10/10/2022 Results from New Japan's Declaration of Power From Ryogoku Kokugikan, Japan:
1. Ren Narita, Robbie Eagles and David Finlay vs. DOUKI, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado
Narita pins DOUKI with an overhead belly to belly suplex with a bridge.
Narita gets the mic and said he plans on making an impact in New Japan.
2. Shane Haste and Bad Dude Tito vs. Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr.
ZSJ pins Tito with a Euro Clutch.
3. Ryusuke Taguchi, Hikuleo, and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo
Yujiro tried to encourage Hikuleo to return back to Bullet Club. Hikuleo hammers all members of House of Torture.
SHO smashes Taguchi in the face with his wrench. SHO tries for a Shock Arrow.
Hikuleo hits a choke slam on SHO and throws Taguchi on SHO.
Taguchi pins SHO.
Taguchi, Hikuleo and Tanahashi now have a claim to be the number one contenders to House of Torture's NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team Championship.
4. Great O-Khan and Jeff Cobb, with Gideon Grey vs. Hiroki Goto and YOSHI- HASHI
Cobb pins YOSHI-HASHI after big Tour of the Islands.
Cobb and O-Khan have now defeated Chase Owens/Bad Luck Fale and YOSHI-HASHI/Goto, which puts them closer to be the number one contenders for FTR's IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.
Cobb calls out FTR to Kevin Kelly on English commentary.
5. BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Francesco Akira, TJP, Aaron Henare and Will Ospreay, with Gideon Grey
During the match, a man dressed in a black suit and a black mask jumped in the ring. He attacked Akira and TJP. His interference set up BUSHI to hit an MX on Akira.
BUSHI pins Akira.
After the match, Ospreay taunts Naito with the IWGP U.S. belt. Naito grabs it and tosses it to the mat which angers Ospreay.
The man in black drifts around ringside till United Empire leaves ringside. The man in black asks for a mic. He removes his mask and it is Titan, from CMLL. Naito, BUSHI, SANADA and Hiromu all stare at him. Titan says hello to the crowd. He tells everyone that he is joining Los Ingobernales de Japon. Naito and company have a discussion in the ring. They all do the LIJ fistbump salute. Titan comes in and joins them in the group. LIJ has a new member.
Lots to unpack here. Ospreay and Naito will continue to feud over the U.S. Title. Naito will continue to tease Ospreay and get him annoyed. They could meet at Wrestle Kingdom for the belt. BUSHI pinning Akira gives BUSHI and Hiromu a possible title match at the IWGP Jr. Tag Titles. It was announced that World Tag League and Jr. World Tag League will begin on November 21. Titan could team with either BUSHI or Hiromu or bring in another CMLL talent into New Japan. Since Japan is opening back up, New Japan will now continue to bring in talents from all over the world. Good stuff to come in New Japan.
After the intermission, they return to the ring with a table covered in a red cloth. New Japan officials announce that they are creating a IWGP World Television Title. Title defenses will be a 15 minute time limit. They want the matches for the title to be quick paced. Also, they want to give younger wrestlers a chance to compete for the title. There will be tournament to decide the first champion very soon. They also said the title matches for this belt will be free on New Japan World. They unveiled the big Title Belt to the crowd. They said the tournament will begin on October 14. They will crown the first IWGP World Television Champion at Wrestle Kingdom.
I have mixed feelings on this title. New Japan has too many titles. I like the idea, but it is more of title for Japanese wrestlers because th
6 - Master Wato vs. Taiji Ishimori
KUSHIDA was unable to compete and Wato is the substitute.
Wato blocked a Cipher Utaki and hit a Half and Half.
Wato pins Ishimori.
WOW! Wato just elevated himself into the Jr. Heavyweight Title picture ahead of KUSHIDA. Really good match. Wato took a beating especially on his arm as Ishimori was trying to rip out his shoulder, but showed his "fighting spirit" to win the match.
Wato took the mic to address the crowd. Hiromu Takahashi runs to the ring to take the mic away. El Desperado comes to the ring and pokes Hiromu in the eye and takes the mic. Desperado talks trash to Wato saying no one expected him to win. Wato gets in Desperado's face. Ishimori grabs his belt to go back to the locker room. Desperado talks more trash at Ishimori, till he turns around and comes back to the ring. Ishimori offers a 4-way Title Match and he takes his belt to go back to the locker, leaving the other three arguing in the ring.
7 - KOPW 2022: Who's Your Daddy Match - El Phantasmo vs. Shingo Takagi
Good match. Both men exchanged finishing moves. ELP hits Thunderkiss 86. Then a CR2. Takagi kicks out. Takagi hits Made in Japan, a Sudden Death and CR3. ELP kicks out. Takagi traps ELP in an Octopus Lock.
ELP taps out.
Shingo Takagi retains the KOPW 2022 Trophy.
Takagi grabs the mic and demands that ELP say the words. ELP fakes him out with a sore throat. Takagi demands that he says it to the world. ELP says that "Shingo is his Daddy" in both Japanese and English. Takagi makes him put on a "Shingo is your Daddy" shirt and puts a pacifier in his mouth and they pose for a photo. ELP asks for a hug from Shingo. They hug in the ring. ELP drops to his knees and punches Takagi in the crotch. ELP stomps and shatters the KOPW trophy. ELP laughs as he leaves the ring.
Good match, with both great wrestling and fun comedy. El Phantasmo has demonstrated that he can perform at the heavyweight level.
8 - JONAH vs. Kazuchika Okada
JONAH beat Okada all over the ring, but Okada kept fighting back. JONAH hit a power bomb on Okada. JONAH misses a Torpedo. Okada hits a dropkick and picked up JONAH for a landslide. Okada hits a Rainmaker.
Okada pins JONAH.
JONAH suffers his first pinfall loss in New Japan.
Both men shake hands after the match to a big applause.
9 - IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Tama Tonga, with Jado vs. Jay White, with Gedo
This was a back and forth battle. Tons of near falls. Both men kick out each other's finishers. Tama goes for a Gun Stun. White pushes him off and Tama climbs the ropes for a second rope Gun Stun. White blocks it and hits a Bladerunner.
White pins Tama.
Jay White retains the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Jay White takes the mic and tells Tama that he wants to thank him. He tells Tama that he learned how lead to become the World Champion. He said Tama deserved this, as he held up the title. But he said life is not fair. Any other time, Tama could have been the World Champion, and he embodies what a Champion is for this company. But it is not any other time. He said that it is my time. He says all his catch phrases until Kazuchika Okada comes ringside.
Okada takes the mic and he pays tribute to Antonio Inoki. He tells Jay White the question is who will lead New Japan into the next 50 years. Okada declares he will challenge White for the IWGP World Title at Wrestle Kingdom.
Jay White takes the mic back and says everyone must breathe with the Switchblade because it is still his Era.
A Wrestle Kingdom press conference will be held tomorrow on October 11, 2022.
