THE WWE EXTREME RULES TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2022-10-08 01:25:00

WWE will present their 2022 Extreme Rules event at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA on 10/8.  Here's our take on what will happen on the show.

WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey - Extreme Rules.

Dave: This is the second PLE in a row that I am really looking forward to.  Man, it's great to be pysched to see the shows! Vince got the build for Liv off to such a bad start that HHH has had to play serious catch up.  Had Vince not booked her so badly, I could maybe see Ronda winning here but that just shouldn't happen.  If Liv can get a legit win on Ronda, we will see how far she can be pushed as a top woman.  If she loses to Ronda here, unless they have a great idea for it, she takes a step back.

Mike: If this is where they finally turn Ronda because she snaps and beats the hell out of Liv, they should switch the title.  If they aren't going that route, it's time for Liv to get a definitive win.  Having all the weapons and brawling can help that.

Richard:  They tried their best to rebuild Liv after that horrible finish at SummerSlam.  She has shown a lot of intensity, especially in her match against Lacey.  IamsoexcitedthatRondahasachancetowinatitlesowecanhearherpromoseveryweekwhereshedoesnotpausebetweenwords.  The stipulation should signal that we get a new champion.  However, if the return of Charlotte is not imminent, maybe Liv does retain.

WWE Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair vs. Bayley - Ladder Match.

Dave: I think this should be the main event.  Bianca's Raw promo was the best one I have ever seen her do because she was just real in it.  I loved it.  Bayley is a pro and her role here is to put up a great fight but lose, then ignore it or make excuses about it on Raw on Monday.

Mike: I am with Dave that this should be closing the show.  Bianca continues to get better and better and Bayley's work is always great.  This can be something special.  Bianca should go over, especially if they really are going to head to her against Charlotte.

Richard:  I don't know if the presence of the Bayley Bunch and the Fresh Princesses of Belair are a good thing or not.  If it means that Bayley doesn't have to take a crazy bump off the ladder to test her surgically repaired knee then I am okay with it.  If it becomes the story of the match and takes away from the one on one situation, then I have problems with it.   I would have said that you have to give the title to Bayley, but it feels like the buzz behind Bayley has calmed down a little bit.  Do you have Bianca retain to set up the Women's War Games match?  Do you have this rematched in Saudi Arabia?   Does the newly pissed off Alexa turn on Bianca?  Bianca retains.

Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins Inside The Fight Pit with UFC star Daniel Cormier as the guest referee.

Dave: Riddle needs to get the win here as he has lost so far.  Inside HIS pit, he should come out on top unless they have Cormier screw him somehow.

Mike: Dave is reading my brain.  There's zero reason for Riddle to lose here, especially since the story has been that he hasn't been able to truly, definitively take Rollins down.  In my brain, this should be the first match on the card.   My feeling is this is a backdoor way to get Cormier's feet wet and see if he fits into the WWE world.

Richard:  This should be a good fight and I would have Riddle win this, but you have Rollins wrestling for the IC title on Monday night (or does Rollins lose and suffer an injury and then you put Riddle in Rollins' spot and let Riddle beat Bobby and set up Riddle/Rollins However Many They Have Had Plus 1.  Riddle has the advantage and I don't think Seth will be able to cackle out of this one.

Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross  - Strap Match.

Dave: I have Kross go over here.  It's his first big match in WWE (the time in the bad outfit did nothing).  He goes over here but the feud is only just beginning.

Mike: Drew has to put over Kross in order to establish him and give him something to chase and avenge.  My guess is we have Scarlett get involved to set up the finish.

Richard:  DO NOT DO THE TOUCH THE TURNBUCKLES CONSECUTIVELY STIP BECAUSE IT NEVER WORKS.   Let these two men beat the hell out of each other and make sure that Karrion has nowhere to run when he pisses off Drew.  Even though I don't want to see this result, I think you need to have Karrion go over or else he is DOA as a character (unless he is going to be saved by a White Rabbit).  Please have Kross go back to bald, I can't take him seriously with the hair.  I think he is Crimson half the time.

Edge vs. Finn Balor - I Quit Match.

Dave: I put Balor over here.  Judgment Day has talked a lot, and lost a lot.  They could do it so Edge doesn't give up but passes out and the ref gives up for him.

Mike: Balor NEEDS a big win here.

Richard:   Balor should win but every time I think they should win, we see THE Judgment Day lose and look like goofs.  If this match is going to go for a while, I hope we get some very entertaining stuff from Rhea and her Gimp.  Do they tease Beth to set up what Andrew suggested as a THE Judgment Day vs Rey/Edge/AJ/Beth match at War Games?

The Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium - Old Fashioned Donnybrook.

Dave: I remember Mr. T in Rocky 3 when he was asked for a prediction for his fight with Rocky and he had a one word answer: PAIN!  That's what I expect here.  I am typing this before Smackdown so I am not sure what will happen there, but my guess is some kind of out of control brawl so that Sheamus doesn't have to do the job and it leads into the PPV match.  Unless Sheamus wins on Smackdown, the Brutes should go over here to even things up a bit.  This should be nuts.

Mike: I just want them to have 30 minutes to go and let loose.  As far as who should win, Team Sheamus shouldn't be losing the Donnybrook!

Richard:  It feels strange that this is the night after Sheamus and Gunther beat the hell out of each other on the SEASON PREMIERE of Smackdown for the IC Title.  I hope that means the stars of this match will be Butch, Ridge, Vinci, and Kaiser with Gunther and Sheamus making cameos to hurt others.  I really would love to see this as the main event but what if this opens the show?  Whichever team wins this match, the tag team component should be the next challengers for The Usos and the tag titles.   This will be fun to watch and not fun for the participants.  I put the Brutes over since I think Sheamus loses on Smackdown.
