Wrestling Open Week 45

AEW was in town last night so you know some of our old friends are in the area, including tonight’s big advertised return of Wheeler Yuta! But hey, it’s 7:45 and we got a spotlight match.

Spotlight Match: Reid Walker vs Juney Underwood

Underwood is some kinda pyromaniac. He’s on fire in the early moments! Reid Walker is having trouble containing him so he waits for Underwood to burn himself out. Missed dive and Walker starts to smother him with shots. Running knee to the gut but there’s still an ember of life left in Underwood. Spring to life, Underwoot tries a rollup but doesn’t. A huge meteora but Walker kicks out. Walker jumps into a sleeper and puts whatever fire Underwood had left to rest.

Winner: Reid Walker

And we’re live on IWTV! Paul Crockett is at the commentary table. Rich Palladino is your announcer! I have 40k in fake money in my bag for “donation reasons”. LETS GOOOOOOO!

Channing Thomas and Alec Price BURST out of the curtain in a huge brawl! They aren’t even in gear! This goes right out the doors of the White Eagle into the streets of Worcester. Is this gonna be a recurring segment?

Match 1: The Mane Event (Jay Lyon & Midas Black), Big Bacon Brad Hollister and Steven Stetson vs Wasted Generation (Ichiban, Marcus Mathers, Kylon King & Austin Luke)

What a matchup! Hollister is sick of us. He’s sick of Wrestling Open. He’s sick of Ichiban. Wrestling Open stacked some of our most hated and favorite humans in the same segment right now. Bacon and Ichiban go right into a slugfest. Stetson wants a piece but Ichiban is too much. Mathers gets some hard chops on the cowboy. Mane Event isolate him with a leapfrog hangman’s backsplash. Oh Reid Walker is out here too, prolly to annoy his former Wasted Youth teammates. Kylon and Luke with a chasing the dragon but Bacon breaks that up. Huge 8-person brawl! Quad whip and the Rodeo Clowns all collide! Bunch of dives to the floor. Mathers takes out Stetson and Walker by me. Stetson caught by Mathers in a bomb! Lyon cuts off the fire. Kylon reverses a tombstone and spikes Lyon! Midas with a backslide pin and feet on the ropes! Noooo! Absolutely bonkers opener.

Winners: The Rodeo Clowns

Kylon is MAD. He has a challenge for Mane Event. At Autumn Classic, he wants to go another round with them for the Tag championships. Is Dustin Waller cool with this? 

Match 2: The Church of Greatness (Brother Greatness & Anastasia Morningstar vs Best Bros. (Baliyan Akki & Mei Seruga)

Mei Seruga is excited to be here but SCARED TO DEATH of Morningstar.  Baliyan Akki in to beat the tar out of the holy man. Mei is more than happy to send him flying. Greatness gets a slam in and Akki RUNS HIM OVER. Huge press double stomp, Morningstar is in and Mei is out again. Anastasia beating Akki bad. Mei tries to save him but Morningstar just wrecks her with a clothesline. Powerbomb facebuster to Akki! Huge suplex! Kick out! Splash! Kick out! Meanwhile, Brother Greatness cheers on his demoness. Mei and Akki get BG isolated but Anastasia isn’t letting her brother fall. Anastasia hits her tornado facebuster on Mei, and picks up the emphatic win. This was awesome.

Winners: The Church of Greatness

Match 3: Davienne vs Clara Carreras 

Davienne puts Clara on the corner and pats her head. Carreras almost shocks her with a rollup. Davy catches a crossbody, huge backbreaker! Implant Buster! Clara kicks out! She fights t the buckles, crossbody! Davy goes for another buster but Clara hits a bulldog reversal! Corner cannonball! Jackknife pin? Davy out and powerbombs La Chica! Kick out! Davienne puts on a Boston crab and basically sits on Clara’s head to get the tap!

Winner: Davienne

Match 4: Aaron Rourke vs Allie Katch

This isn’t BUSSY, says Rourke, but he does let the crowd talk him into helping Katch with a kip up out of a sense of fair play. That doesn’t last as he makes her eat buckles and feet. Handspring double chop! Katch fights out of a neck crank but Rourke connect with a wicked spinning kick to the head. This should be lights out but Allie is made of tougher stuff. Corner senton reversal! Katch cannonballs! Kick out! She goes for a Heatseeker but Rourke fights it off…he comes off the top but eats feet! Allie hits a second rope cutter! Kick out! Slugging it out in the center! Rourke handsprings out of the piledriver! Rourke hits a package piledriver…Katch kicks out! Fight out to the apron…this is Allie’s playground…dVD to the hardest part of the ring! Rourke kicks out! Rourke bites free of the piledriver and stuffs her with a catch ddt for the win! Sick match.

Winner: Aaron Rourke

Match 5: Paris Van Dale vs Kennedi Copeland

Paris has a too good for this match and demands respect. Kennedi dodges her and chops her up. Paris with a cutter and split leg drop but Kennedi holds on. Kennedi really needs to hold the leg on these pin. Huge slap and a thez press from Copeland! Side Russian folds Paris in half but she kicks out. Paris with a gut to the gut and a double arm ddt out of nowhere and Kennedi LOSES?!? What?!?

Winner: Paris Van Dale

Alec and Channing blow back through the front door and battle through the room through the curtain again! 

