THE KINGDOM ARRIVE: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2022-10-14 23:03:00

It is Friday and AEW Rampage is coming from the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Canada. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, Jim Ross, and William Regal

Butcher and Blade vs Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley

All four men attack when the bell rings and it quickly spills to the outside. Mox takes Blade around the ring in a headlock, but Blade is able to drop him crotch first on the barricade. They go into the ring and trade chops and then move to fighting in the corners. Mox brings Blade to his corner for Claudio to tag in and Claudio immediately goes for a leg drop, a pin and a two count. Claudio gets an uppercut, but Blade is able to slam him and bring in Butcher.

Butcher keeps Claudio down with a quick flip and a sliding leg lariat. Claudio then blocks a suplex and hits Butcher with a stalling brain buster. Mox is tagged in and he and Claudio keep Butcher under control with a quick tag. Butcher escapes and tags in Blade so that he and Claudio can trade big blows. Claudio gets a running uppercut in the corner and when he goes for a second, Bunny gets into the ring to get in front of Blade to stop him. We go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Claudio is fighting his way free from Blade, but Blade gets to tag in Butcher first. This allows Butcher to know Mox off the apron, and when Claudio makes it to the corner, no one is there. Butcher sets up the stalling suplex, and Blade drop kicks Claudio from Butcher’s move to the mat. Butcher gets a two count. Butcher pulls Claudio up for a power bomb, but Claudio escapes, and goes to the ropes. Claudio is able to get an uppercut and both men are down.

Mox makes it to the apron, and he tags in as Blade does, so Mox gets to clean house. Adam Page is watching the match backstage since he will be facing Mox on Monday. Mox gets Blade on the top, rakes his back and then hits an avalanche suplex. Next is the death rider and a two count. Mox attacks with a series of boots until Butcher breaks it up. Butcher tags in and they set up for a two man slam, but Claudio comes in and grabs Mox onto his own shoulders. He puts Mox down and it’s all four men in the ring.

Mox and Claudio take them down with stereo clotheslines. They then both stomp Butcher and Blade’s heads in. Mox gets a Death Rider on Blade, Claudio gets the Ricola Bomb on Butcher and covers for the pin.

Winners: Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley

Mox asks Claudio if they care who they get in the ring with and Claudio says no. He asks if they got knocked down if they stay down, and Claudio says not. Mox asks what will happen to Adam Page Tuesday, and Claudio says he’s gonna get stepped on.

Renee is backstage with Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee and she asks what’s next for them. Swerve laughs about how Mark Sterling stole the scissoring from The Acclaimed. Keith Lee says he stuck with Swerve because he thinks Swerve can be good, but his cheating does not represent Ketih Lee. He says Stirckland is swerving into the wrong lane.

Renee is then with Dark Order and asks them how they are dealing with their loss last week. As Alex Reynolds starts to explain, Jose the assistant shows up. Ten says he is sick of this, and that he will face Rush next week, and if he wins, they will leave him alone for good.

The Jericho Appreciation Society comes to the ring. We get a recap of how Daniel Garcial has rejoined the JAS.

2.0 says that the family is back together. Daddy Magic explains that this makes his nipples hard...and we did not need to know that.

Anna Jay A. S. introduces Daniel Garcia. Daniel says that Chris Jericho has always been a superior sports entertainer. Daniel was being rebellious and he thought he wanted to be a wrestler like Bryan Danielson. He then says he will never be a pro wrestler, and when Jericho hit him in the head with the Ring of Honor title, he taught him how to win. He then says sports entertainers beat pro wrestlers every single time.

Jericho says he will beat every single ROH champion who ever existed.

This brings out Dalton Castle and The Boys.

Dalton says he finds Jericho’s speech exhausting, and the boys make a chair for him to sit down. He reminds us he used to be Ring of Honor champion. Dalton says he cares about the letters on the ROH belt. He says he fought with honor and when he sees the title around the waist of a silly little goose.  He broke his back for that title and he’s willing to break Jericho’s back to be a champion they can be proud of.

Dalton’s promo was great.

Chris Jericho says that he gets a title show next week.

Nyla Rose (claiming the AEW TBS Championship) vs Anna Jay A. S.

They lock up and Nyla tosses Anna down. She tries to fight and Nyla drops her with a waistlock. Anna tries to trade blows with Nyla and Rosa is able to body slam her. Nyla hits a leg drop for a two count. Nyla then takes out Anna in the corner and goes for a cannonball, but Anna avoids it. Anna drops an elbow and covers for a two count. Anna then puts a knee on Nyla’s chest and pulls her head up.

Anna gets a series of kicks in the corner and then gets on top of Nyla to choke her on the second rope. 2.0 goes to interfere, but Vickie shows and starts flirting with them, finally snapping the suspenders of Parker.

Anna slams Nyla’s head into the turnbuckle. She keeps up the attacks and covers for a two count. She does the move with her knee onNyla’s chest again, but Nyla is able to escape. Anna gets a series of strikes and kicks and covers again for a two count. Anna tries to whip Nyla into the ropes, but Nyla is able to stop it and pounds Anna to the mat. Nyla tries a leap onto Anna, but Anna gets her knees up.

They work up to their feet with Anna holding onto Nyla, but Nyla hits elbow strikes to get free. Anna is able to hit a version of a DDT with Nyla’s going face first to the mat. This just wakes up Nyle who starts tossing Anna around until she slams her for a two count.  Anna tries a come back, and Nyla is able to hit a drop kick as Anna comes off the ropes. Nyla puts Anna on the ropes.

