WOW - WOMEN OF WRESTLING TV REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2022-10-23 23:34:00

WOW - Women of Wrestling aired over the weekend.  Our commentary team is David McLane, Steven Dickey, and AJ Mendez.

If you haven’t even seen WOW, most everyone has an over the top gimmick much like GLOW in the 1980’s. It’s syndicated, so it may show at different times depending when you live on weekend days.  Here in the Minneapolis area, it is on at 1 pm and 10 pm on Saturdays.

It was also reported by Wrestle nomics that WOW did a 0.04 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic and 251,000 viewers for episode three, which was down 33.3% and 8.1% respectively from episode two’s 0.06 demo rating and 273,000 viewers. The numbers then spiked for episode four, which drew a 0.07 demo rating (up 75%) and 334,000 viewers (up 33.1%. It is averaging 0.05 demo rating and 285,000 viewers in syndication so far over the first four episodes.

Now that the introduction is over:

Each episode has a title, and this week’s is The Three Way Dance.

David McLane says that Sophia Lopez, the greatest attorney in the world, disappointed him. She interfered in the championship match and is now banned from ringside.

GiGi Gianni and Andriano Gambino vs Chantilly Cheela and Foxxy Fierce in a tag team tournament match

Foxxy and Gigi start off and after a monkey flip, Gigi tags in Andriano and Chantilly tags in. Chantilly gets a series of cartwheels, leaps and other leaps to keep control. Andrianna cuts her off with a series of knees to the midsection and then tags in Gigi. They keep Cantilly in the corner with quick tags. Andriano mocks Foxxy so that Gigi can attack behind the refs’ back.

Yes, she literally puts her thumbs in her ears, wags her hands and sticks her tongue out.

Gigi tags in and keeps up the attack.  She pulls an abdominal stretch on Chantilly so that Adriano can hit a stomp to the stomach and a two count. Chantilly is able to finally get the hot tag of Foxxy and Gigi tags in as well.

Foxxy cleans house as if you couldn't already guess.

Foxxy got an enziguiri and a two count. Andriano comes in to try to double team Foxxy, but Chantilly hits a flying crossbody on the two of them. Chantilly and Foxxy hit double bulldogs. Chantilly is tossed from the ring. Adriano gives Foxxy a backstabber, Gigi hits a belly to belly slam and covers for the three.

Winners: GiGi Gianni and Andriano Gambino

Was Chantilly Chella already in a tag team that got eliminated?  Yes.

Did they explain why she is in another tag team that got a shot? No.

Will they explain it?  ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ASKING THAT QUESTION?  What show do you think this IS anyway?

We get a video profile of Glitch the Gamer. She’s a motorcyclist and a PC gamer.

In the back, Randi Rah Rah asks Coach Campinelli to watch her match and give her pointers.

Glitch vs Randi Rah Rah

Glitch mocks Randi with a bad cartwheel. Randi moves in with a forward cartwheel and they lock up. They have a series of arm drags and the sequence ends with Randi getting a rollup for a two count. Randi does a flip, but no one is there and she lands on her knees. Glitch works the leg and talks a lot of trash.

They trade blows and clothesline each other.  Both are down until 4, and Randi starts to fight back. Randi gets a flipping neck snap for a two count. Randi gets a small package for a two count. Glitch gets a leaping knee and puts Randi on her shoulders.

Coach Campinelli comes from the back blowing her whistle. She gets on the apron and Glitch gets in her face. This allows Randi to hit the most devastating move in all of professional wrestling, the surprise rollup for the three count.

Winner: Randi Rah Rah

In the back, the Disciplinarian is talking to Samantha Smart.

Jesse Jones comes in, puts her gum in Smart’s hand and says she can’t compete for the tag team title she was stripped of without a partner. She says she’s never been pinned and is the smart choice for a tag team partner. She leaves, and Smart tears apart her application.

Disciplinarian and Jesse Jones vs  Princess Aussie and Tiki Chamorro

Aussie and Disciplinarian start off. They work arm bars and headlocks. Aussie gets a series with an arm drag and a drop kick for takedowns. Tiki comes in and they hit a double drop kick for a tow count.  Tiki gets a stunner and Jesse tags in and Tiki keps control. Aussie tags in and hits a senton for a two count.

They have toned down Jesse since their run on AXS where she wore a rad cap with “Make Wrestling Great Again” and drew nuclear heat with the LA crowd. Now, she’s just a crude hillbilly character, which is probably best for a syndicated show on Sinclair.

Aussie keeps up the attack with drop kicks and two counts. Tiki is tagged in and they give her a double elbow and covers for a two count. Tiki hits a 619, but Smart hits her with her ruler from the outside during the move. Jesse and Disciplinarian take over. Disciplinarian works over Tiki and gets a two count.

Tiki escapes with a jaw breaker and gets the tag.

Aussie cleans house.

Aussie gets a spin kick for a two count. Jesse is able to dodge an attack in the corner and gets an arm snap on the top rope. Aussie is whipped into the ropes, but hangs on and Tiki comes off the top onto Jesse. Smart pulls Aussie out of the ring and Tiki gets a two count.  Aussie is clotheslined by Disciplinarian on the floor, Jesse hits Tiki with a Russian Leg Sweep and gets a wrist lock for the win.

Winners:  Disciplinarian and Jesse Jones

Jesse says she has a partner, put in her form and wants to be in the tournament.  The commentary team says they didn’t get the form. Jesse says she gave it to Smart and Smart turned it in. Jesse yells at Smart as we go to commercial.

We get a recap of everything leading up to this three way title match.

Beast (WOW Champion)  vs Tormenta vs Reina Del Rey

4 minutes left in the show, so I expect shenanigans.

Reina asks everyone to wait so she can take off her jewelry. She tosses it to the reff and surprise attacks Beast and Tormenta. Beast tosses Reina out of the ring and power slams Tormenta. Reina comes in and attacks Beast.  Beast is thrown from the ring and Tormenta tosses Reina out of the ring. She follows up with a senton from the top turnbuckle to the floor.

All three brawl on the outside. Reina is tossed in. Beast crawls in and Tormenta goes to the top but misses a drop kick. Beast tosses Reina to the outside. Beast power bombs Tormenta and covers for the three count.

Winner and still WOW Champion: The Beast.
