Wrestling Open Week 41

10/13/22 Worcester, MA

Streaming on IWTV.live

It’s Thursday! It’s week 41! I am barely upright after a pretty long week but I made sure I could be in Worcester for Wrestling Open! It’s Spotlight time!

Spotlight Match: Mortar & TJ Crawford vs The Haven (Shawn Knyte & Jay Onyx (w/ Dustin Waller)

Awesome to see the Haven back in full form this week as well as the return of both TJC and Morrrrrrrrrtarrrrrrrrrr. There’s already dissent between TJC and Mortar, as Crawford demands Mortar start the match and immediately tags himself back in. TJC will not stop talking and yelling and taunting…but the Haven just focuses on beating his a**. TJC is flustered and tags Mortar in to deal with his problems but the big man isn’t faring much better…until he just overpowers Haven, blasts Knyte off the apron and a huge fallaway slam puts Onyx down for two. TJC with a pop up knee. The crowd calling his offense weak but Crawford is just firing up on it. Mortar with a discus clothesline…Onyx fights out of the corner….Mortar planted with a ddt! Tag to Knyte! Snap German to TJC! Corner dropkick, slingshot back elbow! Knyte with a northern lights but Mortar is back in and pummels the pin apart. Onyx clears Mortar to the floor and puts a pin in him with a superkick. TJC comes running In, taken out by a double cutter/flatliner combo! Sick finish and a really entertaining spotlight!

Winners The Haven

And we’re live on IWTV! Rich Palladino is your announcer! Paul Crockett & Denver Colorado are on commentary! We have another double main event this week?!? Let’s goooooooooo!

Match 1: Brother Greatness vs Bryce Donovan

Worcester hopes for a miracle tonight so they gave the Church some loaves and fishes…and a BABY, I guess? BG says Bryce needs to REPENT for calling himself an Angel. Bryce takes a knee and tries a rollup. BG with a hard chop and Bryce is done playin. Brother doesn’t want to be shook and goes to the eyes. Greatness trying to get his catchphrase in. He goes for an old school…”see if you focus on god, you’ll be alright” as he flies into a high angle chokeslam. The holy man getting yeeted around the ring. Ripcord black hole slam! Kick out! Greatness escapes the anaconda Vise! Slingshot into a codebreaker! Bryce kicks out! Love Doug’s theme hits as Greatness ascends the top rope…complete distraction, Bryce tosses him from the top…reverse facebuster for the win!

Winner: Bryce Donovan

Brother Greatness is irate. Lust is the deadliest sin and he will be damned to hell! Love Doug is here! He smooches BG on the top of his holy head. Rebound flying lariat and Greatness is outta there, leaving the Wrestling Open’s embodiment of Lust standing tall!

Match 2: “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams vs “The Heart Break Core” Shazza McKenzie

Shazza tries to take the arm early but Sauce just takes her right down in an arm bar. Shazza tries again, Sauce takes the arm again but Shazza outta there. Sauce is getting frustrated and laying in some harder shots. He tries to twist her neck off. Shazza gets a few kicks in, Sauce takes the leg and kicks her head off. He tries an apron ddt, Shazza rams him into the post! Kicks from above! Dive to the floor, crossbody from the heavens! Kick out! Sauce hits a gutwrench powerbomb! Shazza kicks out! She avoids the buckle ddt! German for two! Shazza tries to finish it with a neckbreaker but Tracy hits a DVD. He thinks it’s over but Shazza kicks out! He shocked but quickly turns around and submits her with a crossface for the win! This was a slow burner but built to a nice little frenzy at the end.

Winner: Tracy Williams

A moment after Hot Sauce exits and Shazza takes in the crowd’s appreciation…The TENDER WEAPON is out here to clap for Shazza?!? Brother Greatness runs in with the collection basket and takes TW out! He broke the handle of the basket! Shazza runs him off But it’s clear that Greatness is hating on all things love.

