10/27/22 Results from New Japan’s Battle Autumn ‘22, Round 2 of the World Television Title Tournament begins - Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
Ryohei Oiwa vs. Aaron Henare
Henare pins Oiwa after a Rampage.
Yuto Nakashima and Ren Narita vs. Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii
Ishii forces Nakashima to tap out in a Boston Crab.
After the match, Narita attacked Yano. Yano pulled him to the outside and taped Narita to the guardrail. Narita got free and went after Yano in the locker room. Both men will face each other in Round 2 of the Television Title Tournament.
Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma vs. Jeff Cobb and Great O-Khan
O-Khan came to the ring with his face in bandages, selling the green mist from The Great Muta last night.
Cobb pins Honma after a Tour of the Islands.
BUSHI, Titan and Hiromu Takahashi vs. Francesco Akira, TJP and Gideon Grey
Titan pins Grey after a double stomp
El Desperado, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Master Wato, Alex Zayne, Hikuleo and Hiroshi Tanahashi
Wato forces TAKA to tap out to Vendaval.
They announced a joint tour between NJPW and CMLL called Fantastica Mania 2023, which will be in February starting in Takamatsu, Japan and ending at Korakuen Hall.
SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. KENTA and Gedo
Naito pins Gedo with a Jacknife Roll Up.
NJPW World Television Title Tournament Matches:
Round 2: YOSHI-HASHI vs. EVIL, with Dick Togo
EVIL and Togo quickly attacked with their usual tricks. YOSHI-HASHI fights back. YOSHI-HASHI throws a kick but EVIL throws the referee into the way and gets kicked in the gut. EVIL hits YOSHI-HASHI in the stomach with a chair. EVIL puts the chair around his neck and hits him with another chair. Crowd screams with boos. EVIL hits Darkness Falls. Two count. EVIL goes for his finisher but YOSHI-HASHI pushes him into the turnbuckle and drops him with a Dragon Suplex. They trade shots. EVIL bumps into Togo. YOSHI-HASHI hits a lariat and a brainbuster. EVIL kicks out a two. YOSHI-HASHI goes for Karma but EVIL grabs the referee. He pulls the referee’s shirt and the referee slaps EVIL. YOSHI-HASHI rolls up EVIL for a two count. Togo jumps on the apron to yell at the referee. YOSHI-HASHI argues with Togo while EVIL grabs a chair. EVIL charges but he hits Togo instead. YOSHI-HASHI super kicks the chair into EVIL’s face. He rolls up EVIL. Two count. YOSHI-HASHI goes for Karma. The exchange reversals. EVIL pushes him into the turnbuckle. EVIL hits Everything is Evil.
EVIL pins YOSHI-HASHI
EVIL advances in the World Television Title Tournament.
Round 2: David Finlay vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
They began with chain wrestling. Until they got frustrated and started throwing stiff shots. ZSJ went after his left arm with submissions. Finlay fought back and they picked up the pace. They exchanged reversals and two counts. Great stuff here. ZSJ was get frustrated and they exchanged punches. ZSJ caught Finlay in a backslide and rolled him up with a bridge.
ZSJ pins Finlay.
Zack Sabre Jr moves on in the Television Title Tournament.
My recap does not do this match justice. This may have been the best match of the tournament so far. Finlay is wrestling at his best right now. Zack Sabre Jr shows that he is a good tournament wrestler.
ZSJ gets the mic and tells the crowd that he is Tekkers Strong Style. He calls out EVIL who he will face in the next Round.
