jericho says Daniels and Claudio will fall apart and he will keep the title, Sammy and him guarantee it. Jericho leaves and Sammy shakes his head and says “We’ll see about that.”
FTW Champion Hook vs. Lee Moriarty.
They lock collar and elbow and go tot he corner. Hook drives to the corner and Lee reverses it. Hook then takes Lee down. They break and Hook takes Lee down again and goes for a wrist lock, but Lee counters it. Hook gets a suplex and then locks in a full body ankle lock. Lee breaks it and they get on their feet. Hook gets a carryover suplex.
Stokely swiped at Hook’s foot and while he’s looking, Lee knocks hook out of the ring and us out to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Lee is throwing cross face strikes in the middle of the ring. Hook grabs one of them and Hook is able to get a lariat. Hook blocks Les’s next punch and then just rains blows into Lee’s midsection. Hook hits an overhead throw on lee and a back heel trip. Hook hits a Fisherman’s throw. Hook comes at Lee in the corner, and Lee kicks him in the midsection. Lee leaps to the top and hits a diving knee drop for a two count.
Lee locks in a Kimura, turns it into a pin and for two and then Lee turns it into a Motor City Stretch. Hook reverses it into the Redrum and Lee has to tap out.
Winner and still FTW Champion: Hook
Tony is in the back with Jose and Rush talking to 10 and John Silver. Silver says he cost Rush a title match and he thinks it was great. Jose says that Silver is a clown and almost thinks he’s tough enough to take on him and Rush. Silver says they can beat them, 10 says “what do you mean we” and leave and Rush threatens Silver.
Athena vs. Madison Rayne
We get a video update that Athena has been more vicious in her matches and attacking people after them of late.
Athena drop kick Madison from behind and they brawl across the ring. They fight in the corner and Madison suplexes Athena into the buckle and hits a knee strike. Madison then comes off the ropes with a modified spear and Athena bails out of the ring. Madison follows and Athena grabs Madison and swings her into the barricade.
They go into the ring and Athena hits a back handspring into a backhand on Madison in the corner. Madison picks Athena’s legs and cover for a two count. Athena is up first and hits a stalling front suplex. Madison gets a series of clotheslines and goes for the cross rain, but Athena is able to hit a flip forward stun and nails Madison with an elbow. Athena hits that side slam hybrid and covers for the three count.
Winner: Athena.
Athena goes to Attack Madison and Athena nails the referee instead. Athena starts to attack Madison and Mercedes Martinez comes to the ring and chases her off.
Renee is with the Best Friends and the Factory. Orange Cassidy says he wants to fight all of the Factory tomorrow at the PPV. Rocky Romero joins and Cassidy hands The Factory a video and says to watch it.
It’s a creepy Danhausen video and The Factory shrug it off.
We get another creepy/weird House of Black video about how the subpar are being rewarded and the House of Black call you to heed the creed in body and bone. We get a pledge of allegiance to the House of Black.

Mark Henry’s interview segment is short and Ortiz says that this is a dream match for him.
Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. DDT Pro's Jun Akiyama & Konosuke Takeshita
Eddie starts with Takeshita and they lock up collar and elbow to the Greco-Roman knuckle lock. Eddie turns it into an arm bar into a headlock. Takeshita reverses the hold And they go to run the ropes. Eddie is able to take Takeshita down with a belly to belly suplex and then brings Takeshita to his corner for Ortiz to tag in. Eddie goes to the other corner and give Akiyama a shot for not starting off the match.
Ortiz takes a shot from Takeshita, who then tags in Akiyama. They run the ropes and Akiyama hits an elbow on Ortiz and gives Eddie a receipt. Akiyama works over Ortiz in his corner and hits a pile driver on Ortiz. Akiyama sees Eddie coming into the ring and turns to make sure he is ready.
Eddie backs off and Takeshita is tagged in. Takeshita and Akiyama go after Ortiz in the corner. Ortiz is up and trying to fight back as we go picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Eddie has Takeshita in hand and tags in Ortiz. Ortiz hits a Northern lights suplex with a bridge for a two count. Eddie is tagged in and Takeshita tried to break free from their double team, but Eddie hits a DDT for a two count. Eddie’s traps come down and he and Takeshita trade chops.
Takeshita changes up to elbow strikes and then runs the ropes with a flying clothesline. Eddie tags in Ortiz and Akiyama is tagged in. Ortiz hits chops and Akiyama hits high boots and then hits a jumping knee. Akiyama sets for the exploder, but Eddie comes in and they trade cops. Akiyama changes to elbow strikes. Akiyama takes him down with a clothesline. Ortiz power slams Takeshida, but he pops up and hits a blue thunder bomb on Ortiz, and then start throwing hands with Eddie.
Eddie hits a belly to back suplex and all four men are down. Akiyama and Eddie are up first and trade shots back and forth. Eddie hits an exploder on Akiyama, and Akiyama follows with an exploder. Akiyama hits running knee to Ortiz in the corner and then follows with an exploder and covers Ortiz for the pin and the win.
Winners: Jun Akiyama & Konosuke Takeshita
