WWE returned to Phoenix for Saturday Night's Main Event. My first WWE main roster house show since the invasion. 30 years ago tomorrow I went to my first show.
Only 100 level and floor seats were sold. I think there was about 5,000 fans. That said, A LOT of Bloodline and Roman Reigns shirts in the crowd.
They played Caribbean Queen which I popped for since it sounds similar to Obsession, the original Saturday Night's Main Event theme. They did the pre-recorded Lillian Garcia "National Anthem" right into the theme of Friday Night SmackDown "Are You Ready?"
Madcap Moss took on Happy Corbin in the opener. WHY? Nobody liked the feud when it actually happened. Corbin I don't know if he is hated as a heel or just for existing. Moss won with his neckbreaker slam. The fans were somewhat into it.
Maximum Male Models came out next without Maxine Dupri, I guess she was scouting out the mutants as Mace called the Phoenix crowd. After running down the Phoenix area and the Suns, MMM tried having a five minute pose. Before Edge and Christian could send for a Richard Trifono cease and decease for gimmick infringement, Hit Row ruined it to have a tag team match.
Hit Row won after hitting their standing dropkick back suplex combo. It was a fun contest with four guys that can go, but damn Top Dolla is a beast. He moves pretty good for a guy his size.
Natalya led Shayna Baszler out to face Raquel Rodriguez. Natalya's ring gear was black with yellow. What did she think she was a damn road sign? After a good solid contest of two power females, Rodriguez won with her Tejana Bomb.
Drew McIntyre came out and announced to the Phoenix crowd that he was going to kick Karrion Kross' arse in No DQ match. Guess this replaces the originally announced McIntyre-Sheamus Phoenix Street Fight. After a good back and forth wrestling match with some weapon usage including a Raven Drop Toe Hold onto the chair and a White Russian Legsweep, Drew won after putting Kross through a propped up table and hitting Claymore. It looked like Kross hit the frame of the table when he went through.
After an intermission to clean up the carnage, Imperium and the Brawling Brutes continued their feud as Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci took on Butch and Ridge Holland. After a really good back and forth tag team match, Ridge and Butch win it with a roundhouse kick into the Northern Lights Bomb. Similar to what I said about Top Dolla, Ridge can move for a big man.
Sonya Deville then came out to talk about the beat down Liv Morgan gave her last night. Liv came out to big response. Liv won with her Oblivion springboard flatliner. Liv had a pretty big opening reaction.
And that meant it is time for the main event for this Saturday Night's Main Event. Sami Zayn and the Usos representing The Bloodline taking on The New Day and Braun Strowman. Lots of fun stiche in the main event. Jey Uso wouldn't tag Sami in or when Sami was in, Jey would tag himself in. About half way in the match Sami and Jey had a tag back and forth that caused Jimmy Uso to jump in to break it up. Braun came in like a house of fire. Sami tried using Roman Reigns' Superman Punch and Spear. After successfully hitting the Punch, Sami went for a spear but caught with a Monster Bomb for the 1-2-3.
The main event easily had the most over reactions of the night. That said, Liv Morgan and Drew McIntyre were the most over other than that. Sami Zayn was insanely over tonight.
