PEACOCK OPERATES ON $467 MILLION LOSS THIS QUARTER, SUBSCRIPTIONS FLAT FROM LAST QUARTER, TOTAL USERS DOWN

By Mike Johnson on 2022-07-28 09:53:00

Comcast, which owns NBC Universal, released their second quarter earnings for 2022 this morning.

On the Peacock front, the streaming service that houses the WWE Network in the United States stalled in terms of new subscribers with 13 million paid, the same as the previous quarter, so there was no growth from the first quarter to now.  The first quarter saw Peacock go from 9 million paid to 13.  Peacock listed active users as dropping from 28 million to 27 million this quarter as well.

Peacock as a whole operated at a $467 million loss this quarter.

Comcast did not mention WWE as a driving factor as to why they believed the next quarter would be better for the streaming service, instead pushing The World Cup, Sunday Night Football, the addition of several theatrical films including Jurassic Park: Dominion and NBC-owned content that would migrate to Peacock from Hulu later this year.
