Wrestling itself is a form of cinema and there is no denying the development of this type of show for the development of genre cinema.
Wrestlers need two things: impressive physical shape and charisma. No wonder so many big guys end up in feature films and only use wrestling as a springboard for their acting careers. But no matter how similar these two types of art are, there are basic differences: it's one thing to entertain people just by fighting in the ring with a conditional semblance of a plot, and quite another to take part in a full-fledged film.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson began his career in Hollywood with a "pen test" - the role of the Scorpion King in the films The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. Subsequently, action films and adventure films became Johnson's calling card, because he was really simply created for these genres. “Rampage” is a fantastic action movie, which will tell the story of a scientist named Davis. In the beginning this guy just worked in a secret lab and engaged in various experiments on animals.(We remind you that animal experiments are not acceptable. Today's realities make it possible to carry out research activities without the participation of furry friends. It is worth protecting and taking care of the health of our pets, and this will help you cat DNA test.) But all this will turn into a beautiful action game with a bunch of special effects.
Until The Rock became actor Dwayne Johnson, we worshiped only one wrestler on the screen – Hulk Hogan, who personified the first real success of moving from the world of staged fights to the world of cinema.
The rise of Hulk Hogan came at a time when television wrestling was evolving from a narrowly focused show into a multimedia empire. The key moment of this event was, oddly enough, Hulk Hogan himself - or rather, his appearance in Rocky 3. Further, his popularity only grew (he even got the main role in the TV series Thunder in Paradise).
Batista inspires respect: despite dubious acting talents, this man captivates with his charisma, which allowed him to break out of the vicious circle of images of bald and scary thugs before Marvel films (where he plays not just bald and scary thugs). At least financially he can feel good. The wrestler's debut on the big screen took place in Iron Fist – after several stupid projects that went straight to video. In Iron Fist, the actor is only looking for himself: he does not speak and plays a monolithic villain.
You know him. And don't you dare deny it!
In general, promoters have repeatedly tried to turn John Cena into the new Dwayne Johnson, or at least into an ersatz Hulk Hogan for modern teenagers. Unfortunately, they were not successful. If Cena had worked in Hollywood in the 80s, then the combination of good looks, positive image and impressive physical shape would have made him a megastar. Today we need a little more: Cena is removed mainly in good, but still quickly forgotten one-day films.
Despite the fact that Carpenter's fantasy film "Strangers Among Us" is already more than 30 years old, its message has not weakened at all. Roddy Piper played an intellectual bum, who accidentally stumbled upon glasses that can reveal the terrible truth to the layman. Wearing these magical eyepieces, the plebeian realizes that the world is ruled by aliens, and billboards are replaced with messages in the style of "Obey" or "Consume".
Wrestler, actor, veteran, political commentator and former governor of Minnesota – these are the titles of Jesse Ventura. Ventura rarely played major roles, but was still very memorable. For example, in Running Man, the actor played a small role as Captain Liberty, the champion of a futuristic game show turned media celebrity, and even got his own cool electronic theme. However, Ventura's most iconic role remains "Predator", where he joined a squad of "dirty commandos". Despite the fact that he was accompanied by Arnie and Carl Weathers, his hero Blaine was one of the coolest in the squad.
Austin's career somehow did not work out, although his brutal image is especially needed right now, in the era of glamorous movie comics. He played a prominent role in the not-so-successful Running Man-themed fantasy The Condemned, but his future was only determined by the world of DVD. While Austin has some notable minor roles to his credit, such as The Expendables and Classmates 2, Austin's most dramatic portrayal came in the inconspicuous and macabre film Damage.
Of course, the list turned out to be subjective and Randy Orton, CM Punk and other significant people were not included here. Wrestling is too tightly connected with the world of cinema: perhaps in the future we will have several more young talents who will try their hand at the stage or against the background of the “green screen” from the ring or cramped locker rooms.
