Wrestling Open Week 34

8/25/22 - Worcester, MA

Streaming on IWTV.live

The email for tonight’s Wrestling Open simply stated “Sidney Bakabella has a match tonight”. There’s certainly other stuff happening tonight, such as Channing Thomas getting his comeuppance from Bobby Orlando!

Spotlight Match: Yusefer L vs Colton Charles

An all American vs a literal Barbarian. L is the guy from a few weeks back with that terrifying demon duck call. Colton showing his power early, big slams, a senton and an elbow drop for two. Yusefer out with a big splash, Samoan drop for two. Yusefer is feeling confident, Colton with the dodge! Heavy clotheslines! Colton with a belly to belly powerslam but it’s not enough. Double chop to the throat from Yusefer and he comes running, Colton catches him with a tour of the islands to end this opener.

Winner: Colton Charles

And we’re live on IWTV! Rich Palladino is your announcer! Paul Crockett owns the commentary station solo tonight. Sidney Bakabella has a match tonight. Hahahahahahahahe’sgonnapeehimselfagainhahahahaha Let’s goooooo!!!

Match 1: Wild Dogs (Ray Pittman & Johnny Rivera) vs The Mane Event (Midas Black & Jay Lyon)

Mane Event has had a rough streak as of late and you have to think Wild Dogs are being set up as a reset match for the circus boys. Mane Event charges right in at the bell and unloads on Johnny. Big exploder from Lyon for two. Midas and Lyon are SUPER aggressive, unloading kicks and hitting a turbo version of their leapfrog splash. Lyon with a step up moonsault and Pittman has to make the save. This is a new attitude in Mane event for sure. No hat spots, no Lion ring, no gimmicks, they are here to fight. Rivera catches Midas in a powerslam and gets the tag to the Bulldog. Unloading the clip on Lyon, Midas makes the save. Corner spears to Midas as Rivera tries to make it back in. Lyon takes out Pittman from behind and hit a Grand Finale to close out this reintroduction. Really dug this.

Winner: Mane Event

So yeah, it was my birthday and I got a shout out and that was lovely and I love you Wrestling Open but clearly someone also hates me because Ray F***ing Jaz was the next human out the curtain. Argggggggggh!

Match 2: Ray Jaz vs “The Hype Beast” Ben Ruten

Jaz reminds us that he is undefeated at Wrestling Open, but he’s still a piece of s***, sez the crowd….and me. Ruten’s entrance attire is like The Fiend by way of ICP. He has a good up and over dodge but Jaz just starts ripping this guy apart, just to spite us. Ruten with a shotgun into the corner and fires up hard….and runs into a Jaz back elbow. Big slam and a near fall by Ruten!!! This was really close. Is Jaz tired? No, he’s lying in wait, picks the legs and taps Ruten out with the Jazmission.

Winner: Ray Jaz…of course. Of….course….

Steven Stetson is out here and on the mic. He’s so proud that he cost Tyree Taylor his match at No Respect. Of course, he’s not fighting Tyree tonight. Of course not.

Match 3: Steven Stetson vs “The Punjabi Lion” Jora Johl

Welcome back, Jora Johl! Stetson trying to pose and Johl just makes him eat a hard boot and suplex. The crowd lays their hatred of Stetson on the table as Johl unloads on him. Double stomp! A mistimed ref in the corner, Stetson chops the throat and lands a big boot to take charge. Huge body slam and the crowd does not like that. Backbreaker. Kick out! Johl throwing hands, firing up…piledriver into Neckbreaker! Doesn’t get all of it and Stetson is out. Johl with a superkick, Stetson fights out of a suplex, stuns Johl and blasts a northern lariat for the pin.

Winner: Steven Stetson

Rich Palladino brings out Miracle Generation, fresh off their Saturn and Kronus Eliminator Cup Tournment win at No Respect! The crowd agrees they deserve these accolades. Rich has breaking news for them: Effective immediately, the S&K Trophy will be defended as tag team championships. The Miracle Generation are tag team champs at Wrestling Open!!! It’s a surprise to them, but they are the first champs at open! They encourage other teams to step up to the plate. The Mane Event is out here. They genuinely congratulate Miracle Generation…but they feel a rematch between them might give different results. Rich Palladino says the championships has one other stipulation. A team needs to win TWO matches in a row to be up for a title shot. Mane Event has one. Can they make it two next week? Miracle says if they do, they get the first shot! This was a really cool surprise!

