In 1985, Terry Taylor was one of the top stars in Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling. For 40 minutes, it appeared he was going to be crowned the new NWA World Champion when Ric Flair came to face him in New Orleans. It was one of Taylor's finest hours as an in-ring performer and for Flair, it was yet another showcase of the longform storytelling he brought to the ring, a style that likely will never be seen again as consistently nightly as Flair performed, given the changes across the pro wrestling and pop culture landscapes:
