10/15 AAW JIM LYNAM MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT NIGHT TWO LIVE REPORT FROM CHICAGO

By Case Lowe on 2022-10-15 23:45:00

JLMT Round Two: Gnarles Garvin vs. Hakim Zane with a big splash. This took awhile to get going but the crowd was into the idea of an upset by the end of it. Big pop for the Garvin win.

JMLT Round Two: Davey Vega def. Masha Slamovich after a schoolboy pin with his feet on the ropes. This was impossibly great. I rarely care for intergender wrestling but when you have someone as tough as Masha with someone weasely as Vega, it works out quite nicely. The crowd was incredibly hot for this. The crowd chanted “Masha!” as she headed to the back.

JMLT Round Two: Fred Yehi def. YAMATO via submission. Easily the best match of the weekend. Yehi is a world class talent that can hang with the likes of a Dragongate wrestler. This was spectacular and worth going out of your way to see.

JMLT Round Two: Josh Alexander and Ace Austin went to a 20 minute time limit draw. Austin’s ankle was destroyed in this match. I’ve been watching Ace Austin grow as a wrestler in this company for years and this may have been his best outing yet. Alexander pleaded for five more minutes, but Austin but him with a low blow and exited.

Russ Jones and Schaff destroyed two jobbers.

Sierra def. Heather Reckless with a Backpack Stunner.

AAW Tag Team Championship Match: Jah-C & Manders retained over Conan Lycan & Solomon Tupu. This was a wild brawl that ended with Schaff running off Chuck Smooth and Manders hitting the Iowa Stampede off the middle rope through four chairs.

Manders, who was attacked by Fred Yehi before his tournament match last night, returned the favor before the semi-finals.

JMLT Semi-Finals: Gnarles Garvin def. Fred Yehi with a giant splash in 17 seconds.

Mike Bennett def. Ace Perry with a piledriver. A Mike Bennett Special.   Bennett asked for a match with Davey Vega, who received a bye to the finals due to the prior time limit draw, but he was beaten and bloodied by Vega’s good squad.

AAW World Heavyweight Championship Match: Jake Something retained his title by pinning Dante Leon in a scramble that also featured Calvin Tankman, Ren Jones, Silas Young, & Zachary Wentz. This was so much better than your average indie scramble. Nonstop move-after-move-after move for 11 minutes. Tankman and Something stole the show.

JMLT Finals: Gnarles Garvin def. Davey Vega via roll up. AAW set out to get Garvin over this weekend and they are on their way to accomplishing that mission. Fine main event.
