WWE NXT UK REPORT: A TSAR ABDICATES, A TITLE MATCH THAT NEVER WAS, A NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH, AND MORE

By Richard Trionfo on 2022-08-04 18:00:00

Your announcers are Andy Shepherd and Nigel McGuinness.

NXT UK Men’s Champion Ilja Dragunov makes his way to the ring and he is on crutches with his left foot in a boot.

Ilja says last week, against Wolfgang, he suffered an injury. He says he suffered a severe ankle injury early in the match. He says he fought until the very end. I fought until the very end because this NXT UK Championship is not a privilege. Being the NXT UK Champion means to fight to be the best on this brand. This brand has only had fighting champions. As much as he would love to continue to do that, he cannot.

This injury means that medical will not clear him. They do not know how long he will need to recover, it would be best to relinquish the championship today.

Ilja asks what should he say right now. Should he talk about how hard he worked for this. He won’t. Every single superstar in the back is working hard. Should I talk about my hard past coming from Russia to Germany, I am not going to do this. We all have to fight our own battles and I am not special. Should I talk about the fact if I was more careful with my health, this injury might not have happened? No, I don’t regret anything. I sacrifice my existence to get into this ring. All I ever wanted was to show my true soul. I wanted to encourage people that with will, you can endure every pain if you have a reason and can win. I fought with my soul as your NXT UK Champion.

As sad as I am to relinquish this championship and know that somebody else will take my place, I know one thing. No one beats me except myself. I will come back. I will come back as a better man than you see today. If you think I was strong holding this championship, you will be surprised how strong I will become to get it back.
