AEW just announced Leila Gray isn't cleared to wrestle on tonight's Dynamite card, so instead it will be Athena & Willow Nightingale vs. AEW TNT Champion Jade Cargill & Kiera Hogan in a traditional tag match replacing the announced six man tag. Kris Statlander, who was initially slated for the six woman tag alongside Athena and Willow, worked the AEW Dark - Elevation taping before the show. We are told Gray is not currently backstage.
The legendary Keith Mitchell, who over the course of his career worked for WCW, TNA and AEW, among other televised promotions, is backstage visiting and even doing some work in the production truck at tonight's taping. Mitchell officially retired from working in professional wrestling this past January after four decades of being in the business full-time. We are told there were a lot of people truly happy to see him tonight. When he retired, Mitchell made it clear that he would be happy to help out from time to time if he was needed.
Choco Pro's Baliyan Akki is also backstage.
Former EVOLVE star AR Fox, who is a hell of a high flyer, worked the AEW Dark - Elevation taping.
There's excitement backstage about AEW Grand Slam 2 going on sale later this week given what a massive event last year's event was for the locker room and staff alike.
Bob Rosen, who heads up the ringside area and handles a lot of logistics, is celebrating a birthday today. Rosen previously worked for TNA in a similar role.
