8/10 NJPW G1 CLIMAX REPORT FROM HIROSHIMA, JAPAN

From Hiroshima, Japan:

1 - Ryohei Oiwa, Yuto Nakashima and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Aaron Henare, Jeff Cobb and Will Ospreay

Henare taps out Nakashima with Ultima.

2 - Toru Yano and Tomohiro Ishii vs. Bad Dude Tito and JONAH

Yano pins Tito after pulling his hair and rolls him up in a cradle.

3 - TAKA Michinoku, Taichi, Lance Archer vs. Juice Robinson, KENTA and Gedo

Jay White was supposed to be in this tag match but he is still being kept out of the ring as a precautionary measure.

Taichi pins Gedo after a Yokozuna Elbow.

4 - BUSHI, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito vs. SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale

Owens pins BUSHI with a C-Trigger.

G1 Climax Matches:

Lance Archer joins Kevin Kelly on English commentary.

5 - D Block: David Finlay vs. El Phantasmo

ELP pins Finlay with a crucifix.

El Phantasmo earns 2 points and 4 points total in the D Block.

Great match.  The pulled out every move in their arsenal and knew counters for everything.  They were evenly matched.   ELP was just a step ahead in the match.

6 -  B Block:  Tama Tonga vs. Great O-Khan

Tama pins O-Khan after reversing out of the Eliminator and hitting a Gun Stun.

Tama Tonga earns 2 points and in a tie with Jay White for the B Block lead.   White has to face Taichi this weekend.  B Block could be a "winner take all" scenario between Tama Tonga and Jay White at the Budokan on August 16.

7 -  C Block:  Zack Sabre Jr. vs. EVIL, with Dick Togo

EVIL and Togo get to the ring first.   ZSJ music plays and he comes to the ring wearing a hat and his jacket is covering his face.  EVIL and Togo meet him in the entry way.   EVIL and Togo rip off hat and it is Kosei Fujita dressed as Zack Sabre Jr.  EVIL and Togo kick the crap out of Fujita.  Togo goes to the entry to look for ZSJ.   ZSJ grabs him in a arm twist and goes to the ring.  ZSJ grab EVIL in a choke and takes them both to the ring.  ZSJ hits EVIL with a European Uppercut. Togo tries to trip ZSJ but gets an arm wrench for his tricks.  EVIL tries a low blow but ZSJ wrenches his arm with his legs.  They counter out of each other's finishers.  ZSJ rolls EVIL into a Euro Clutch.

ZSJ pins EVIL.

Zack Sabre Jr. earns 2 points and has the lead for now in the C Block.

After the match, Zack picks up Fujita in the entry way and they posed on the stage.

Wow, fastest match in the G1.   Zack was able to handle the tricks of the House of Torture and get a win in record time.  

8 - A Block:  Kazuchika Okada vs. Tom Lawlor

Okada attacked the head and neck of Lawlor.  Lawlor went after Okada's left arm.  They battled in and out of the ring.  Lawlor trapped Okada in a cross arm breaker and Okada rushed to the ropes.   Lawlor hits a knee to the face and goes for the NKOTB, but Okada blocks it.  Lawlor with a back suplex.  Lawlor goes for a Front Face Lock but Okada picks him up.  Lawlor flips over into a sunset flip.  Okada sits down and pins Lawlor.

Okada pins Lawlor.  

Kazuchika Okada earns 2 points and remains at the top of A Block with 8 points.  

Okada pays respect and applauds Lawlor as he leaves ringside.

Good match.   Okada had to fight against the submission style of Lawlor and was able to outsmart him with wrestling.  I look forward to more matches between both men.   

9 - C Block:  Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Hirooki Goto

They started the match slow but it picked up pace and became a striking battle.  Tanahashi split Goto's mouth with a wicked open hand shot.  Goto's mouth was pouring blood.  Tanahashi with Aces High, but misses a High Fly Flow.  Goto hit a Side Russian Leg Sweep and rolled up Tanahashi for a pin attempt.  Kick out at two.  Goto hits a Shoto.  Goto picks up Tanahashi, who reverses and hits Twist and Shout twice.  Tanahashi holds on but Goto lifts him up and drops him with a Shuoten Kai.  Goto crushes Tanahashi with a GTR.

Goto pins Tanahashi.

Hirooki Goto earns 2 points and ties for second place in the C Block.  Zack Sabre Jr. leads the C Block.  

Stiff match.  Great match.  Check it out on New Japan World.