Match 6: The Hispanic Mechanics (Jos A & Jos B) vs Bobby Orlando & Love Doug

This starts with some fun chain wrestling but you KNOW it’s gonna devolve into dance antics and romantic moments. Jos A nearly steals one in a dance off. Doug makes a marriage proposal and almost steals one. Orlando and B take their tops off so they can test their meaty man chests. The Mechanics with a double slam! Orlando hits with a tandem slam! Kick out! Love Doug with the bulldog on B and clotheslines him to the floor! Doug dives but gets caught! Orlando with the tope! Bobby misses a cross body! A2B on Doug! The Mechanics pick up the win!!!

Winners: Hispanic Mechanics

Match 7: Layla Luciano vs Tiara James 

Good early scramble but Tiara tosses Layla off. Layla with some big shoulder blocks in the corner. James goes for neck crank. Layla fights it off, spinning slam! Big clubbing blows to Tiara’s back. Back and forth! Tiara with a running neckbreaker but Layla won’t quit. She tries a monkey flip but Layoa catches her in a giant swing! She swings her for a 20 count and Tiara is DOA on landing for Layla to get the three! Both of these ladies worked their ass off here and the crowd ate it up. 

Winner: Layla Luciano

Match 8: B3CCA vs Elle Valentine

Who is Elle Valentine And where did she come from? We love the energy as she chugs an energy drink and smashes the can into her forehead like she’s Taurine Sandman. Becca has it out for her and unloads on her in the corner. Valentine firing up but Becca just superkicks her out of it. Swinging facebuster ends this quickly.

Winner: Becca

Becca has the mic but Little mean Kathleen is right out here. Is Becca pulling Double duty? It’s a match!

Match 9: B3CCA vs LMK

Superkick, strangle, swinging facebuster. Is this over—kick out! LMK with the rollup on a distraught Becca. LMK tries a sleeper. High crossbody for two! Becca kicks her head off again! She pulls her hair over the top rope. Head scissor from LMK! Thesz press off the apron! Becca misses a double stomp! Double clothesline. LMK with a boot to the skull! Running stomps! Becca tries to block the Flavor bomb but LMK is ready…trailer hitch! Becca slugs free! Swinging sleeper choke and a release. Camel clutch to LMK and she has to submit. Becca wins again. Ugh….

Winner: Becca 

Becca grabs a cord and starts choking LMK with it. She’s back on the mic, Ray Jaz isn’t here this week so she’s getting alllllll that promo booing energy. She wants to fight someone she’s never beaten next week. I mean, I have some thoughts… 

Alec and Channing spill out from the back and into the ring. The locker room empties trying to break it up! The crowd chanting to let them fight…they are really trying to get at each other. Alec with a rope walk to the other side and dives out to fight Channing. Channing is sent to the back as Alec commands the ring. Alec isn’t waiting for next week and decides to go right back after him. I was already excited for their fight on Thanksgiving but I am absolutely hyped for it now.

Main Event: Wheeler Yuta vs Dustin Flash Waller

My God, I’ve been hyped for this since it was announced. This is ridiculously good spot for Waller to be in. Yuta is still a little hot about Waller getting in his face at Americanrana. Yuta knows who Waller is and says that this week, he’s not on his level. Flash ALMOST catches him at the bell coming in to end it quick. Yuta powders immediately as he knows just how close that was. Yuta gets in close and out wrestles Dustin and finishes the sequence with a double bird. Flash with a quick escape, 619, slingshot in for a cutter! Dustin handsprings but Yuta catches him out of the air with a German! This is already really good. Huuuuuge chop and a thunderclap that makes everyone wince. Yuta surfboards him. Spinning toes holds to take Flash’s legs away. Yuta with a huge suplex and he’s feeling v confident. The crowd loves Yuta but they really want Flash to show out tonight. Huge power whip to the corner. A slingshot clothesline and Waller is back in it! He misses the mark on a double stomp but the handspring cutter connects for two! Yuta elbows free of a fireman’s carry…atomic drop…missile shotgun dropkick! Flash back with a running shooting star! He tries to talk trash to Yuta but he gets decked. Yuta tries to send him out but Flash with a huge dive to the floor. Fight to the top! Superplex shakes the ring! Double down! We have a record setting crowd tonight and it’s on fire! Trading slaps as they try to get to their feet. Flash with a flurry of blows and Wheeler’s to his knees! Hard kicks but Yuta hits an Olympic slam! Flash will not die! Yuta misses a frog splash! Waller hits his! Kick out! The crowd is split hard between these two as we hit the 15 minute mark. Yuta turns on the gas and lays Waller flat with a pile of elbows. He twists the arm and head up but Dustin gets a leg on the rope! Dustin with a f*** you of defiance as Yuta grabs his arms and stomps his head under the ref stops the match. Holy s***! An instant classic. Hot damn. 

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

Yuta on the mic. He admits he was wrong about him…cause that hurt. He says he thinks they’re on the same level. He tells Dustin to defend his championship and his house this hard. Yuta rolls out and lets Dustin take in the chants! 

Absolutely fantastic episode tonight. Some people called it the best episode in the series so far. It is definitely UP THERE and mayhaps that is true. One thing that is undeniable: We broke 300 attendance tonight, making this the highest attendance in Wrestling Open so far. A fire show from top to bottom…and we’re still BUILDING heat towards Thanksgiving’s Autumn Classic on 11/24. That show is going to be insane.