Match 4: The Church of Greatness (Brother Greatness, Steve Azure, Steve Somerset & Anastasia Morningstar) vs Johnny Santos, Clara Carraras and the Hispanic Mechanics (Jos A & Jos B)

Did the Church of Greatness get a bunch of tiny condoms thrown in their basket tonight? Yes. Worcester is great. BG is just EXASPERATED by all this foolishness. The Mechanics do the Macarena. The Even Stevens do it too and hit a big kick…and get backdropped as Greatness thinks everything is going well. It’s not. Double wheelbarrow splash for two! Morningstar has seen enough, grabs Clara and BLASTS her with a lariat. Morningstar does a little dance to mock her opponents as she goes to slam Carraras. The Even Stevens prove they can do that wheelbarrow splash too. This is prime goofiness.  Greatness tries to preach but Clara stops that immediately. Clara rana’s the Steve’s into a spear! Santos in! Sling blade ddt combo! Morningstar waits for Santos to turn and hits a swinging flatliner! Clara with a code red on Morningstar! Greatness stops that and eats a magic killer for his trouble. Jos B left alone and the Stevens finally hit Steven Flow to get the win! This was awesome.

Winners: Church of Greatness

Match 5: Jarrett Diaz vs “The Prize” Alec Price

Diaz is wearing those Yankees pinstripes. Not in this house, kehd. Spurred on by the Gahbidge, Price is here to make an example out of him. Price with the springboard, Diaz catches him out of the air with a powerbomb! Price trying to fly out but gets caught with a superkick on the apron. Hard chop to our Ace. Price starched with a roaring elbow. Price escaping a reverse ddt, this is the most on the defense he’s been in a while. He finally drops Diaz in the corner for the the knees and trash kick! Teardrop suplex! Diaz kicks out after a brutal landing! Diaz dodges the snake eyes in the corner but price is back with the block bustah….Diaz right back with a suplex! Price reverses the ddt again. A MACK 10! Stick Up Snake Eyes to the corner and Diaz goes to sleep.

Winner: Alec Price

Match 6: Randy Rivera (w/ Armani Kayos) vs Landon Hale

The good doctor is back in Worcester! People are stoked for Hale but Rivera is here to play the spoiler! Hale catches him with a high cross body. Head scissor toss, the crowd is all over Rivera as Hake takes a beating. Snap powerslam for two. Hale chopping but Rivera hits a rolling facebuster for another near fall. Harrrrrd chop from Randy. Backstabber from Hale! He’s lighting it up! Handspring stunner! German! Randy is staggered. Hale calls for Lights Out…Rivera fights it off. Kayos grabs the leg and distracts Hale. Rivera gets him from behind and blasts a Blue Thunder Bomb for the win!

Winner: Randy Rivera

Rivera continues the beatdown until Gal Barkay comes out here to stare down his old tag partner. Rivera asks if he wants to help? Gal wants nothing to do with that but it gives Hale the time he needs to recover and run Rivera and Kayos off!

Sidney Bakabella is out here for his match with Bryce Donovan…the crowd throws about 112 diapers at Bakabella. And he is so upset that he calls the match off and tries to leave. Donovan is still planning to beat up Sidney though and catches him behind the curtain.

Match 7: Sidney Bakabella vs Bryce Donovan

Bryce drags sidney out for his beating, which goes through the crowd. He’s lost his wig! Sidney Bakabella is BALD?!?!?! Bryce offering free chops on Sidney to various crowd members. Even Rich Palladino gets a shot in. Bryce brings him in but Bakabella kicks the rope just before the bell rings. Roll up! Bryce almost loses?!?! He tries an iron claw..Bryce just blasts him with a black hole slam! Bryce pulls the pin at two! He puts on an anaconda Vice but won’t let Sidney tap out! Kick to the gut and a stunner! Bakabella is barely conscious as Bryce rips off his shirt for a rock bottom! A Bryce Hogan leg drop?!? Bryce puts a diaper on Bakabella like a hat and does the Michaels/Flair I’m Sorry I love you ending. Bryce with a pose and one foot pin to get the win. It takes three refs to carry Bakabella’s corpse to the back. This was amazing.

