IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-10-20 22:01:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!

We are in Albany, NY with Tom Hanifan and Matt Rehwoldt as your hosts!

Backstage, Ace Austin has been laid out by someone in a parking lot.  Juice Robinson and Chris Bey check on him.  Tommy Dreamer shows up and is told what happened.  The implication is perhaps Bully Ray did it.

Tommy Dreamer & Bully Ray vs. The Bullet Club.

Juice Robinson is replacing Ace Austin.  Dreamer and Bey start out, working over the others' arm.  Bey uses his speed to keep Dreamer off balance but misses a standing moonsault.  Robinson tags in and challenges Ray, who tags in.  Juice stomps away at him in the corner, but Ray came back with a series of chops in the corner.  Ray tagged into Dreamer, who went for the Spicoli Driver on Bey.  Dreamer was sent to the floor, where Juice attacked him and tossed him back into the ring.  Bey stomped away at him and nailed a series of rights.  Bey and Juice tagged in and out, working over Dreamer for a long time.  Dreamer caught Bey with a cutter and made the hot tag to Bully.  Bully cleaned house.  Everyone battled.  Dreamer hut the Cactus clothesline to the outside on Bey.  Robinson nailed a neckbreaker for a two count.  He went to the top but was caught with a sit-down Bully Bomb for the pin.

Your winners, Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray!

After the match, Bully Ray told Bey it wasn't him who took out Austin and apologized to him for taking a cheap shot in the ring because he "got hot in there."

Heath Miller and Rhino are backstage and cut a promo about facing the Kingdom tonight.  They made a promise to each other to win the Tag titles this year and it's happening tonight.  Rhino fought his way back for revenge.  Heath was making their life a living hell and tonight he's going to rip them in half with a gore.

Backstage, Bully Ray is stopped by Tommy Dreamer.  He wants to make sure Bully didn't lay out Ace Austin.  Ray says he didn't.  Dreamer said he had to ask.  Moose shows up and says that if Dreamer had to ask, he doesn't really trust Bully, either.  Dreamer says he and Ray are part of the same dysfunctional family and will always be family, but Moose will always be just a bastard.  Moose said he's a scumbag and if it was him, he'd deny it too.  Dreamer looked back at Bully.  The plot thickens.

Mia Yim vs. Taylor Wilde.

They locked up with Mia backing her into the corner, breaking clean.  They locked up again and this time, Taylor broke the clench clean in the corner.  They went back and forth with a series of hiptosses, armdrags and dropkicks before facing off and showing the other respect.   Taylor nailed a monkey flip out out of the corner and cinched in an armbar.  She worked over Yim's arm.  She missed a spear.

Mia gained control and scored a near fall as they went to commercial.  When they returned, Wilde was being beaten with a series of kicks to the chest.  She was hit with a big delayed vertical suplex for a near fall.  Wilde started to make a comeback but was cut off with a clothesline for a two count.  The crowd chanted for Mia.  Mia nailed a nice gutwrench suplex for a two count.  She tied up Wilde over her knees with a bow and arrow before scoring another two count.  Wilde and Yim battled back and forth with right hands.  Wilde nailed a series of clotheslines and a rana.  She locked on a back submission but Yim escaped and went for Eat Defeat.  They had a series of near falls.  Taylor missed a charge in the corner and was nailed with a boot to the face and a cannonball for a two count.  Yim was hit with a back suplex and pinned.

Your winner, Taylor Wilde!

A good back and forth match.  If that was it for Yim's run, she ended on a good note.

Mickie James came to the ring and took the ring mic.  She said it's good to have Wilde back in Impact.  It's the first time they've ever been in the same locker room at the same time.  She began to challenge Wilde to a match but Gisele Shaw, Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green attacked them.  Jordynne Grace made the save.

Honor No More, without Eddie Edwards, make their strategy for tonight.

Backstage, Mickie and the others challenged Deonna and friends to a six woman tag next week.

Joe Hendry vs. Jason Hotch

Hendry took the mic and said that as good of a talker he is, he's as good of a listener.  He hears everyone and that they believe in Joe Hendry.  It was a good promo.

They locked up and Hendry shoulderblocked him down.  Hotch looked good in selling for Hendry.  Hendry nailed a long hesitation suplex and nailed a press slam into a drop.  Hotch came back with a snapmare into a kick but began talking trash to the camera.  Hendry came from behind and nailed a big chokeslam for the pin.

