Insanity after the match. Fale goes after Okada. Juice and YOSHI-HASHI mix it up. Even some drama between Jay White and Chase Owens. All will meet in their respective Block matches tomorrow or Tuesday. Bullet Club lays out the young lions after the match.
G1 Climax 32 Matches:
D Block: David Finlay vs. Shingo Takagi
Both men begin grappling and striking. They go to the floor and Takagi hits a DDT on the floor. Takagi attacks Finlay’s neck. Back in the ring, Finlay trips off the ropes and Takagi hit another DDT. Finlay hits an uppercut and takes Takagi to the floor. Finlay with a plancha. Finlay with a springboard body press and a Blue Thunder Bomb. Two count. Takagi levels Finlay with a lariat. Takagi with a top rope elbow and a powerbomb. Finlay kicks out and Takagi rolls him into an STF. Finlay gets to the ropes. Takagi goes for Made in Japan, but Finlay reverses into a uranagi backbreaker. Finlay with a running uppercut and a Superplex. Two count. Takagi blocks an Acid Drop and hits a strike to Finlay’s back. Takagi goes for a Sliding Lariat but Finlay rolls him into a crucifix. Two count. Takagi tries for Made in Japan again but Finlay rolls him into a pin attempt. Two count. Finlay with a Stunner, holds on and hits a Acid Drop. Takagi kicks out at two. Finlay goes for a Trash Panda but Takagi blocks and hits a snap suplex. Takagi with a Noshigami and a Pumping Bomber. Two count. Takagi hits Made in Japan. Two count!!!! They exchange strikes. Takagi with a headbutt and a Sliding Lariat. Takagi goes for a GTR but Finlay hits another Stunner. Finlay grabs Takagi in a Victory Roll.
Finlay pins Takagi!
David Finlay earns 2 points and is now tied for the lead with Will Ospreay in the D Block with 4 points.
Good match! Finlay is on a roll with two solid wins. He has momentum on his side.
A Block: Tom Lawlor vs. JONAH
Lawlor uses his quickness to avoid JONAH’s power. JONAH falls to the floor and Lawlor hits a loud punt kick to his back. JONAH shoulder tackles Lawlor. JONAH presses Lawlor above his head and drops him on the guardrail. Lawlor grabs his ribs. Lawlor beats the count back to ring. JONAH applies a bear hug. Lawlor stomps on his foot break the hold. JONAH levels him with an elbow. JONAH whips him chest first into the corner. Lawlor attacks with slaps and kicks. JONAH with a lariat but starts limping after Lawlor’s kicks to his legs. Lawlor avoids a JONAH senton. Lawlor hammers him with knee strikes. Lawlor takes down JONAH with a single leg crab. Lawlor switches to a heel submission and JONAH quickly goes for the ropes. They get to their feet and Lawlor hits a rolling elbow to the back of the head. Lawlor follows with a flying leg lariat and a jumping neck breaker. Two count. Lawlor hammers JONAH with elbows and hits an enzugiri. JONAH with an avalanche, dropping Lawlor. JONAH puts Lawlor on the top rope. Lawlor escapes and headbutts JONAH in the back of his knee. Lawlor with a modified back suplex off the ropes.
Lawlor with knee strikes to the head and a punt kick to the chest. JONAH picks up Lawlor and throws him ribs first on the top rope. JONAH hits a powerbomb. JONAH hits a Torpedo (splash from the top rope).
JONAH pins Lawlor.
JONAH earns two points and his first win in the G1.
Solid match. Both men worked really hard. Tough position for Lawlor who has two losses already.
B Block: SANADA vs. Great O-Khan
Both men began grappling and mat wrestling. O-Khan kept going for leg submissions. SANADA hits a top rope drop kick. SANADA picks up the pace, as LIJ likes to do. SANADA hits another drop kick. O-Khan hits a big lariat to stop his momentum. O-Khan hits SANADA with Mongolian Chops. O-Khan hits a big chop and SANADA falls back. His leg kicks O-Khan low. The referee does not call for a DQ. SANADA with an O’Conner Roll. Two count. SANADA hits a rolling elbow and follows with a TKO. SANADA goes for a moonsault but O-Khan gets his knees up.
O-Khan with a back breaker and a Sheep Killer. SANADA reverses into Skull End. O-Khan goes for SANADA’s eye. He gets the Claw Hold on SANADA. SANADA gets out and hits a spin kick. SANADA goes for another attack and O-Khan pulls the referee in the way. SANADA pushes him to the side and O-Khan punches SANADA in the jaw. O-Khan with a moonsault. Two count. SANADA with a pop up TKO. SANADA hits a moonsault.
SANADA pins O-Khan.
SANADA earns 2 points. He is tied with Jay White with 4 points.
C Block: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Both men go to the mat with wrestling and grappling. Tanahashi tries for a test of strength but ZSJ quickly goes for an arm submission. He twists the fingers of Tanahashi. Tanahashi punches ZSJ in the ribs. ZSJ retreats. Tanahashi gets a neck twist. ZSJ with a Dragon Screw on the leg, and attacks the left arm with a cross arm breaker. ZSJ continues to attack the left arm. ZSJ stretches him with an arm submissIon but Tanahashi gets to the ropes.
They both try for a Cobra Twist. Tanahashi with a Dragon Screw. Tanahashi keeps punching him in the ribs. Tanahashi with a senton. ZSJ continues to go back after the arm. Tanahashi gets to the ropes. ZSJ goes for a cross arm breaker and a triangle choke but Tanahashi gets to the ropes. They pick up the pace and exchange submissions. Tanahashi hits a Zack Driver. Tanahashi with a Sling Blade. Two count.
Tanahashi hits an Aces High. ZSJ rolls out and gets a Euro Clutch. Tanahashi barely kicks out before 3. ZSJ throws a punt kick. Tanahashi catches the kick and goes for a Dragon Screw. ZSJ avoids it. Tanahashi rolls him up for a pin. ZSJ grabs him in a Triangle Choke. Before he can lock it in, Tanahashi flips over with a bridge.
Tanahashi pins ZSJ. The referee counts three. ZSJ pops up in surprise. Tanahashi smiles at him and they have a heated conversation.
The camera clearly showed ZSJ’s arm under the ropes but the referee did not see it. Tanahashi is declared the winner.
Hiroshi Tanahashi earns 2 points. There is a 3 way tie in C Block, with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto and Zack Sabre Jr., all at 4 points.
Tanahashi plays the air guitar to the delight of the audience.
Great match, but a controversial result. Zack has a point that he was under the ropes. But Tanahashi was declared the winner. They may build a story off of this.