Winner: Bryce Donovan

Match 8: “The Shot Caller” Pedro Dones vs Baliyan Akki

We have Gatoh Move’s Baliyan Akki in the house?!? Dones calls his shot and he’s going for Akki’s foot. Akki grabs the leg and goes for an early heel hook. He tries wrenches the shoulder but Dones right out of there. Akki using his speed to avoid strikes and lands a big boot….Dones heads to the floor…Akki with a high double axe handle drops him! Dones dodges a slingshot and stomps out Akki. Ddt to the foot. Here we go. Dones going for the ankle, Akki with a rollup, Dones drops right in on the knee. Akki is still going! Flying knee drop! Akki heads to the ropes for a springs board dropkick for two! He tries again, Dones tosses him off the top. Akki with a rock bottom! Dones kicks out! Both guys are punch drunk but still throwing hands. Akki back to the top, Dones catches him out of the air….ankle lock again! Dones escapes a roll up and takes the ankle again! He drops down and Akki has to tap! This was super good!

Winner: Pedro Dones

Big Bacon Brad Hollister is out here and CELEBRATING GOOD TIMES! He is screaming in Everyone’s face and wearing a tuxedo tank top. He does the worm! He’s elated that he got the win over Tyree Taylor at No Respect. He says everyone was wrong, including Taylor who can never say his name again. He ignores the help he got in the win and says he did it all by himself. His birthday is Sunday so em he sings happy birthday to himself. This is getting wild until Ichiban heads out here to join the party? He’s got the case of money he won from Max Caster. Bacon calls him a scrub, tells him to put that case down and he’ll beat that ass. Ichiban obliges and Hollister runs for cover. Ichiban invites him into the ring but Hollister says he’ll only take the fight on HIS terms. Of course. This segment was just magic.

Main Event: Bobby Orlando (w/ Bobby Jr) vs “World Class” Channing Thomas

Bakabella is sufficiently neutralized so Orlando is out here with an unprotected Channing Thomas. Orlando with the immediate takedown and throwing hands hard. Sick trick back drop! Channing eats a lot of buckle and goes down swinging. Thomas escaping the dab elbow drop. Orlando rocking him over and over on the ropes. Bobby slam! Again! Spinning Bobby slam! Channing with a desperate pop up snake eyes and clothesline is the first significant offense he’s gotten all match. Thomas laying in the stomps! Big suplex! Surfboard stretch over the knees. Powerslam! Orlando kicks out! Channing gets the wrist and kicks at Bobby’s head with sheer disrespect. Orlando fires up but Channing drops him with a stiff dropkick for two. Thomas is dabbing at us and these are dabs we do not like. Thomas goes for a sick trick?!? He’s our mom?!? Orlando rolls out of the way! Trading blows in the center! Double dab chops! Springboard cross body!!! Suicide dive to the floor! Dabbing elbow! Channing kicks out! Orlando catches him with an AA! Channing with a huge German folds Orlando in half. Kick out! Channing wants the piledriver…backdrop! Channing forearms him out of the air! Fisherman’s suplex for two! Bobby with a cutter off the second! Channing kicks out! What do they have to do?!? Bobby steps on Channing’s hand…he had brass knuckles! Bobby throws the knucks away, but Channing rolls him up and gets his feet in the ropes for leverage.

Winner: Channing Thomas

Channing tries to escape out the fire door but Bryce Donovan catches him there and throws him back for Bobby to KO with the brass knuckles! Shook Crew stands tall as Orlando gets a measure of reverence and take a selfie with Channing unconscious body. It’s a bad night to be World Class. But with THIS announcement, it’s a great night to be an independent wrestling fan in Worcester. See you next Thursday!