Match 3: “Dream Crusher” Danny Miles vs “The Bulldog” Ray Pittman

Miles trying to be aggressive but Pittman is handling him well early. Miles grabs a deep headlock, hard shoulder tackle. Miles just unloading on Pittman hard. Pittman eats big shot after big shot but he won’t lay down. Firing up! Cutter! Jumping bulldog for two! Pittman escapes a gutbuster but Miles hits a codebreaker and cannonball. Worlds Strongest Slam! Pittman stays down this time as Miles says this was FOR THE RANCH.

Winner: Danny Miles

Ah, it’s Ray Jaz time. Sigh.

Oh God, they gave him a specialty graphic?!? Nooooooo!!!

Match 4: Ray Jaz vs “The Psychedelic Warrior” Dave Cole

I think Jaz’s long winded tip of the day involved Dan Barry (but you know, too busy BOOOOOOOOOOING) but he has a returning Dave Cole in front of him! Big Welcome home chant for Cole. Jaz is getting frustrated with all the love NOT for him but Cole shotguns him into the buckles. Cole tries an up and over ddt but Jaz just throws him out of it. The crowd is ALL OVER JAZ which gives Cole a chance to hit a reversal out of the corner. Jaz with a spinning heel kick takes control right back. Cole with a jaw jacker! Uo and over ddt! Jaz kicks out at the last moment! Cole applies a crossface! It’s deep! Jaz trying to reverse it…Cole has him in a triangle…Jaz lifts Cole and hits a deadlift cradle bomb for the win! You know Jaz would take this but Cole had a good showing here in one of his rare MA appearances.

Winner: Ray Jaz

Match 5: Steven Stetson vs Megabyte Ronnie

Ronnie’s in incredible shape despite being a competitive eater. The crowd reminds Stetson that he has little luck with the ladies as Ronnie starts tossing him around. He tries a razors edge but Stetson escapes and throws Ronnie to the floor. Stetson starting his flurry of big moves as the crowd just unloads chants on him. Ronnie gets slammed around, backbreaker, seated back senton. Stetson working the midsection in the corner but manages to post himself! Hard clotheslines! Belly to belly suplex! Ronnie hits a razors edge! Stetson gets out! Stetson with a dodge, shoves to the ropes, northern lariat! Another W for the ranch.

Winner: Steven Stetson

Match 6: Fancy Ryan Clancy vs “The Timeless One” Crowbar

Is…is Clancy ready for this? His ribs are STILL taped up from his beatings over the recent weeks. Crowbar notices and drives his shoulder into that midsection at his earliest opportunity. Elbow drops continue to soften Clancy up. Clancy with a reversal, Crowbar sent to the floor and eats a lair of swinging boots! Headscissor takedown! Crowbar gets the ropes! Crowbar reverses a suplex and drops Fancy ribs first into the top rope. Ow. Clancy getting smashes into the apron repeatedly, the ref out here to check on him. The ref lets it continue but Crowbar just suplexes Clancy right back into the ring. Hard knee to the ground to the ribs, Crowbar is focused on taking this kid apart. Clancy firing back but Crowbar catches him with a northern lights for two! Clancy fights off a straight jacket! Throwing uppercuts! Body slam! Senton but he did damage to himself! Crowbar with a pop up into a powerbomb! Transition to a surfboard stretch! We have only a minute left! Apron legdrop! Crowbar tries the dragon sleeper! Reversal to a jackknife! Clancy puts on the brakes, Crowbar caught on a mistimed up and over…Clancy hits a side Russian leg sweep! Crowbar is down for the three at 9:58!!! Loved this. what a match!