Your winner, Joe Hendry!

The Flashback Moment for Impact+ was Chris Sabin going back and forth with Bully Ray from 2010.

We see Kazarian walking towards the ring, backstage.

Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian comes to the ring, where Scott D'Amore is waiting.  He hands the belt to Scott.  He will get his title match on 11/18 at Overdrive against Josh Alexander.  A tournament to crown the new champion will commence next week and end at that PPV.

Kazarian says the X-Division and the title means the world to him but the Impact title has eluded him his entire career and he's at the point where he's only left with a few things he hasn't accomplished.  If he doesn't give himself the chance, it will haunt him forever to ask "What if?"  Mackin hit the ring and attacks him but Josh Alexander makes the save.

Backstage, Eddie Edwards arrives and his wife, Alisha questions where he's been.  Before he can explain that, Honor No More shows up.  Eddie tells them all he has a lot to think about.  He said his wife said that something has to give and she's right.  Honor No More questions that and he says that everyone will find out and walks off.

Backstage, Kazarian tells Josh Alexander that if he needed a partner, they would be here.  He's here to prove himself and doesn't want Josh undercutting him.  He will give Josh a piece of advice however - don't ever trust Bully Ray.

Eric Young vs. Rich Swann

EY attacked Swann before the bell and nailed a big wheelbarrow neckbreaker.  He measured and drilled Swann in the corner with a big right hand.  He took out Swann with a running back elbow.  Young nailed a snapmare and went after the trapezius muscle with a nerve hold before locking on a side chinlock.  Swann fought back and nailed a superkick.  He nailed a springboard Lethal Injection and scored the pin.

Your winner, Rich Swann!

A VBD cultist grabs Swann as he exits the ring, leaving him prey for Deaner to attack and is tossed back into the squared circle.   Erc Young and Deaner beat Swann. The lights go off and when they resume, Sami Callihan is in the ring swinging a bat to make the save.  No match, just an angle to set up a future tag team grudge match.

We see Rhino and Heath getting ready backstage.

Backstage, The Major Players are reuniting.  Matt Cardona is cool with Myers being the Digital Media Champion because there's other gold to be won in Impact.

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Kingdom with Maria Kanellis vs. Heath Miller & Rhino.

The challengers had the clear advantage at the onset.  The champs tried to walk out but Rhino and Heath followed and they brawled on the entrance ramp and around ringside.   Rhino brought Bennett into the ring and nailed a big shoulderblock in the corner.  Heath tagged in and nailed a series of rights, keeping Bennett off balance.  The challengers kept working over Bennett.  They nailed a double back elbow on Bennett but Taven caught Rhino from behind with a chopblock.

This allowed the flow of the match to change as the challengers began working over Rhino's knee, which the announcers said was surgically repaired.  Rhino was trapped in their corner with Taven distracting the referee while Bennett ripped at his face.  They maintained their control over Rhino with even Maria interfering as the referee was distracted.  Heath tried to intercede but the referee adominished him.  To make it worse, the champions illegally switched places without tagging.

Taven missed a quebrada, allowing Rhino to make the hot tag to Miller.  He nailed a powerslam on Bennett but Taven broke it up.  Everyone battled and there was a series of close near falls.  Good action.  Taven was crotched on the top.  Vincent and PCO tried to come out but were stopped by the referee.  Maria tried to toss powder but blinded her husband.  Rhino went to gore Taven but he sidestepped and Maria was gored.  Heath hit the Wakeup Call and scored the pin.

Your winners and new Tag Team Champions, Rhino & Heath Miller!

Rhino and Heath celebrate in the crowd.

Eddie Edwards come out and says he has an ultimatum from his wife and sees everything falling apart.  His marriage.  Honor No More.  Everything and he knows who is to blame.    Eddie asked if they were loyal to him.  They all said they were until he got to PCO.  He wants to know it he's loyal, yes or no.  PCO hesistated and that tells him all he needs to know.  PCO gets angry.  Vincent puts a bag over PCO's head.  Eddie said he isn't a monster but a bitch.  Enraged,  PCO rips it off his head and goes bezerk, attacking Vincent, then The Kingdom.  He chokeslammed Vincent through a chair and hit a big dive to the floor on The Kingdom. Kenny King and Eddie escaped.
