RAPPER COOLIO PASSES AWAY, HIT SONGS WERE BASIS FOR MULTIPLE ECW VIDEOS

By Mike Johnson on 2022-09-29 12:11:00

It was reported yesterday that Coolio, one of the most popular rappers of the 1990s passed away unexpectedly yesterday at the age of 59 after being found unconscious.

While the Grammy Award winning musician never officially appeared in a professional wrestling setting, his work absolutely influenced the 1990s wrestling scene, specifically in the original Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Coolio's Fantastic Voyage was used as the basis of a 1994 music video on ECW TV that helped shape and promote The Public Enemy when they were one of the top acts for the promotion:

ECW named their September 1995 event Gangstas Paradise after the Coolio song of the same name, with the song providing the sountrack for this commercial, which played endlessly on ECW TV for years:

Coolio also competed against and defeated former WWF star Chyna on a celebrity edition of NBC's Fear Factor:

Everyone at PWInsider.com sends our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Coolio.