Winner: Ryan Clancy

Match 7: Pedro Dones & Mane Event (Jay Lyon & Midas Black) vs Johnny Santos and Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn)

Midas doesn’t like fun anymore so he wants nothing to do with Traevon’s dance magic. That was a mistake as W&C decide to take this match as serious as a heart attack. The team captains get in there and mane Event starts to show the kind of ruthlessness they’ve learned under Dones’ coaching. W&C catch them sleeping though, 3D to Dones! Lyon cuts off the pin! W&C double dive to Mane Event! Santos looks to join them but Dones tackles the leg! La Magistral cradle! Santos is caught for the three as Mane Event keeps his partners at bay.

Winners: Dones & Mane Event

Main Event 1: JP Grayson (w/ Alex Cypher) vs “The Prize” Alec Price

I see the Graysons are sticking with the man with Diamond hands for now? A little surprised that we’ve set this as a main event…but maybe this will do for Grayson what the very first Open Main Event did for Love Doug. As it stands, Price likely has Bakabella and his recent association with the Graysons on his mind. JP Grayson seems to forget Price is the ace of this place and gets controlled through multiple hammer locks. Price punks him out! Head scissor! JP tosses Price off the top! Head scissor roll up from Price! Kickout! Price gutted on the top rope! Hangman’s butterfly suplex for two! Price tossed to the floor. Cypher grabs a chair and JP starts to beat him in there…Price with the reversal…JP eats the chair hard! Round the world flying boot bends the chair back! JP able to hit a gory bomb as they fight back into the ring but he’s not capitalizing! He tries a killswitch….Price out! Slingshot cutter! Corkscrew sliced bread! Cypher looks distraught as Price starts landing his knees, JP grabs the  hair…facebuster! Flying kick! Kick out! Spinning killswitch connects! Price is looking hurt as Cypher goes to distract the ref…JP has a giant Diamond he’s going to blast Price with?!? price ducks, superkick! The gem goes flying! Suprize kick! Price takes it!

Winner: Alec Price

Price gets the mic. He knows that his name has been all over the mouths of Sidney Bakabella and Channing Thomas. He comes to Worcester, they don’t. How bout that. But next week, they better show up…or shut up.

Main Event 2: “The Dimepiece” Aaron Rourke vs “Your Mom” Bobby Orlando (w/ Bobby Jr)

Orlando has some unsettled business with his former stablemate Rourke. Some early clean and clean-adjacent breaks but Orlando sends Rourke to the floor quickly. Rourke back into but Bobby sends him flying again and puts a suicide dive on top for good measure. Bobby goes for a somersault out of the corner but lands bad and clutches his leg. Uh oh…this is shades of Rourke’s last match with Ryan Clancy. The ref is holding Rourke back but the Dimepiece helps him up…to immediately drop him and stomp him out. Rourke taunting with short kicks to that leg. Meteora! Flip to a truly insulting slap! Bobby has had enough and fires back! Rourke trips him up on the apron! Shotgun drop kick! Rourke is upset that Orlando left him behind? Sick trick cutter! Trading chops from the knees! Both exhausted but Bobby blasts a lariat! Bobby tries a fireman’s carry but his knee won’t take it! Cross body connects but Rourke kicks out. Rourke dodges a moonsault! Dimepiece destroyer! Kick out! Rourke misses a 450…he tries a sick trick…Bobby catches him! Blu Ray!!! Rourke won’t stay down either! Rourke distracts the ref and gets a back kick low blow on Orlando. He throws on a figure eight…the crowd begs Bobby not to tap but the pain is too much for our mom and he taps out.

Winner: Aaron Rourke

Rourke trying to do more damage but Bryce Donovan is right in for the save. He says they’ve been growing and changing every week for the last year but Rourke is the same. He wants to mess with our mom? Well, Daddy’s Home says Bryce.

And that’s it for a wild Week 41! A lot of good showings tonight and story movement. It was great to see Love Doug getting physical again after his injury. It was great to see Dave Cole and Shazza returning to Worcester. Clancy and Crowbar put on an epic that wasn’t even a main event, which were also good times! The live experience of Wrestling Open is an exceptionally good time. Meanwhile, at the Brother Greatness merch table, someone tried to donate that baby again… lol.