Nyla goes for the flying knee drop, but Anna dodges it and snaps Nyla on the top rope. Anna then comes off the ropes with a neck breaker and a two count. Kind of surprised they are letting Anna get this much offense.

Anna tries for the Queenslayer, but Nyla shrugs her off.  Anna gets a boot and then leaps into Nyla’s arms. Nyal hits the beast bomb and covers for the trhee count and the win.

Winner: Nyla Rose

After the match, Vicke Guerrero holds up a 1 - 0 sign.

This brings out Jade Cargill and the baddies, but security holds them back.  Jade starts taking out security and as she is talking trash to security, Nyla and Vickie escape up the ramp.

Isaiah Kassidy vs. Ethan Page with Private Party and Matt Hardy’s contracts are on the line

Page drops Kassidy with a pump kick. He then tosses him into the ropes and clotheslines him down. Page picks up Kassidy and tosses him to the mat, and follows up with a shoulder tackle. Page then mocks Matt with his dance. Kassidy is able to get a quick inside cradle for a two count and then follows up with a DDT and a two count.

Ethan goes to the floor and Kassidy hits a tornado tope. He tosses Ethan into the ring and Stokely Hathway stops Kassidy from getting into the ring. Matt shoves Hathaway and Kassidy gets into the ring and is taken down by Ethan. Ethen then hits a twist of fate. He hits the Ego’s Edge and covers for the three count.

Winner: Ethan Page

Now Private Party has to stay with The Firm, and Matt Hardy has to work for them as well.

We get a promo from Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends.

Mark Henry interviews the two teams in the main event. FTR says this will be a fight and they never back down from a fight. The Embassy might be forever, but the Pinnacle is always on top.

The Embassy (Brian Cage, Kuan, and Toa Liona) vs. FTR and Shawn Spears

Spears is calling himself the Perfect 10 again.

Spears starts off with Cage and he carries them to hsi corner. Kaun tags in and the face off. They lock up and go to a series of wrist locks and arms bars. Spears gets a headlock suplex and tags in Cash Wheelers. Cash hits a shoulder block and s uplex for a two count. Kaun is able to give Cash a backdrop to tag in Toa. Toa whips Cash to the corner, but Cash is able to stop his charge and hit a series of kicks and a bulldog so that he can tag in Spears.

Spears tries to chop Toa, who ignores it and hits a head butt on Spears. Toa tags in Kaun. Kaun whips Spears to the corner, who comes out with a shoulder block. Spears gets tean blows on Kaun in the corner, also knocking down Brain Cage. Toa tries for a clothesline, but misses and Spears knocks him to the floor. Spears then leaps onto both Toa and Cage on the floor.

Prince Nana gets on the apron to distract the ref, so that Toa and Cage can slam Spears’s back into the apron, which I hear is the hardest part of the ring. Spears is tossed into the ring and Kuan tags in Toa. He keeps Spears down with a kick and then works him over in the corner. Cage is then tagged in and he keeps up the pressure. Cage ends the sequence with a suplex and a two count.

Cage locks on a headlock and Spears works to his feet and uses strikes to get free. Cage cuts him off with a back elbow and tags in Kaun and whovers for a two count. Kaun keeps Spears from tagging out. Spears fights to his corner, but Kaun takes him back to the Embassy corner. Spears is put on the top turnbuckle and dropped to the apron with a back breaker, and Toa drops onto him.

Spears is brought into the ring with a suplex and is covered for a two count. Cage calls for the end and Spears turns his move into a DDT.  Cage tags in Kaun, who cuts Spears off from tagging out. Spears is able to kick free and tag in Dax.

Dax cleans house and is cut off by Cage with a discus lariat. Kaun covers for two. Cage tags in and hits a flying elbow for a two count broken up by Spears. Toa comes in and is dumped over the top by Spears. Cage is able to hit the F5 on Spears.

Spears rolls out and Cage tags in Kuan. They go to give Dax and two man Suplex, but Cash comes in and catches him.  They take down Cage and Kaun and locks them in SharpShooters.  Prince Nana gets on the apron, and Spears drags him into the ring and locks the Sharpshooter on him as well.  Toa break it all up.

Dax is given a side slam by Toa. Kaun rolls out to charge Dax, who is pulled out of the way and Kaun hits the steel steps. Spears hits a DDT on Cage.  Toa is left in the ring and he is able to get a pin on Dax, and he grabs the ropes.  Cash knocks his hands off the ropes to break it up. Cash taunts him and that allows FTR to shoot Toa into the ropes for the Big Rig.  Spears is tagged in and hits the C4 and covers for the three count and the win.

Winners: FTR and Shawn Spears

Fantastic match, and every one was impressive from the bell. Gates of Agony have shown they can work a great match.

After the match, we hear the music for The Kingdom.  Matt Taven and Mike Bennett come out with Maria Kanelis Bennett.  She introduces The Kingdom and says that FTR says they are top guys, but they have never faced the Kingdom, and they held the ROH and IWGP tag team titles first.

The Embassy attacks FTR and Shawn Spears from behind and the Kingdom join in with the beat down. When all hope is lost, it’s time for Wardlow and Samoa Joe to come out and even the odds.

The Embassy and the Kingdom scatter and we’re desperately out of time!
